Maria is simply as good as it gets. She is very professional, exceptionally kind, and was always reliable throughout the entire wedding process — from early communication before the trial through the last touch-​up on the wedding day in August 2015. Our wedding day was a whirlwind, with a timeline that ranged from 6am to 10pm, two separate ceremonies, two locations, and two wardrobe changes. Maria and her team were perfect from start to finish. En route from the church to the second ceremony, Maria was with us on the bus and was in constant communication with our wedding planners to be sure everything ran on time. She helped arrange jewelry, made sure my veil was in the right place, and came prepared with «emergency kits» just in case anything went wrong (which, with Maria with us, nothing did!). This all was truly above and beyond any expectation I could have had.
I have never felt more gorgeous and all my bridesmaids, my mother, mother-​in-​law, and grandmothers looked and felt beautiful, too. Maria is all about that — providing hair and makeup services that enhance one’s own natural beauty. I have always loved that philosophy and Maria embraces that approach in her work. I could not recommend Maria and her team more!

Maria Chang and her team were true professionals. I had no worries knowing that Maria was there. I would describe Maria as a make-​up artist guru, a hair magician, a seamstress, and an honorary bridesmaid all put in one. She truly cares about making your big day go as smoothly as possible, and treats you like family.
When my bridesmaid’s necklace was too long, Maria whipped out a thread and needle and sewed the necklace in the perfect place using a navy thread (my wedding colors were navy and yellow). When my dress was dirtied, she got rid of the stain. I don’t know how Maria does it, but she has a solution for everything.
Maria and her team listens to every one of our requests (in terms of hair and makeup) and made all my bridesmaids look flawless and beautiful. They definitely will put on more makeup or take off makeup, depending on your comfort level with no questions asked. It is important to them that you feel beautiful and comfortable.
Every bridesmaid had a different hairstyle that was beautiful and executed perfectly. Even when some of my bridesmaids were indecisive and changed their mind on their hair style, even after the initial hair style was finished, Maria and her team accommodated easily the changes. Her team changed the hair style until each bridesmaid was happy.
Maria touches up your bridal party and you before pictures, before your ceremony, and before your reception. She followed me around as we were taking pictures, helping with the veil, and fixing my hair so I look beautiful in my pictures.
I was truly impressed with her dedication and would recommend every bride to have Maria and her team for your big day. When you have Maria, you do not have to worry, because she is absolutely AMAZING.

Maria is an Angel sent from above!!! I don’t know what I would have done without her. Just by being herself Maria goes above and beyond for her brides not only taking care of all your make-​up and hair needs but making sure everything is just right! She fixes thing your bridesmaids don’t see and has a calming way about herself that is infectious. Maria and her team were nothing less than amazing on my wedding day. I had my wedding in March of 2015 and I cannot say enough positive things about Maria and all of the girls that helped make my wedding day special.
Before the wedding Maria had a trial make up and hair session. She sat down and listened to all the different details of my wedding: location, colors, what my dress looked like, veil, centerpieces, what the groom was wearing, make up styles that I liked, hairstyles that I liked, who the photographer was, type of jewelry I wanted to wear. You name it, she covered it! The trial session took about 3 hours. I brought my Aunt along and Maria worked quickly, yet carefully. As she worked on my hair and make up she would frequently check in about what I thought about the look and if I wanted to change anything. After she was all done, she took pictures at different angles to see how everything would photograph and then sent me the photos.
All of the previous reviews raved about how amazing it was to have her and her team around on the day of the wedding and they were right! Maria texted me the night before the wedding, reminding me to drink enough water and get plenty of rest. The next morning she arrived at my hotel door early, came in set everything up and started going to work on me and my bridal party (and moms too!). Everyone she brought was so helpful and they made such great conversation while getting ready. After everyone was done, we went to the venue to ‘put everything together.’ Maria and her team helped me get in my dress and even laced my dress up perfectly in what felt like seconds. It turned out all of the ladies were running ahead of schedule all morning, so in all the ‘spare time’ Maria attached all of the groomsmen’s boutonnieres, made sure the bouquets were dried off in time, and fluffed and positioned my dress during the pre ceremony picture session.
After the ceremony Maria continued to be nothing less than amazing. There were touch ups before pictures, then she held my bouquet when needed and repositioned my dress to make everything look phenomenal in the photos. If a hair was starting to fall out of place, then it was fixed almost immediately. Once pictures were over, there were more touch ups.
Maria and her team are pricy, but completely worth it. Her team started at 10 am and left my wedding around 6pm. They touched up everyone as needed and made everything flow so smoothly. If you want to feel pampered on your wedding day, Maria and her team are the only way to go.

I just want to say that Maria is the most talented makeup artist I have ever encountered!!! Maria made me look amazing and made me feel like a princess on my wedding day. PMA is totally worth every penny! Not only was my makeup and hair looking amazing but she stayed with me and did touch ups the entire time so your pictures will be even more amazing! I cant thank her enough and she is such a beautiful person to be around! She makes you feel so comfortable and all while making you gorgeous!

This review is severely overdue. Maria Maria Maria!!! Oh how I love her! She was an angel gifted to me by God on my wedding day (July 2013). What she did for me goes beyond her incredible talent as a makeup artist and her unwavering professionalism. She was like my unofficial maid of honor. I also cannot say enough about her makeup and hair team. They were all very talented, friendly, and professional. When I was searching for a makeup artist, I wanted someone who had a natural aesthetic because I do not typically wear makeup. Maria definitely fit the bill. We met, instantly connected, did the trial session and I said yes right away.
Fast forward to wedding day. I don’t like to relive this moment, but my now husband decides to pick the morning of our wedding day to inadvertently wack me in the face. I had a cut lip that was bleeding and swelled up instantly. I cried hysterically when it happened. We tried to get my fat lip down as much as possible with ice, Advil, and cortisone. However, it was Maria’s magic that made the puffy eyes and fat lip disappear as if nothing had happened. Just when I thought everything was coming together and we were getting ready to walk down the aisle, I realized that my husband had left my veil in our closet at home. I was actually supposed to pack it in the car that morning but he offered to pack the car since I was still hysterical about the fat lip he gave me. I was so stressed out because I felt bad that the guests were waiting around. I was thinking about just walking down the aisle without the veil until Maria sat me down, told me to breathe, and said that it was my day and that the guests can wait. I’m glad I listened to her. She stayed with me the whole wedding making sure I was relaxed, hydrated, fed, and picture perfect for photos. Coming back to the fat lip, it started to turn purple and green by the time I had to put on my reception dress. Maria to the rescue, touched me up and I was ready to go back out again. Fast forward again to January 2014. I booked Jennifer Skog for a Boudoir shoot as a 1 year anniversary gift to my husband. Maria and Jen work as a pair for Boudoir shoots and I booked Jennifer initially because I was comfortable with Maria. Again, Maria made me look naturally gorgeous and comfortable in my own skin. I don’t view myself as sexy, so the experience was very awkward to me at first. But Maria and Jen did a fantastic job in directing me and bringing out the «sexy» in me, as little as there was. Lol. My husband loved the book and couldn’t believe I had the guts to do a boudoir shoot.
In closing, no words can express how thankful I am to have met Maria. Aside from her 5 star business and incredible talent, she is a beautiful and inspiring human being. I feel incredibly blessed and privileged to have befriended her.

On my wedding day, Maria was the lead artist who worked on me while her teammate Nadia took care of my 2 bridesmaids. They arrived on time, prepared and ready to go. Not only did Maria and Nadia stay the entire day for touchups, they even helped with styling all the group photos right after the ceremony, dressing me in between change of gowns, and fixing my wedding dress bustle. They were always nearby and ready to help.
It was important to me to feel as natural and «makeup-​less» as possible, while still being made up enough to photograph well. Maria truly listened to my aspirations and then made them happen flawlessly. I felt totally at ease with Maria from the moment I met her at the trial. Be it makeup tips, guidance on hair accessories, or how to grow out eyebrows, she is always willing to share her knowledge.
Maria and her team are seasoned pros and they are just simply awesome at they do!

My job for a while was to do a lot of research, on all sorts of topics. When it was my turn to pick a hair and makeup artist for my wedding, I wanted to pick the best and the greatest because let’s face it, it is true, the only thing that lasts after you spend an arm and a leg are the pictures, so you better look good.
When I found PMA, it was their classy, classic, and couture-​like website had me. And amidst the skeptical Unilocal reviews, I was sold because needless to say, pictures really do speak for themselves and the reviews were a direct reflection or as I quote a fellow Unilocaler, almost an «understatement» of the work they do.
PMA receives these almost too good to be true reviews because Maria and her team are perfectly consistent; they make you look perfect and are consistent about doing it, every single time. And my experience with Maria is that she does not only know people, at the end of your session with her, she will get to know you because she actually truly cares.
On the day of my wedding, everything seemed hectic and moving way too fast. After sitting in Maria’s chair, all the chaos melted away. Maria is an amazing woman on so many levels and it was not only an honor but an inspiration to be the canvas of her artistic hand on the most important, best and most magical day of my life. I chose Professional Makeup Artistry for my wedding and was not disappointed at all. Melissa Hoffmann and Lindsay Skog were amazing. I loved what Melissa did with my make up and hair. She really listened to what I wanted and executed it perfectly. She also did make up for my mom and grandma, and they both looked beautiful.
My bridesmaids all wanted different hairstyles and Lindsay worked with them to give each of them exactly what they wanted. All curls and braids were pretty, soft, and romantic – there weren’t any stiff prom-​type curls.
It was raining on my wedding day, and everyone’s hair and make up stayed in place. I ended up only needing minor touchups, but Melissa did follow me to the venue and stayed with me, outside in the rain, during my first look and pre-​ceremony pictures. She even stayed a little longer than necessary to help me add a tiara after the ceremony.
Overall, everything was wonderful and I’m so very happy that I went with Professional Makeup Artistry.

Lindsay recently did my hair and make up for my wedding and I loved it and it looked amazing. I have never felt as beautiful as I did on my wedding day and I received so many complements!
Lindsay, in my opinion, went above and beyond what a usual hair and make up artist would be doing on your wedding day. She was there for me when I needed her and was always making sure my hair and make up looked the best before and after the ceremony. I will be recommending her to all of my friends!

Maria Chang and her team was the best wedding decision I made! I had received a recommendation from an old friend who had used Maria for her wedding. She had many great things to say about her and when I met Maria for my trial makeup and hair — I knew that I had made the right decision. Her work is a masterpiece — she is meticulous and incredibly talented.
On the day of the wedding, Maria and her team took things to a whole new level. Her entire crew were so sweet and fun to be around. Getting ready with these girls felt like I was getting ready with all of my girlfriends. They did an amazing job on my bridal party and my mom and everyone looked absolutely stunning.
When it came to my makeup and hair, Maria made sure that we followed the wedding schedule and timeline but never made me feel like we were rushing through things. She created a look that was very classic and made my skin appear flawless. Her work on false eyelashes is beyond impressive and I received so many compliments throughout the evening. My hair was done beautifully and so well that even at the end of the night (after a lot of dancing) — my hair looked as it did the minute she completed it.
What really took Maria up ten additional notches is the fact that her work didn’t end with makeup and hair. I called Maria my honorary bridesmaid. She helped me bustle my dress, she entertained my little stressed out pups during the ceremony, she was constantly near me with a bottled water and straw to ensure I stayed hydrated and most of all, she was there for support. Spending time with Maria on my special day felt like I was spending time with my best friend. She made me her number one priority and I couldn’t have gotten through the day without her.
I can go on and on about how amazing Maria and her team are but simply put — there should be no reason why you shouldn’t hire Maria. She is the best in the industry and I am confident you will not be disappointed.

Maria and her crew are amazing! They all traveling to Lake Tahoe for our wedding and were top notch hair stylists and makeup artists. They not only knew how to best do our makeup and hair but they were easy to work with. The service was above and beyond and I would recommend Maria and her ladies to anyone who can afford them.

Maria Chang is AMAZING and that’s probably an understatement. My husband and I absolutely L O V E her. Not only is she an excellent makeup artist, she’s also so sweet, welcoming and easy to get along with.
From the moment I got engaged I knew I wanted Maria to do my makeup– she makes you look absolutely flawless. After my husband and I set the date and our photographer (Augie Chang– Maria and him go hand in hand; you can’t have one without the other), I immediately emailed Maria. She responded fast and I was set.
Fast forward several months, my husband and I had a change of heart. Instead of a San Francisco wedding, we decided to have our wedding in Maui on a different date which also happened to be Maria’s birthday. As nerve wrecking as it was to think she wouldn’t be able to do my make up, changing the date and location was not a problem and she was happy to do so.
While in Maui, Maria did my makeup for the rehearsal dinner as well as makeup for my whole bridal party (4 bridesmaids, my husband’s mom, and my mom) for the wedding day. She never leaves your side and pays careful attention to detail so you don’t have to worry about your makeup or hair being out of place. She even changed my hair for the reception! Maria also has a knack for photography so having her as your makeup artist is like getting 2 for 1.

I met Maria four years ago in her home studio for my best friend’s bridal makeup trial. Being a huge makeup addict, I was like a kid in a candy store when I laid my eyes on Maria’s expansive collection. While chatting with us, she transformed my best friend into a gorgeous bride. From that moment on, I told myself I would hire Maria for my special day, if and whenever it arrived.
Sure enough, I hired Maria for my unforgettable wedding at Auberge du Soleil on March 28, 2014. Along with her traveling makeup cases and her lovely assistant, Maria arrived at the doorsteps of my bridal room on the dot. She was 110% committed to making me look and feel beautiful the entire day. Maria’s positive and cheerful attitude is contagious. Her work is one of a kind. She always goes above and beyond and even assisted my photographer and videographers who were not associated with her business. PMA, specifically Maria, is an absolute must for any SF bride. I’ve been in enough weddings and events to know that all makeup artists are not created the same! Don’t believe me? Go for a trial. The care that Maria gives you in listening to your vision and understanding your neuroses would’ve been enough. Maria also takes HD pictures of your trial so you can see first hand what your makeup will photograph like (in person makeup has to look just as good in pictures!). After the trial, I was sold. I had utmost confidence that I would look my best and that really took a lot of stress off! PMA is pricey, but I splurged on myself and my bridesmaids, and all of us felt just amazing for the big day. If you are already thinking about it Book. Maria. Now. For her fee she stays with you allllllll day. I had a Vietnamese ceremony, a Korean Paebaek and a traditional ceremony so I feel like I totally got my money’s worth. Maria was my personal assistant the whole day of and changed my hair 3 separate times! UNHEARD OF (I could’ve made it 4 and Maria wouldn’t have even batted an eyelash). She has such a great personality and a genuine passion for what she does. I’ve recommended Maria to all my bride friends, she’s super popular so make sure you snatch her up! Was a bridesmaid for my best friend’s wedding in August and was a bit hesitant when I first heard the price but after seeing the magic that her team did for all of us while keeping us looking natural, I can say they are worth it and would highly recommend them to anyone wanting to look beautiful for their wedding. The great thing is they do hair and makeup so you don’t have to worry about looking for two separate vendors.

Maria was the makeup artist and hairstylist for my wedding in September. She and her team went ABOVE AND BEYOND, and stayed with me, working tirelessly, for the entire evening even when they weren’t contractually obligated to do so. I owe it to their talent and magic that made me look, and more importantly, feel amazing!
As a bride, it’s natural my nerves were on edge, but because Maria was by my side, her upbeat demeanor and expertise in weddings really kept me feeling very calm and at ease throughout the entire day and evening (while getting ready, during the photoshoot, ceremony and reception). I was showered with compliments and my guests commented how diligent and attentive Maria and Nadia were.
I am just so grateful for their professionalism and compassion every step of the way… starting with my trial session (which is so much fun!) up to the day of my wedding.

«Effing Maria Chang» was my initial reaction when my wife told me that she wanted Maria to be her makeup artist on our wedding day. To be honest, as a guy, I had no idea how much makeup cost let alone how much to have someone follow you around all day doing touch ups. I was one the fence for a long time but finally gave in after hearing so many glowing reviews from her past customers. I mean weddings are crazy expensive as it is, so it makes no difference if I eat top ramen for a few months. It also didn’t hurt that my wife came back looking stunning after her trial session with her. Apparently she makes on mean ass latte so make sure to try one if you are ever at her place!
Fast forward to present day and she is now known as «Maria EFFING Chang» because she is that good. I mean like holy cow! She could easily put a lot of other «professionals» to shame even on her off day. She was simply amazing and you can’t tell just by looking at her portfolio. Our wedding day was crazy, we had so much stuff jam packed that we rarely had a chance to rest of feet let alone get a drink of water, but every time I turned around Maria was always there with my wife. She even brought us some snacks and water during our five minute break in between venues. She was so calm and relaxed that it totally put the two of us at ease. Her work speaks for itself, but I can’t put enough value on how much she meant to us during our wedding. Like my wife said, I’m her number one fan :)
I’m SO glad that one of our best friends just booked Maria for her wedding. I can’t wait to see her magic again and thank her in person!
