Prescriptives is THE best makeup for multiracial peeps. They can create a color specific to your skin tone for no extra charge. Also great if you have problematic skin. I don’t know what’s so special about their formulas but you’ll notice fewer breakouts once you switch over to Prescriptives. The prices are super reasonable and they’ll ship your purchases to your crib if they’re out of what you want in store. The counter staff is very diverse(and hot), and knowledgeable about their products without being pushy. They also have great deals online, so if you know your color, order away! My only complaint about Prescriptives has nothing to do with Prescriptives at all — just the environment and its lighting. The lighting at the Nordstroms’ makeup counters is worse than a dive bar bathroom and is usually the reason I’m reluctant to buy. Good lighting = More purchases. Nordstrom should get on that.

Ladies, you can’t wear the same color all your life. Not even if your mother, your sister, your grandmother, your brother-whoever wears that color. This is what I’ve learned today at Nordstroms. I am Asian and by law I thought my identity was classified as «yellow.» I’m a yellow person and I have yellow skin. Not olive, not cream, not tan, not light. It’s yellow and I’m proud of it. I come to the Prescriptives counter today to get PHOTOCHROME after it’s hibernation for 5 years. And guess what? I’ve come to learn that in fact I’m not a yellow person anymore! My skin is in the blue/red family now. WTF? Now that doesn’t mean I’m a mandrill you hooligans but it means underneath that yellow, I’m a mix of something else. Well, I’ll be damned! That blue/red jibberish made sense once she applied foundation to me. All of a sudden I’m beautiful! Thank you Jamie. Thank you thank you thank you. And to think, I could have gone through life thinking I was nothing more than yellow. Now I know I’m purple too! :) The best part about Nordstroms is that they’ll ship an item to your house for free if they don’t have it in the store. Apparently a lot of women in SF are purple too ’cause they didn’t have any in the stores in the Bay Area. I have purple sisters(and maybe brothers?) out there! Yay!
