Jocelyn Cohen is the principal at Poetree Landscapes & Arboriculture. As a Certified Arborist and Certified Aesthetic Pruner she has extensive experience with pruning, land restoration and tree care.

History

Established in 2001.

Jocelyn’s interest in trees began at an early age. Although she has changed careers several times her love of the outdoors, nature and trees finally flourished with her company Poetree Landscapes & Arboriculture. She focuses the majority of her work on the care and aesthetic pruning of trees and shrubs. She also holds a Garden Design Certificate from UC Berkeley. This along with her background in fine arts, graphics and horticulture gives her the artistic eye and expertise to assist clients fulfill their vision for the garden.

Ecologist, artist, and advocate of trees and shrubs, her writings can be found in the «Manzanita» journal. She has taught Arboriculture at Merritt College and pruning workshops at the East Bay Regional Parks Botanic Garden specifically on pruning California trees and shrubs. She regularly speaks at garden clubs, symposiums and seminars.

Jocelyn emphasizes and specializes in early training and structuring of all trees and shrubs; restoring damaged or neglected plants; preservation reports for existing trees and landscapes emphasizing care of our oaks. She prunes to bring out the plant’s natural habit and its individual character, restoring or maintaining plant health and encouraging longevity.
