Pipe Dreams

Passed by this little shop and found out it was one of the first pipe shops that opened in San Francisco. I just walked into some history right there! They were really friendly there and showed me some really unique pieces. The lady who assisted me seemed to know so much about the pieces and the artists as well. I fell in love with this little turtle she showed me, she said the artist was situated in Santa Cruz and making his pieces from there and lives in Yosemite now. She also told me how simple it was to clean the little guy. I really feel like I got a one of a kind unique piece that just looks stunning. I may need to start a little collection of glass buddies for my little turtle to hang out with.

Went in to get a vape pen and made it clear that I don’t know anything. The man helping me knew his stuff and I was out of there within 20 minutes. Went home and tried to charge it but it wouldn’t charge at all. It just stayed dead. I had it on the charger for a while but the light never turned green. I guess I’ll be returning it.
Edit: went in to return it and got a new one with no problem

I’ve been to Pipe Dreams twice already, but from those visits I can confidently give the store ⁵⁄₅ rating. They have a truly wide selection of glass pieces as well as everything related to glass or smoking including real red wood Sherlock Holmes tobacco pipes, ton of accessories, and supplies. Main attraction of course is the very good selection of blown glass works of art. Some of it is very affordable and other stuff is fancy and prices are sky high although for a good reason. Some of the work of art glass pipes are truly magnificent and they are from known glass blowers. There are are also many high quality non decorative clear glass pipes of varying thickness.
You can find anything you want here. I checked the prices from online stores as well and this store does not actually cost much more and in fact has many things which would be more expensive at many sites online for a similar piece. A lot of the pipes they sell are from authentic professional glass blowers and not imitators. At least I could tell that from a number of pieces such as the honeycomb pipe.

I was initially drawn to Pipe Dreams due to its historic status as the oldest smoke shop on Haight Street and have returned a few times since then to buy hookah and lighters.
The façade of the shop is appropriately colorful, like the many novelty items and souvenirs it sells in addition to the smoking paraphernelia its been known for since 1969.
Everyone I’ve encountered here has been friendly and informative.
Pipe Dreams is worth a visit at least once in your life, even if you don’t smoke.

I needed an upgrade from my current setup, which was a pipe/​papers and a wooden grinder. Ash was helping me out, he was very patient with my questions, and very knowledgeable in the products, with the pros and cons of each one I was interested in. In the end I walked away with a new santa cruz grinder and a new water pipe, locally made too. Very happy with my purchases and definitely will recommend.

First time in this shop recently to pickup a Pax and the shop keep was extremely helpful. They are authorized retailers and move enough product to get fresh deliveries. I was able to pickup a sealed Pax that was recently received at the price of $ 249. They threw in some pipe cleaners and a case at cost and I left a happy customer.
Everything works great and I’m happy with my choice to bike over to Pipe Dreams. Highly recommended.

As a very new smoker, I don’t know much about the ins and outs and types and things and stuff and various accoutrements that go into it. I needed help! And boy, did I get it!
Ash helped us finding a water pipe, and showed us everything from basic to wild. He really knows his stuff, and I never felt pressure to buy a more expensive piece (even though we did). He went above and beyond explaining how to best use everything and how to keep everything nice and clean.
We ended up going with a beautiful Mighty Chalice due to Ash’s glowing recommendation. I always prefer buying locally, and Mighty Chalice is produced here in the Bay Area.
They have a great selection of all sorts of pipes, ranging from very affordable to not so affordable. But beyond that, they truly have one of the best employees I’ve ever come across in a retail shop of any kind. Thank you so much!

Oldest smoke shop in SF. Historic location. Must check out. Best prices. The most amazing and helpful workers. I love getting gifts for friends from this store.

Best customer service on the Height Street. Ive been to other spots around & they are either lazy, dont care untill you buy, and dont even great you. For new comers or vetersn to different types of smoking they got you covered. There prices are much cheaper then the other spots around. Quality is top notch. They go out of your way to help you I love it.

Chris helped us today, and was professional, kind, and knowledgeable. He explained options patiently and clearly described the advantages and disadvantages of several products. He didn’t try to upsell, which was refreshing as we are on a rather tight budget.

I have been to every pipe shop in SF and this is by far the best place. The dude with the beard who runs the shop is really nice and knowledgeable. By far the best place to get a vaporizer, I got my PAX and Omnicron v2 cartridges here. He went through both products and demo’ed them for me and made sure they where working and I knew how to use them.

Super cool and knowledge staff. Good selection and prices. The pieces are awesome and made by small producers. I didn’t pick anything up, because I was 3,000 miles from home and didn’t feel like explaining what a bubbler is to a TSA agent.

Very knowledgeable staff! Chris, the guy who helped me and my friend choose out a chillum, also helped us with his expansive knowledge of portable vaporizers. We chatted with him in great lengths about the durability and stats on the new PAX vape, and he truly sold both of us on it! Too bad he did not have any in stock, we would have taken 2! Great location, clean store, unique glass and amazing prices! Chris is fantastic!

Oh man, i really love this shop !!! These guys are so friendly and extremely knowledgeable (of course should be), and they’ve got a crapload of different designs and whatnot. Squealed in my head like a little school girl hehehehe
I felt that the prices are very decent, you can get pipes that are like 10 bucks (10 BUCKS!!!) to like, i dunno, 60 or more. depending on how much of a toker or «expertise» you are, if you will. Wood, glass, metal, they got em all.
Came here on a recommendation of Cynthia B. and definitely glad I checked them out !!
They give good tips and suggestions, and I ended up walking out with a real nice one in hand and skipping along Haight.
I felt like Harry Potter when he was holding his wand… wind blowing through my hair and light shining from behind me.
This was definitely the one.

These guys gave me a bunch of free stuff (pipe cleaners, F420, and two lighters!) after I made a glass purchase. Anyone who gives me free things gets 5 stars automatically.
But no, in all seriousness, they have a very good selection and from what I can tell, the best prices on Haight. Their pieces are definitely cheaper than those found in Puff Puff Pass or Daydreamz, with no real difference in quality.

It comforts me to know that I can walk down Haight Street a couple of years from now and this place will probably still be around.

Sometimes I’ll even go out of my way to just buy a simple lighter in here; making sure I do my part to keep this Haight street ‘landmark’ around for another 27.
