Very good resturaunt !!! Goodish food, !!! The ICECREAM taste like hazelnut !!! You get seated extremely quick !!! The waiters are Italian and if your not vey understanding of accents maybe it would be difficult for you, over all it’s very very nice, just not my favorite. The bathroom is beutiful ! The water is clean BEST WATER EVER TASTE SO GOOD !!! SALT AND PEPPER SO FINE, BEST FOOD EVER

As we are playing tourist today in North Beach, we walked past this place. Their billboard outside claimed they have the best pasta and pizza, so we thought of giving it a try. We read that margherita pizza is not great, so we tried their anchovies and tomato pizza. It was unique. Maybe add little bit more anchovies. It wouldn’t hurt to put basil on it. We also had their steamed clams and mussels appetizer. It came out good portion for appetizer. Tasty, but a little bit salty. There were about 15 – 20 clams n mussels. Combination of both dishes we ordered, goes well together. The disappointment was the bread they serve, which was cold. We would like to give it a 3.5, but didn’t know how to do that.

Service was good, really nice people.
We ordered the pizza. STAY AWAY. Tasted like a cheap microwave pizza. For a 15 $ plain margarita pizza it’s more the annoying. 2 glasses of white wine were served way too cold and the wine was not good. The pastas looked and smelled really good, but we haven’t tried them…

Best Italian food I’ve had in San Francisco, the Osso Bucco is to die for.
We came here with a group of 8 guys on a bachelor weekend at the recommendation of one of the guys in the group who frequents this place with his wife.
Best food we had all weekend and even outdid our dinner the previous night at Ruth’s Chris at a fraction of the price.
The service was excellent — we were served by all friendly and attentive Italian natives.
The appetizers were excellent, particularly the Antipasti Italiano, which offered a spread of delicious sliced meats, grilled veggies and delectably fresh and flavorful mozzarella.
I got to taste a number of the other guys dishes, but the hands down winner was my Osso Bucco (lamb shank not veal here). The meat was beyond fall off the bone tender, and the marinade was sublime. The polenta is came with was rich and creamy yet light, and the vegetables had soaked up all that sublime marinade. Every bite was heaven.
We sat outside and the ambiance was beautiful on a gorgeous sunny day with a late sunset, and the people watching was great.
If you’re ever in the area, give this place a try, you won’t be disappointed.

OMG We absolutely love the food at this place, it’s super authentic, very flavorful, great atmosphere, and people are genuine.
My wife and I have every time we visit San Francisco and I feel like it’s become a tradition. It’s now one of the Staples for San Francisco when we are in town! Please try the lasagna and the penne pasta.

Service was good and food was delicious. The Capricciosa was delicious and the fruttinde mari was so good.

I live a block away and brought a group of friends to try Piazza Pellegrini. We got to sit outside, we ordered clams and mussels to start, it was a good dish. The bolognese fettuccine was pretty good too. Service was decent in terms of timing, checking up on us to see if we needed anything.
The waiter wanted us to try a couple of wines, I asked to see the label and he refused to show it. I asked a couple of times and he made a point not to respond. He was strange and made dinner uncomfortable. It wasn’t nice having a potential conflict during dinner.
After the waiter, I’m sure I won’t go back. Shame since it’s an easy place to bring a group and I have visitors pretty often.

Came to this place have a lunch! But, truly disappointed and dissatisfied! Food is not good itself and service is bad! Usually, in Italian restaurants they serve bread with olive oil before the meal! Waiter brought after asking them! Waiter did not took out the dishes after eating! I don’t want to come to this place anymore and not recommending it for you! You can find other good restaurants in Italian town for the same price!

Wow! Definitely a 5 star establishment. We sat outside and enjoyed the local traffic walking and driving past.
The food was really nice — super impressed with everything we ordered!
Pizza base deserves special mention — nice’n’thin crust but thick enough to not flop when you hold it out to eat it. Service deserves extra special mention and made the night much more enjoyable. Server /​Maitre D very friendly and works hard to make sure you’re all set for a great meal.
Can’t wait until I can come back again…

Service: Rude. I can’t comment on the food or the wine.
I went there this past Saturday with my friend around 6p and told the wait staff that we wanted to sit outside and have drinks. They went ahead and seated us at one of the many empty tables outside.
A few minutes later the waiter/maitre’d came by and asked us what we wanted to drink. I asked what kind of wine was the house white. He rudely said «white,» so I asked again. Once again a rude non-​response. Finally the third time he said that it was pinot grigio. We went ahead and ordered the half-​carafe.
Then he came by and asked what we wanted for dinner. I said that we were there for a glass of wine only, as I told the person who seated us. He informed us that the tables were only for dinner and rudely told us to leave. Mind you there were several empty tables around us, they are the ones who seated us, and they had already taken our wine order.
Perhaps if he asked nicely, I wouldn’t have been so annoyed. I’ve lived in North Beach for 15 years, this type of service is NOT common for the neighborhood. Please don’t let this place ruin your impression of N.Beach. Pellegrini failed on so many levels that day.

We were a very large group, it was lightly raining. These guys are awesome. The service was great the food too. It is a small, traditional restaurant. The pizza, pasta, excellent we thought. The waiter suggested we try some flavored «hot» olive oil, it too was a treat and yum! Everyone enjoyed.

It must be one of their off nights as I see some people really like this place. When my friend’s meat raviolis arrived, the presentation was so horrible that it looked like someone just dumped a can of Chef Boyardee on the big plate, and could care less about how it looked. One of the stuffing had fallen out of ravioli, swimming in the most unappetizing looking meat sauce. How is that acceptable in any restaurant I do not know. I would have sent it back but my friend was hungry and didn’t want to wait any longer. As for me, I ordered a shrimp appetizer and the whole thing was so salty that I couldn’t finish. The only thing that was decent that night was the wait staff was very pleasant. It was his fault that the food was horrific so we still tipped accordingly.
It’s amazing to see such drastic differences in reviews here. Consistency is the key to a successful restaurant. But I suppose being in a tourist filled area, they do just fine. But there are many North Beach restaurants that the locals go to. I personally have been to quite a few of them and they were excellent. I regret to say this was one of the worse Italian food experience I have had. With so many good choices within the area, I won’t be back to give them another try.

Everything was excellent! Highly recommend this place. Their wines, pastas, bread, and even their olive oil tasted extremely fresh and hand crafted. DELISH

It was raining so we picked a place in a hurry. Lousy choice!
Prices seemed high even for North Beach. Later we realized how ridiculously priced those $ 30 entrees really were!
The service was friendly and genuinely nice.
But it was the worst Italian food we’ve had anywhere!
First, the bread was partly stale and certainly a day old.
Second, the Caesar Salad was prepared no effort and had forgettable dressing. We asked for extra anchovies, but they were low quality, unpleasantly salty, and from a can. The lettuce was fresh, so score there!
Third, the shrimp was so salty that it was almost inedible. (The waiter later agreed and gave us 50% off the shrimp entrée.) The shrimp seemed good quality, so why they marinated it in a saline solution overnight is a mystery.
Finally, and worst of all was the meat ravioli. It was an unsightly mess of red sauce poured haphazardly over ravioli that had no redeeming qualities. The cheese was dry and chalky, the pasta was so overdone the meat and cheese stuffing was falling out. It was as if an untrained pre-​teen was put in the kitchen to prepare a food that he had never tasted.
Funny thing is, it is really easy to find great or good Italian food in any neighborhood in major cities. Since these are nice people, I hope they hire some quality supervision in the kitchen.

Kleiner, gemütlicher, Italiener mit allem, was man so erwartet. Das Essen ist fast authentisch, der Chianti war gut. Man kann gut draussen sitzen (ggf beheizt) mit Blick auf den kleinen Park und Kirche. War ein schöner Abend.

Restaurant très sympa, excellent accueil et plats très bon! Je recommande ! Le vin californien que nous a conseillé notre serveur était aussi très bon!

My family and I weren’t looking for a specific place, just Italian, and we decided to pop by this place. The outside tables were full and so were the inside table near the window. Ultimately my mom chose this place after seeing the spinach raviolis.
Our server was very upbeat and entertaining. He had a cool accent too. He always tended to our requests as soon as he could.
We ordered the mushroom palenta, and it was absolutely delicious! I could not get enough, slightly sweet sauce but creamy and just amazing.
Then for mains we ordered:
— spinach ravioli with pesto
— gnocchi
— lamb shank
— sausage and mushroom
I took a (more like several) bites of each and I was glad I did. I don’t usually eat pesto outside of my family’s kitchen because my nonno’s recipe is the best I’ve tasted. But this one passed my test! The pizza was very good also. Our server gave us this sort of spicy olive oil and according to my brother and dad, it was very yummy. The gnocchi was amazing. The lamb shank was seriously tender and the sauce paired with the palenta was brilliant.
Lastly, I had just a sip of the wines. The moscato was like alcoholic apple juice but even better. And there was another one I can’t remember the name, but it was fruity and soft. I loved both! Overall, it was a great experience.

This is my favorite neighborhood Italian restaurant! The ambiance is excellent, the energy is high, and the servers are friendly and quick to your attention. I’d recommend making a reservation if you plan to go Thursday — Sunday night as they fill up quickly.
You’ll love any dish you order, but here’s some of my favorites:
— Salsicce e Funghi Pizza
— Spaghetti ai Frutti di Mare
— Gnocchi
A lot of the dishes are large enough to share with another person. Though if you want to try more than one thing, you’ll have extras for leftovers :)

This place is really good for its pastas and ambiance along with some people watching! If you can et a window seat or sit outside, it’s a great place. Service is good, response time is good as well as wait time for the food.
We have tried the pastas which are made to perfection. From the sauces, to the perfectly cooked pastas, and all the fixings that come with them, the pastas never disappoint.
The reason for no 5 stars is the pizza. It’s bland and too crispy at best. They’re consistent on these errors with their pizzas as well. Avoid the pizza, order anything else and you will be delighted.

Oh no no no.
I have to say that if you like good food, & you don’t like wasting time or money, you should definitely not dine here.
After going to the Sunday matinée of Beach Blanket Babylon (which is fabulous & everyone should see), we made the unfortunate decision to eat here. Actually, when I say we, it was really him, because he loves rabbit & they (allegedly) sometimes have rabbit on the menu. Since I happen to love the guy, I acquiesced. Let the man eat rabbit.
When the waiter informed us they did not have rabbit on this day, we should have hightailed it out of there. But that’s not our style. After we’ve been seated & perused the menu, it’s not right to get up & leave, right? It’s a matter of principle. So I thought then.
The result?
We had a painfully mediocre meal, though our principles were in tact.
I don’t think it was worth it.
No, I KNOW it wasn’t. If you did not have a table reserved, & you’ve perused the menu, & the server informs you they do not have the dish you were anticipating, it’s perfectly reasonable to, politely, get up & go elsewhere.
The sad details…
He went w the veal scallopini.
I went w pork piccata.
Both were beyond bland. My piccata «sauce» was not dreamy, lemony, buttery lusciousness, but instead thick & tasted like it came out of a can.
Our server was painfully slow.
While the restaurant was almost empty. There were only 2 other people.
We left full of restaurant regret.

Not a bad little place in the North Beach area — if the truth be known we were looking for somewhere quick, cheap and outside to take a load off after a busy day at work and this place ticked a lot of boxes.
With amazing views across from the church and close to Columbus ave, we perched outside on a table and got settled in with a local bottle of fine Sauvignon Blanc while perusing the menu. There were some great looking pizza’s but my friend and myself both went for pasta and with him having the lasagne and me taking on the lobster ravioli.
The ravioli was ok but I’ve had much better and the sauce became a bit boring with it swimming in it. Personally I’d have preferred more pasta and less sauce but that’s personal.
Service was a bit slow and their heat lamp outside didn’t need to be on at all as it was a lovely summer night — saying that, we may have just found that from being weather battered Europeans, maybe this was a cold night for SF!

Girlfriend and I got a table outside for dinner because the weather was nice and the sun was still out!
We ordered the Spinach Pesto Ravioli ($ 17.95) as our appetizer and the Conchile Brocoli ($ 18.95) and the Fettuccine Gambe ($ 19.95) for our entrees. Our two entrees were very good. Full of flavor and the pasta was cooked perfectly. What I really wanted to rave about me was their pesto ravioli! IT WAS SO GOOD, best ravioli I have ever had. I am a big fan of pesto sauce, and the pesto sauce on top of their ravioli was absolutely fresh and delicious. none-​of-​that-​premade-​stuff. The waiter told me they make their raviolis fresh in house as well!
I loved their service. The head waiter was very welcoming and made sure we were comfortable throughout our meal. We had a glass jar of water brought to our table, so that we could self-​serve ourselves during the meal. The assistant waiter sometimes would come over and refill our water glasses himself. Our pesto ravioli order was a serving of six raviolis. I liked that the waiter took the initiative to divide up our order into two separate smaller plates, before he brought them to our table.
Prices were little expensive for the food. But the food was fresh and the atmosphere was a knockout, so it made the price justifiable! I can’t wait to come back and try their lobster and dungeness crab ravioli with aurora sauce!

Das Essen ist gut, das Publikum interessant verschieden, das Personal sehr aufmerksam und freundlich (siehe hierzu auch mein Beitrag zur «House of Nanking»), was nicht selbstverständlich ist, in einer Gegend wo die meisten Gäste Touristen also «Laufkundschaft» sind.
Kann den Laden euch nur empfehlen!

Arrêt à 16h dans ce restaurant pour cause de grosse faim.
Service rapide et agréable. Nous avons pris 2 salades «greca» sans ajout de poulet et de viande. À première vue, les salades arrivant semblaient petites. Mais elles furent finalement assez consistantes, aidées par un très bon pain et une huile d’olive délicieuse. Tout était très frais et très bon.
L’addition fut plutôt légère (l’ajout de poulet aurait gonflé la note inutilement).

We’ve had dinner here during our first visit in San Francisco. Other than most of the «Italian» restaurants in the US, this one was authentic.
The service personal was very friendly and with out a doubt, Italian (that’s a +).
We’ve shared a starter and continued with home made pasta. I really loved the home made ravioli with spinach and pesto!
All in all it was very nice evening with good food and vine. Even better, we spent a couple of hours here without being kicked out. Very european :-).
