Pearce Autotech

Haven’t brought a car in yet for service but every time I’ve called, Johan and Jason were consistently courteous, patient, and generous with their time answering general questions about MINIs and Audis and their service specific to these cars. I hope they never change in how they do business and I hope they corner the market in SF.

I’ve been looking for a place to take my Mini Cooper after several less than great experiences with the Mini dealer. Jason and his team at Pearce Autotech is the place! I came in with several issues and warning lights, not quite sure what was going on. They explained to me in clear english all the issues and gave me options on the repairs. Never was I pressured into any decisions or unwarranted repairs. Overall, great place (clean) and people. Good work and good cost for value. I’ll be back again.

This is the real deal, not a fake ranting review. Jason has repaired my car several times. Most recently, I called last minute while his garage was full with other customers and he got the job done in a 5 hour turn around.
Ive had everything from clutch, brakes, front end and tires replaced by Jason and his team. As a small business owner I am always thrilled to see the pride in ownership with other small businesses.
The trust level is a 5+ stars

And the prices are reasonable and a lot cheaper than SF Min Dealership. Very fair prices for SF. 5+

As a side note, the service is so stellar that for the longest time, I thought the assistant manager was the owner. No offense Jason, juts saying you have a great team.

This is my first Unilocal review and it’s because Pearce is the best.
There service is top notch and prices are very reasonable. What more could you ask.

First off, let me say I am so glad I found this place on a whim! My husband and I were eating brunch close by (The Creamery. So good!) Anyways, after brunch we decided to walk it off, my husband has a 2002 Mini Cooper and he has been having problems with it, so when we saw this shop we decided to check it out, he spoke to a nice man named Yohan, since I’m a woman who knows nothing about cars they were speaking another language to me :) so, I was outside the shop waiting for him. My husband then called me over, and he told me that they now work on BMWs! Which is great for me cause I own one! I use to take it to SF BMW but their service just has been so disappointing to me. The staff at this shop is so nice and their prices seemed very reasonable, I also met the owner Jason, who was so sweet and accommodating, he allowed me to bring my car in tomorrow (Thursday)! So I will keep you guys updated! But I’m sure I’ll be happy with my services here.

I took my 2009 Mini to the local dealer for an oil change and brake service. While driving here the check engine light came on and upon arrival asked them to check it out. Now mind you, my car has 21,000 miles and has been meticuously maintained. The service tech informed me that the check engine light service would cost $ 299.00 and I would receive no credit towards actual labor costs if repairs are needed. I declined and while waiting for my car used Google and found Pearce. Called them and made an appointment for the next morning. Less than 1 hour after dropping off my car at Pearce they called and asked some pointed questions about whether I ever drove the car with an almost empty tank (often) and told me to stop because it was bad for my engine and led to the car’s idiot indicators to turn on — no problem found. Also told me I needed brake service — which I had done the day before at the dealer! I called the dealer and was told that for $ 99 they could turn-​off the service indicator light. REALLY!!! Picked up my car from Pearce and they charged me NOTHING!!! How unbelievable is that? PLUS, they turned off the brake service light. All for FREE!!! Not to mention that I didn’t have to pay for parking in the FiDi! My auto-​mechanics for life! Next time my car needs service I am going to Pearce… and I’m bringing donuts! LOVE THEM!!!

A few years back I had an issue with my Mini’s head light. It took my mechanic numberous attempts to fix it. I am talking seven trips in. My mechanic was a good and reasonable and frankly trusted BUT that was it… I knew I needed a specialist. That is when I started going to Pearch Autotech. Great Mini specialist. they take good care of me. I appreciate them and trust their diagnosis. They take great care of my Mini who’s pushing 12 years old and 155k miles and needing more work more frequently.

Great service. Pearce Autotech was significantly cheaper than VW while including more items in the service. And they seemed more knowledgeable about the car than the folks at the VW dealer! I asked Pearce Autotech to change the transmission fluid if necessary (I was not sure if it was done by the prior owner). They tested the fluid and decided that it was still good, so they didn’t replace it. What a great way to build customer trust! I will be back for the next service on my VW GTI without a second thought.

Like many other Unilocalers, I took my car to Pearce Autotech because of the glowing reviews on Unilocal — I’m sure glad I did.
I have a 2005 Audi Allroad Wagon which is an awesome car, but is a bit «temperamental». I bought it used and it was in need of some love then I got it and that’s exactly what it’s received from the boys at Pearce. Over the last 2 years, they have meticulously brought my «Love Wagon» back to tip top shape.
Pearce’s service is OUTSTANDING, FRIENDLY and CONVENIENT!

Found Pearce Autotech on Unilocal and so glad I did.
Needed a new battery. Called Pearce last night after a conversation with the SF Mini dealer in which the dealer quoted a really high price, couldn’t get me an appointment until next week, and, as per usual, had an off-​putting attitude. Pearce, on the other hand, was like: come in first thing tomorrow morning, we’ll do it while you wait. Came in this morning at 8 and Jason was looking out for me. Battery is changed, car’s computer told there’s a new battery, everything is explained, I get a little tutorial about what else to look out for, they top the coolant off on the house, and I’m on my way by 8:13. Seriously, that may have been the most productive 13 minutes of my year so far. And the price was much better than the dealer’s – natch. So already I’m liking this place and planning to use them in the future.
Then I stop at the grocery store. Car starts fine afterwards; battery issue resolved. Then the same engine light comes on that was on before the battery was replaced. I think maybe it’s about the battery, and either way should be looked at, so I call Pearce. Jason is like – come on back. I get back and they run some tests. Turns out, not the battery, but again, everything is explained clearly, with options, and respectfully, despite my obvious ignorance. Long story short, going back on Monday. Every other car I’ve ever had, I’ve had serviced at the dealer, but Pearce is so much better than the SF Mini dealer that I don’t even have words to quantity how much. I’m definitely making the switch.

My wife’s Mini is out of warranty, and so we wanted nothing to do with the price-​gouging dealer anymore. And so Unilocal led us to Pearce Autotech, and we were not disappointed.
I received instant quotes over the phone from Jason and later Yohan regarding some major work that needed to be done. Yohan talked me through EVERYTHING, including some things that COULD need to be done once they got in there and got a full look at the car. He gave me a quote for that and everything else, all without asking.
In short, both Yohan and Jason were very honest and up-​front right from the word «Go,» and that professionalism carried through to the end of the job. We have definitely found a new service home for my wife’s Mini. These are the kind of people you dream about dealing with when you dread having to take your aging car in for out-​of-​warranty service. We will be taking the Mini here for as long as we have it.

Jason and Johannes are the real deal. Been taking my ’08 mini to Pearce for the last 3 yrs now. I can drop it off first thing in the morning, pick it up after work and my mini’s purring like a kitten. All maintenance on minis is expensive but Pearce will be less than the dealership and they won’t try to upsell you on everything.

Highly recommended for Minis. So glad to finally have an alternative to the dealership.

I took my 2007 Mini Cooper to the dealership recently to get an oil change, and of course, they found a bunch of things that needed fixing for a total cost of more than $ 2,000. I wanted to get a second opinion before dropping that much cash, so I took my car into Pearce Autotech, based on great reviews I read on Unilocal.
I called on a Friday and was able to schedule an appointment for the following Tuesday at 8am. Johannes called me to explain what they had found – same problems as what the dealership found (thermostat needed replacing, oil gasket leaking…) – but Pearce’s prices were lower than the dealership. Johannes was great and took the time to explain the problems to me, why they needed to be fixed, and what they were going to do. I ended up saving $ 300 by taking it to Pearce, and I thought the service was really great. So far, my car seems to be in great shape. I will definitely be using Pearce from now on.

I went into Pearce to get my air conditioning system repaired, and front brake changed on my Saab. They came back and said that rear breaks needed to be changed as well, and that I had a leaky oil gasket. After the car was fixed, the brakes made a funny noise every time i use them, which when i went back to talk to them about, they acted like it didn’t exist. A year later the air conditioning went back to not working, and they now say they don’t work on Saabs anymore. Doing a little research, i was charged way more for the air conditioning fix then what is available at other vendors. Wish I went somewhere else for this service.

Wow. A helpful and honest auto shop. Highly recommend these guys if you need your Mini serviced.
I vacuumed under my seats (and disconnected the wiring to do so), thus causing an obnoxious air bag light to come on. Called the Mini dealership, who couldn’t fix it until next week. They roughly quoted $ 150. Mind you, it takes a solid 60 seconds to reset the alert.
Called Pearce who got me in same-​day and fixed it within 5 minutes of showing up. They even refused payment and were happy to do it for free! Free! Much better than being bent over by the dealership.
Go to Pearce for any Mini servicing needs.

Incredibly honest people.
I had to change a lot of things on my A4 and they were great in explaining why, what and what piece did what as well as telling me not to change some other parts that could wait.
The day after the service I discovered a crack on my windshield, caused either by them or the tire shop. Needless to say they got me a new windshield immediately.
Also changed my headlights yesterday for ZERO $.
Amazing. So glad I found a go-​to shop for my car.

Pearce Autotech is AWESOME. I’ve had my fair share of horrible shop experiences, and it is awesome to find a diamond amongst the zirconia. My Audi drives like a brand new car, except that it’s been my baby for 10 years. Now that Jason and company have given it the right attention it needs, I actually prefer driving it daily to my M3. That’s HUGE, especially since I was ready to give up on it due to some nightmare «repairs» done by a shop who was reputable way back when.
Pearce AutoTech is also incredibly honest and will not gauge you. Love these guys!

I am so glad to have found Pearce Autotech after browsing through Unilocal for a shop that specializes in Audi. These guys are honest, knowledgeable, efficient and provided great customer service.
I first went to Royal Motors because I needed my key fob re-​programmed for my 2001 TT. They offered me a complimentary checkup and stated that my front strut mount bushings were worn and needed to be replaced. The quote over the phone was $ 270 each side, which would equal $ 540 to change just the rubber bushings. I had a pre-​purchase inspection done just 5 months ago and also had an oil change 4 months ago and the other shops both said the car was in great condition. I was skeptical about the dealer’s recommendation and decided to get a 2^nd opinion.
I called Pearce, brought the car in this morning and got a call about an hour later. Just as I suspected, my car was fine, they did not see a need to do any work on it except replace the broken dipstick. They found that my oil level was low and even topped it off for FREE!!!
I was soooo happy and relieved because the biggest worry when I purchased the car was that it was going to become a money pit! Thanks Jason!!!
I have just found myself a trustworthy mechanic and I will be bringing my car in going forward for oil changes and services :)
