Parc 55 San Francisco – A Hilton Hotel

Let me start by saying I’m a big Hilton fan and stay at Hilton if theres one available in the area I’m going. I am HHonors and own timeshare with Hilton, so I’m quite used to the quality that comes with Hilton.
I wrote a long review but for those who dont have the time a quick run through. $ 55 a day to park. The price is not reflective on the rooms. They have smaller than average beds. Just stay somewhere else.
This is the middle of a 3-​city mini road trip. We just drove in from Las Vegas where we stayed at the Elara resort by Hilton. As we pulled up I was trying to figure out where the self parking was, when I asked the guys they plainly just said we don’t have self parking it has to be valed for $ 55 a night. I was shocked that one, there’s no self parking and that they charge you $ 55 to park your car. I couldn’t believe it but after a 10hr drive I was way to tired to try to figure out an alternative. And, for $ 55 dollars I was expecting to walk in to something spectacular but was really disappointed.
Checking in was easy, they honored the HHonors check in line, I think it helped that i was checking in after 7pm because of the drive. The staff werent super friendly like other Hiltons but they werent rude. I asked about the parking and they said they have an alternative somewhere down the street for like $ 15 cheaper a night, but again I was dead tired so I sucked it up, very unhappy but I did.
The beds are comfortable but really small. The room is mediocre at best and if you factor in the price they are charging its ridiculous. And again on top of that price there is the valet fee a night (blah).
I picked this hotel because I thought it would be really convenient with it being located right next to the Powell bart station but really the convenience was no way near worth the price. If you want to go anywhere else besides maybe fishermans dwarf it is not as convenient as I thought. We had to walk in the opposite directions to go to China Town, Lombart st. Along the way, we past 2 more Hilton hotels one of them I saw offered SELF-​PARKING! And I remember this Hilton from when I was deciding on hotels and it was cheaper.
The cleaning staff gets started entirely to early. It wasn’t even 10am and they didn’t even knock they just let themselves in screaming cleaners or something like that and saw us and walked back out. Didnt apologize or anything, needless to say we were all up after that military style wake up. And also they should probably really check at least there restroom walls for Fungus, there is no vent in the restroom, all the steam just stays in the restroom building up on the ceiling. The AC was broken, I mean I know its cold right now outside but that doesnt mean I want to feel like I’m in summer while in my room. The AC looked like it was working but it kept turning itself early from «reaching» the temperature set to but even then felt much warmer than the temperature it said it was in the room. The room was also very plain with no fridge or anything. I basically stayed at a very expensive Hotel 6.
I was suppose to be here for 3 nights but I’m eating the money for all 3 nights and checking out early. And never booking this hotel again. Do youself a favor and book at one of the other Hiltons in the immediate area I’m not sure how they are but I mean you cant really do worst than here. Also calling Hilton directly because I’m sure this is not the standard they want to keep in their Hotels.

I got an upgrade to a very nice and spacious room, but with awful ‘views’ to a semi-​industrial roof.
I love that you can open the vents under the windows for a bit of fresh air from outside.
Like most hotels in USA, the rooms are poorly lit. I don’t know why there are not more/​stronger lights in hotels here.
Breakfast was good, Hilton standard.
The –expensive– valet parking service is very convenient, you text a code to the number they give you and the car is ready in 10 – 15 min.
The location is great for shopping, dining and live entertainment. However be careful if you walk one block West, sketchy neighborhood (Eddy/​Jones)
I would definitely stay here again.

Negative 5 stars if possible. We booked a room a month in advance and when we tried to check in they had given the room to someone else. They said all they could do was give us our money back without a penalty. Are you kidding? ?? Like it’s our fault you can’t honor the room we booked. Terrible way to manage and definitely NOT hospitable! This experience has not only ruined my weekend but I WILL NEVER STAY AT A HILTON AGAIN. TERRIBLE WAY TO MANAGE A HOTEL

For the most part this hotel was fine, with one glaring exception. They NEVER had enough people at the check in desk. The area is not well organized to start with, so there were always customers milling around trying to figure out where they were supposed to stand to wait for help. Most of the time there would be an employee working at one of the stations that had his/​her head down and didn’t acknowledge anyone. That left only one person working, and he/​she was busy with someone, leaving the rest of us to just wonder what we were supposed to do. This happened on at least 3 occasions, such that I never did check out of the hotel. I assumed, like most hotels, that I would eventually be emailed a bill, but two days later still nothing, forcing me to contact them. We’ll see how quickly they respond.
Also, I should mention that there was construction outside the hotel that started at 6:00 AM with the loud beeping sound that comes when a truck backs up. This was incessant once it started. That’s not the hotel’s fault, but it still contributed to the overall experience.

1÷26÷16 update — I just found out that not only do they not have room service, they don’t even have «a proper restaurant». Really guys? I mean, you have the Club 55 (or something to that effect), but it’s just «bar food». And they also have a little Thai restaurant. So basically, you have to want to eat Asian food or chicken wings/​salad. I find it pretty unacceptable, and solicited the three-​star rating.
Stayed here a number of time under different owners. It’s average. The check in staff isn’t the friendliest, but I wouldn’t go so far as to say «rude». There was a line at check in, but I’m Hhonors gold, so I go to the Hhonors desk, as there’s no line. The girl at check in actually said «There’s a line.» I just pointed at the sign and said «Hhonors». She sent me to the back of the line. Seriously??? Oh well, it was a short line.
The room was nice, though even on the 24^th floor you could hear street noise. Sorry, but ear plugs don’t cut it. It’s not a Holiday Inn Express, go instal sound-​proof argon Windows like they do at the airport.
The thermostat didn’t work, so I froze in a 72-​degree room. It was 10:00 and I was ready for bed, so I didn’t feel like the call to Maintenance.
But in a disturbing trend of San Francisco hotels, room service is eliminated. WHY? Room service is a staple of the business traveler, or just people who want to wake up lazy and start the day slow. Or even the insanely overpriced coffee and dessert that you want to get at 10:30 at night that I NEED! (I have a doctor’s note that says I need cake or pie late at night in my hotel room! [not really]). BRING BACK ROOM SERVICE!!! And, please, PLEASE don’t reply that the Director of Food and Beverage is exploring options. There’s only ONE option. Bring back room service. Problem solved. Room service will get you another star.

Oh what a place. Smacked right in the middle of it all. Restaurants, shopping, nightlife,& transportation. Stood here for 4 days the weekend before Christmas and enjoyed every moment. The staff were a bunch of cool folks. Clean rooms, good hvac, & good views. The elevators lagged at times but hey that’s everywhere when people are trying to start their day. The lower floors gets a lot of noise from the streets so be ready for that. It is Downtown so it can be crazy at times, still a good place to stay. Enjoy this place, we did and sure to do so again.

I’ve stayed here twice (most recently this past weekend, the other time at the end of May 2015). The first time I came here, I was luckily upgraded to a junior suite (and it was on the corner). It was super big and provided way too much space than I needed for just 2 people. The check out line was horrendous the next morning but I thought that was just an anomaly. I would have given that stay a 4 star.
This past weekend I stayed here again in one of the regular rooms. The beds were a little small for 2 grown adults to sleep on. The checkin line was ridiculous and took almost 30 minutes to check in. The most annoying part of my stay this time was that house cleaning knocked on our door at 9am. I mean… most people are still sleeping at that time I would think? That’s a little TOO early for housekeeping… but that’s not even the worst part. 30 minutes later… THEY KNOCKED AGAIN. 2 of my friends were still sleeping the second time they knocked and was woken up by the loud knock. Thanks housekeeping. Way to make me feel like you don’t want me in my room right now…
We knew from the check in line that the checkout line would take forever so we ended up just checking out 30 minutes early and peacing out.
As a side note, there was no ice bag to be found with the ice bucket (and no mini fridge!). It was obvious that they rushed to have this room made because we got a random call asking if we had everything we needed…
I would definitely explore the other options for staying around Union Square. I liked this hotel only because of it’s prime location. But I’m sure there are other cheaper, more courteous hotels around!

While the room was nice, everything else about this hotel was really bad…
Came here for a one night stay to spend the night in SF and play tourist and bar hop. Check in at 3pm was horrible. Came around 3:30 and the line was backed up to their escalator… They only had 4 people very slowly performing checkins. It was at least a 15 minute wait in line. After I had checked in, the line still had not died down one bit either.
The room itself was fine, fairly clean and spacious. But shortly after we checked in, it was obvious that they were still performing house cleaning as there were a lot of vacuums to be heard on our floor. One of the hotel staff checked to see if we had everything we needed, but shouldn’t a room inspection have been done beforehand? One other gripe about their rooms is for a hotel of this level, you would think it would have a mini fridge, but it does not.
Apparently the next morning around 9AM, maid service decides to come in already… We weren’t expecting this so we didn’t bother to put up the door sign, but it was pretty annoying that they come in this early. I rarely see hotels come in before 10−11am.
Check out was also a pain in the butt, with a substantial line forming as well. Took me a while just to hand the keys over to the front desk… I would not recommend this hotel in terms of service that does not match what you’re paying for to stay here…

This hotel will always be sentimental for me because this is where my boyfriend and I stayed for our first ever SF trip. Everything about the hotel is pretty… until you see the hallways of where your room is located. I forgot what floor my boyfriend and I were on…12^th? 16^th? Something fairly high up.
Here’s why it did not get 4 – 5 stars for me:
1) The beds. We just had a regular standard room with 2 «queen» beds. Let me tell you, those beds were NOT queen sized. I sleep on a queen sized bed at home. These beds were NARROW. It was like the size between a twin and a full. It was definitely not even full size. Maybe in length, but definitely not in width.
2) Our view. We got a crappy view of Tenderloin from our room and not of the pretty Union Square.
3) The design of the rooms and hallways were not as modern/​urban as they perceive themselves to be. It did seem and feel pretty traditional and outdated.
4) The Thai restaurant downstairs SMELLS. It’s just a horrid, rancid smell.
Service was good and fast. As far as noise levels, I guess since we were pretty high up, we weren’t really bothered at all. The location is A1. Parc 55 is close to everywhere you want to go as a tourist.
We didn’t park our car here because we were not going to pay an extra $ 58/​night just to keep our car safe for 4 days. We parked at a garage in Tenderloin for $ 25/​night. Sketchy, but it saved us a hell of a lot of money.
Parc 55 has such great memories and we got such an awesome rate on our room for our stay ($ 99/​night), but I hope we’ll be staying at a nicer place next time.

This was my first time at the Parc 55, I stayed there 5 nights preceding Christmas. The locations is good, about a 2 min walk to Union Square. Room was decent quality and clean for the price. They also have a top notch exercise room. My key issue, was the overall lack of friendliness and service quality from the staff. I’ve been Hilton Gold/​Diamond for many years, and would rate this as one of the worse experiences.
What really made me angry was the breakfast experience. I was given multiple coupons for a free «continental» breakfast. When I tried to use the coupons, I was told I could upgrade for $ 10 a person to for the full meal. I politely declined since we were planning on a big lunch, and was directed to cubby hole with a that had a few items. The part that pissed me off, was that when I tried to sit in the dining area, I was told that that was «not my area» and directed to the bar lounge. For the next 30 mins, none of the waiters would refill my coffee or even acknowledge my existence. At the same time, the «host» kept giving me dirty looks as i went back to the cubby hole for more food.
When we asked for directions to the 49rs stadium, we received a similarly non friendly response from the concierge.
My advice would be to steer clear of the Parc 55 unti they teach their staff some basic hospitality lessons. Seems like recent guests have had similar experiences.

I stayed at the Parc 55 for 5 nights in December for the AGU conference.
One morning I was supposed to meet a coworker in the lobby for a quick breakfast. After waiting for her for 10 minutes, I asked a front desk staff member if she could call her for me. The staff member (I don’t remember her name, but she was an older British woman) punched a few numbers into the phone and handed it to me. I heard nothing, it sounded like the phone was off. So I thought maybe I was supposed to hit a call button. I leaned over to see if there was something I was supposed to do, and the staff member rushed over at me and yelled at me like I was a child saying «DON’T LOOK AT THAT!!!» very loudly in front of the whole lobby. I was horribly embarrassed.
I told her that the phone wasn’t working. She pushed a few more buttons and then loudly said «She doesn’t want you to call her, this number is RESTRICTED!» That sounded bizarre to me, but I gave up and just emailed my coworker from the lobby. She came right down to meet me, and I explained to my coworker about her phone being «restricted.» She and I went back to the staff member and she told the staff that she never asked for her number to be restricted and did not want it restricted. The woman did not apologize and just said «Okay, we’ll change that.»
I am pretty sure that staff member just didn’t know how to use the phone.
Further mishaps include: an alarm going off on Sunday night that told everyone on my floor to exit the building. When we all got outside, no one was there to tell us what to do or explain the situation. We all just went back up to the floor since there didn’t appear to be a reason not to, but it was weird.
The furniture is outdated and dusty, the breakfast is a huge rip off, they don’t have a business center (unless you count FedEx), the staff members are rude and the area surrounding the hotel is sketchy.
I highly recommend avoiding this hotel and staying at the Chancellor Hotel or Hotel G instead, I have had much better experiences at those hotels.

This was my first visit to this hotel, and I was mostly impressed. It was nice to come to a busy city again and have the valet be so convenient.
The ground entrance was nicely decorated for Christmas, as was the main lobby. I noticed that, during busier times, the check-​in queue would back up, and there wasn’t much staff to assist, but I arrived when it wasn’t busy, so this was no problem for me.
All of the staff were delightful — even the restaurant staff during the busy Saturday morning breakfast.
The continental breakfast left a bit to be desired, so I always upgraded to the full buffet. It was a bit pricey for the little bit I ate, but there’s a good selection, if you eat more.
I was in a large king room on a top floor. There also was a pull-​out couch (which I didn’t need) and plenty of gorgeous windows from which to view the city. The faux wood laminate on the furniture seemed a bit tacky for how nice the place was overall.
Something that surprised me was that there is no room service. But at least it was easy enough to order food from the restaurant and take it back to my room.
The location is great — convenient and safe. I walked about a mile in the late evening to a nearby restaurant and felt entirely safe.
Despite the few short-​comings, I’d be delighted to stay here again.

This place used to be great a few years ago, but now — forget about it.
Though it is located in a super convenient spot, that’s the only thing I can say is positive about it. The hotel looks old, the rooms aren’t comfy at all and you can hear the street below, and service is poor. It’s hard to believe that a «nice» hotel in SF doesn’t have room service — this is so dumb! They used to have room service, so why not now? There is an on-​site restaurant, so can’t someone run food up? Well scratch that, the small amount of offerings at the restaurant are terrible.
Stay away. Stay somewhere else unless you have a Groupon or something and really feel like being medicore. Much better choices in the city for the money.

It’s…fine. I stayed at the Palace last year (and one of the Kimptons the year before that) which perhaps led me to have unreasonable expectations for this hotel.
Pros: Clean, good location kind of, decent prices for SF if you can get a good deal. Beds are firm and very comfortable. Staff is friendly and helpful.
Cons: No fridge in room. Bottled water was $ 6, so I had to walk to Walgreens nearby every other day to buy some and haul it back to my room. My allergies went CRAZY and I ended up taking Zyrtec to handle them, leaving me too groggy to explore the city. No pool. Some people complained about the street and construction noise but I found it was tolerable.

Stayed from Friday to Thursday for the ACCP conference in the Hilton hotel. The staff was friendly and extremely accommodating. We were first booked for a room on the 21^st floor however noticed that our neighbors had crying children. We made a call to the front desk and they were more than happy to move us to another room! No more questions asked. We were moved up to the 30^th floor with an amazing view of the city. Every morning our beds were made and room was tidied up for us. I stayed in a standard room with two other girls. Things get messy. Shampoos, towels, and everything else you think you would need was restocked everyday.
The only complaint I have is that the WiFi isn’t free. You’d think that paying bug bucks for a room would at least get you free WiFi. Nope.

Booked a room through Hotwire and luckily enough, got Parc 55 San Francisco for $ 140! Great hotel in the center of San Francisco, walking distance to everything you need in the city. While that might seem like a good price, keep in mind that valet parking is $ 60. No problem there however I thought as most hotels in the area are well beyond $ 200 — just know to expect to pay that much for valet.

I was here for the Internapalooza conference so I didn’t stay overnight in a room — this review is just for the 4^th floor conference room area.
That said, it was a great venue! Even with over 500 people trying to get jobs at AirBnB, Über, Lyft, a16z, and several other companies the venue stayed cool and was organized. They kept bringing out sliders and quesadillas and had cheese and bread plates. There were also pitchers filled with ice tea and lemonade! My only complaint was the lack of vegetarian options available besides the cheese quesadillas!

I’d give the PARC 55 a * * * * 4 Star Rating.
There’s lots of pros and a few cons.
It’s a Hilton Hotel, I think formerly a Wyndham property. There’s 32 Floors, and the elevators are above average in availability and speed, ‘tho if you have to go to the Suites in the higher floors it can take a while due to stopping for let in and out other residing guests.
Parking is «meh» and it’s Valet Parking only that costs about $ 50 per day (and after taxes and tips, plan on it being $ 60 per day). The Valet staff are friendly and it’s fast to get your car, it’s just pretty expensive when you think of the cost. I know a few people who have parked on the streets instead, but the problem is that this borders the Tenderloin District which is SF’s somewhat skid row of sort, and is pretty sketchy if you walk too far into the wrong direction.
The hotel room we reserved wasn’t ready at the promised by policy 3pm check in, and we obviously weren’t able, even as Hilton Honors members, to check in early as a preferred customer. They did remedy it by giving us another room, a slight upgrade in location, but not size or value I don’t think. They made good of a bad situation, so I give them kudos for handling their customer service with care.
The bell desk was very friendly and accommodating as was the valet, chambermaids, maintenance and all staff here.
The room itself, and we rented a suite, was nice and the view, very stunning.
The king sized bed was wide, a bit over 5′ 6″ and very soft n’ comfy for 2, creating a spacious sleep environment.
I think what would make this hotel a lot better (and keeping this from a 5 star rating) would be if there were more affordable and convenient parking options within the hotel or in the surrounding area, but that’s the price to pay for visiting a major metropolitan area like SF.
The location is actually fairly good for being in Downtown San Francisco and it’s easy to take the streets and navigate The City, so I like where this place is more so than a lot of other hotels where you can get gridlocked in traffic in/​out.
It’s centrally located near the Powell Street BART Station for public transit and the Cable Car turnstile as well as The San Francisco Center Mall, which is monolithic, ‘tho chaotic to take the escalators by their less than intuitive and somewhat inconvenient design. This is a good place for a tourist who wants to navigate the area to reside, it’s about a 15 min walk to Union Square and Chinatown too.

Ein absolutes Touristen-​Hotel ohne jeglichen Charme.
Habe 3Tage in einer Sunset-​Suite verbracht — 31. floor. Grösse der Suite sehr, sehr angenehm — Einrichtung ohne jede Idee einfach und simpel. Bett ok. Ansonsten den Preis nicht wert. Umgebung nicht besonders sicher — aber dafür direkt Marketstreet.

Habe mir bewusst fast eine Woche Zeit gelassen um das Hotel zu bewerten, weil ich nicht wollte das negative Eindrücke aus SF das Urteil trüben. (unzählige Homeless die leider sehr aufdringlich auch vor dem Hotel «betteln», stark verschmutzte Umgebung usw.)
Aber leider sind mehr als drei Sterne nicht drin. Preis Leistung passt leider nicht zusammen: der erste Eindruck ist total stylisch, Personal in der Lobby freundlich. Aber die Zimmer sind viel zu klein, keine Besonderheiten bis auf Kaffezubereiter. Da erwarte ich schon mehr bei fast 300 € die Nacht. WLAN Preis ist fast schon eine Unverschämtheit mit 15 $ (selbst im IBIS umsonst), Parken nur mit Service 55 $ am Tag. Sanitäranlagen (WC und Dusche) sind so laut, dass es an den Start einer Boing 380 erinnert.
Positiv ist die zentrale Lage zur Market Street (Shopping), Cable Car und zum Union Square.

Der erste Eindruck war gut. Man hat sich mit der Lobby und dem Bar-​Bereich Mühe gegeben. Das Personal an der Rezeption war sehr freundlich, hilfsbereit und entgegenkommend. Gleiches gilt für die Zimmermädchen. Auch das Zimmer ist durchaus ansprechend, besonders wenn man aus dem Fenster guckt. So ein Blick aus dem 25. Stock hat schon was. Im Bad darf man dann nicht mehr ganz so genau hinschauen. Der Kaltwasserregler am Waschbecken wackelt bedenklich, auch der Türklinke vertraue ich nicht bedingungslos. Die Toilettenspülung versetzt​mir auch noch nach Tagen einen Schreck, weil sie so dermaßen einen Schlag lässt, dass​auch d​ie​anderen US-​amerikanischen Spülungen​in Ehrfurcht erstarren. Soweit die auffälligsten Badezimmerbegebenheiten. Das Fitness-​Studio ist gut ausgestattet, modern und wird regelmäßig gründlich desinfiziert. Nur ins Schwitzen kommt man nicht so richtig, denn es ist​etwas unterkühlt da drin.
Alles in allem kein schlechtes Hotel​, sauber und​in praktischer zentraler Lage​, doch die Website verspricht mehr als sie halten kann.

Tolle Lage zwischen Union Square und Market Street. Schöné Zimmer, allerdings nur Double– statt Queen-​Betten. Club-​Etagen ab 27. Stock mit super Blick und eigener Lounge im 31. Stock (kostenloses Frühstück, abends: Softdrinks, Desserts). WLAN teuer 14.95 $ pro Tag.
