At Pacific Puffs we are dedicated to offering premium, home-​baked style cream puffs using only the finest fresh local ingredients. Our handcrafted puffs have been perfected over decades as an old family recipe and are baked daily using our signature small batch baking method to ensure the highest quality.

We will remain focused on freshness, customer service and quality in bringing our gourmet food and beverage products to local residents and tourists alike.

History

Established in 2009.

We founded our business in 2009 with one fundamental goal: to bring our classic dessert out of the family kitchen and onto your plate.

Although Pacific Puffs recently opened for business, it has been decades in the making (and the baking). As an old family recipe, the cream puff has been our favorite dessert for as long as we can remember. Growing up, a cream puff was always the special treat we looked forward to most on birthdays and special occasions. It is now our pleasure to offer our favorite dessert every day of the week!

Business Owner

Pacific Puffs, a family owned specialty bakery and café, recently opened its flagship retail store located on Union Street in the heart of San Francisco’s Cow Hollow district. The company offers a variety of cream puffs, baked fresh daily in small batches using an old family recipe. Pacific Puffs is owned and operated by brothers Trent and Rhys Carvolth.

The Carvolths, born and raised in the bay area, developed a taste for desserts at an early age, which they attribute directly to their mother, Noreen. «Mom had perfected her recipe for cream puffs before we were born. Growing up, they were our favorite dessert and always the one we requested for birthdays and special occasions,» said Trent Carvolth.

The brothers are thrilled about the shop’s location. «Union Street is one of the landmark streets in the city with a rich history of successful small businesses,» said Rhys Carvolth. «We are very happy to become a part of such a fabulous community and tradition.»

had my first puff today and it was amazing. the original was the best, but I had the salted caramel as well. I prefer my dessert not too sweet, so for me, the original was just what I needed. it would be perfect if they had minis. wish I was closer to the city so I could be a regular here, but I’ll settle for having it be a treat every now and again.

You know what dreams are made of? Well for me, they’re made of the perfect cream puff. Pacific puffs, thank you for making my dreams come true!
I was visiting from out of state and had told my significant other who lives in SF a couple of months ago how much I missed the delicious cream puffs we used to have back home in Iran. The puffs there were filled with real whipped cream, and I couldn’t find any that tasted the same here in the US. So he went on the hunt to find the perfect cream puff filled with real whipped cream for me, and after a long and arduous search, he found a pastry shop willing to create the perfect puffs for us for Christmas.
The fact that they were willing to create a cream puff just the way we wanted made my Christmas that much sweeter! Rhys was very friendly and helpful and my significant other was adamant about me writing a review to thank Pacific Puffs for all of their help. He, myself and our taste buds truly thank Pacific Puffs and we are definitely going to be return customers. Thank you again, your puffs were scrumptious!

This was a nice little place in SF that has different cream puffs.

The cashier was very friendly, patient, and professional. No complaints here.
Cream Puffs:
Honestly, the cream puffs are the reason for the low star rating. I don’t believe that the puff should be filled with cream before the customer orders it. The puff tasted stale and soggy. I’m used to the puff tasting like a cross between a flakey croissant and light fluffy cake. The cream was decent, but I was disappointed with the cream puff overall.
Overall:
I would not recommend this place.

Argh. What is this filing?! It’s not custard cream… it’s almost like it’s just whipped cream. Good shell but feeling duped. I now want a Beard Papa instead.

Wow. Amazing cream puffs. Simply amazing. I tried the salted caramel, the regular and the pumpkin spice. I don’t typically like pumpkin, but it turned out to be my favorite one. The cream is not overly sweet or greasy. The cover is not overly thick. Everything about these cream puffs is perfect. I could eat a dozen at a time. Highly recommended if you like cream puffs!

So good! I tried the chocolate cream with chocolate on top. I really enjoyed it, more than Beard Papa. I would love to come back to try the others. A nice little treat after dining on Union and perfect for snacking on while walking around the shops.

First found this little gem when I was here for the Union Street Fest earlier this year. I remember being amazed at how much creamy custardy goodness they were able to fit into a light puff shell *without* the slightest hint of sogginess. And the adorning fruit was a great touch.
Today I swing by to check out their special pumpkin spice flavor and I was not at all disappointed. They unfortunately don’t have it in a small size, but you’ll be glad there’s more to eat once you have your first bite lol. Deliciously creamy with all the kick of fall… definitely a solid joint for dessert!

I am a cream puff lover. It’s my favorite form of dessert. What’s not to love? Pacific Puffs is my favorite. The regular size puffs are way better than the minis.
I recommend the plain kind, irrespective of internal cream, because the frosting can take away from the cream. I mean, it’s still great, but your first cream puff should be the plain one, in my opinion.

People of Unilocal — wtf, mates? This is a cream puff place… they’re bound to be messy and there’s nothing weird about them not having Asian flavors — they’re French pastries. ANYWAY — for those of us who like cream puffs, Pacific Puffs makes good cream puffs. Bottom line. I’ve only tried the traditional and the chocolate. Both very good, but I personally prefer the traditional. While I don’t make them often, I prefer my homemade ones (hence only 4 stars). For those of you who don’t like desserts/​cream puffs… stop wasting delicious things that I could be eating instead.

I came here August 1st around 7pm just to get the worst costumer service ever. The cashier was watching something very compelling in her laptop because whenever I went to order something she trowed her earphones and knocked her chair and almost broke my credit card when swiping it. She did that three times I got enough and I asked her what was wrong and why she had to almost brake my credit card and trow the cookies I’m buying and she answered in the most rude way that she was tired and didn’t want to be there, still trow my cookies again didn’t apologized. Sorry guys but you didn’t only loose one costumer as I was with friends and none of us are coming back if that girl is there !!

So there isn’t much so say on this place so I’ll make it quick.
Yummy yum yum! So good! Lots of little cream puffs and big cream puffs, you think the big one won’t be a bough until you eat it, then it’s just the right amount! It’s sweet and cold and yum!
They have a few different varieties an they change them every so often.
I believe you can order them for parties too!
The price is just right.
The place is small but, hey, you can walk and eat them!

I found the food truck in Menlo Park at the Caltrain station Off the Grid wagon circling. I was super impressed with how clean, clear and bright the truck was. The guy serving was cute and friendly, too. And most importantly the salted caramel puff was revoltingly AWESOME! My waistline and wallet are so happy I found this truck so far from my home. I want to try all of the puffs. So wonderful! Try one or all of them. Cheers!

Puffs were superr filled with CREAMMMM. It was soft light and puffy (of course because its called cream puffs), but it really brought out what it said it was. I was impressed that when you got it, it was served cold and not just stored in the front window. Eat it cold while you can to get the whole experience otherwise a few minutes later won’t hurt :)

I’m not a huge dessert person, but I typically make room for cream puffs. I just love these cream filled things! Asked the roommate to pick some up for me before picking me up from work.

These were good. The filling light and not to sweet. But the pastry on the mini puffs was on that harder side. Made some of them hard to eat without the filling leaking out. My favorites were the regular sized puffs. The pastry was softer and they still retained a flakiness to them. The fruit whip was my favorite. Who doesn’t like cream and strawberry?
Skip the mini puffs and go for the regular sized. Their pastry seems to be softer.

Pacific Puffs is located in the middle of a bunch of restaurants and shops so it’s a great place to stop and get a snack (we came after Umami Burger). Got a vanilla, chocolate coated puff and the seasonal peppermint one. Yes. this is a late post but I dug up the pictures again and decided to review.
Both tasted pretty good. I especially liked the peppermint one because it had the peppermint taste inside which was especially refreshing because the puff was cold. Kind of expensive if you look at how small it is, it’s like the size of a purple plum. The pastry is sort of hard and a little soggy on the inside, but you can either get the filling pumped in on the spot like Beard Papas or get your cream puffs cold by having them pre-​filled and cooled. Really isnt a best of both worlds for this one. Not bad!

Great puffs!
You can buy them to go or have a puff at the shop with a cup of coffee or tea. I love cream puffs and when I found this shop I was in heaven.
I had a large classic cream puff — with vanilla custard filling and chocolate glaze.
The pastry tasted great — the texture was just right, and the vanilla custard was excellent — not to sweet. It was a perfect cream puff

My current obsession. Cream puffs. Now they’ve been around but somehow made it back to my heart once again thanks to Pacific Puffs. If I have to be obese I would so do it with 50lbs of cream puffs. Yes, there’s Beard Papas but Pacific Puff is, dare I say?, crème de la crème. Perfect profiteroles with the marriage of a perfect filling. Not too thick not too light just right. I love the simplicity of plain vanilla, when I do feel a tad naughty I order the salted caramel. The lightness of the choux tricks me into thinking that these puffs are forgiving in calories. Calories schmalories. Fat Camp here I come.
