We are so lucky to have found Patrick. We’ve worked with a number of contractors, but Patrick is the best. He was quick with a quote, stuck to it, came when he said he would, finished in two days, and did beautiful work. We will absolutely hire him again.

I hired Patrick to replace back yard fencing shared with two neighbors and would very highly recommend him. I agree with many of the review comments — craftsman expertise and understanding of retaining walls, professional, reasonably priced, and patient in working through decisions with an aim to satisfy. More specifically, when my neighbor and I were trying to decide the new fence height, Patrick put up a section of the fence for us to consider over the weekend after which we decided to reduce the height by 6″ and were very pleased with the results. It made all the difference and my neighbors are equally delighted.

Asked to fix my wooden deck with water damage. Replaced all the joists and replaced the deck flooring with composite wood. Also fixed one side of my railing. Gave me a reasonable estimate and completed the project in time. The deck looks new and feels much safer. Will call them again for any work in my backyard. thanks!

We hired Patrick to build a new fence on one side of our yard, and a new back gate. He provided a reasonable estimate, in writing, and was very pleasant to deal with. He arrived promptly each day, at the designated time, and completed the work in the specified time. The fence and gate look great! He also hauled away the old fence, leaving the yard in good condition. I would highly recommend working with Patrick.

I needed to have one side of my back yard fence replaced, which is a pretty small job, so I was very happy that Patrick agreed to do it. He came over promptly, explained what he was going to do and gave me a written estimate. He was able to start on the job the following week. We just had a good-​neighbor fence installed by Langan Construction. Since we didn’t know exactly what we wanted, Patrick gave us 2 quotes so we could choose the best for us. Patrick built our fence like he was building it for himself. The friendliness, attention to detail and craftsmanship is outstanding.

I was referred to Patrick Langan from a talented general contractor here in San Francisco. The completed fence I am looking at now matches my high expectations and Patrick solved some very tricky design decisions that saved us both time, materials and money. Patrick specializes in decks and fences and from looking at his website I could see he had what it takes to deliver what I was looking for.
I got several bids on my fence project (85 feet on a corner lot). Patrick came to the site and I had completed some initial drawings and measurements to give him a sense of what I was thinking. The fence required a new concrete footer that became the solid foundation of all that followed. I have been a builder full time in the past and I was more than comfortable with Patricks design savvy, attention to details and solid engineering decisions on this project. Clearly he has a bounty of experience in this realm and I have to say, when multiple neighbors come up to you after the job is done saying they love the fence and can I pass on the contact info of the builder for friend, and other neighbors asked Patrick to bid on their deck and fence project, it reaffirms your original choice was top shelf.
Patricks bid was on target, he kept the site secure and clean. Afterwards the yard was cleaned up so that the only thing left was a beautiful solid fence. In my opinion you would be hard pressed to find someone to do better work in such a timely manor.

We had a challenging project — a city hiilside lot with different grades around the entire perimeter, odd retaining walls, existing landscaping, and difficult access for materials and debris through our home. Patrick handled it perfectly. He showed up on day one with all the materials and help he needed, breezed through the project without a hitch, cleaned up thoroughly, and finished a day and a half ahead of schedule.
Patrick clearly communicated the design and construction options, both in the planning stage and as he was about to build them, and was courteous and helpful throughout. Our fence turned out exactly as we wanted.
I’ve had a lot of experience working with contractors — a multi-​stage remodel of one house and a multi-​stage total rebuild of another — and I’ve never seen one as organized and efficient as Patrick.

Along with my neighbor, we hired Patrick Langan to remove the 32 foot long retaining wall and fence between our properties and construct a new retaining wall and fence. Patrick provided a thorough and timely estimate and we selected him over another contractor. His cost estimate was more than reasonable. Working with Patrick, the removal, construction and coordinating the tree trimming at the same time was all worked out very easily. Patrick worked quickly and was very careful with the gardens while removing and building the new retaining wall /​fence. The fence and retaining wall were completed within three days as promised and the result was terrific. It looks great, met all our requirements and he cleaned up and moved all the debris before leaving. Patrick was a pleasure to deal with and I would not hesitate to recommend him.

I have to say that I agree with previous comments about poor communication skills ruining probably what is otherwise a very good fencing company. I live out of town and was coordinating for estimates on behalf of my 78 year old mother who lives in SF. I decided to give his company a look based upon some of the glowing reviews. His email response to my questions re: his estimate was shockingly rude — my jaw about dropped when I read his reponse to my questions. He clearly does not need or want my businesss.

I lived in the Richmond District, and I need to have my backyard fence replaced. I had estimates from several contractors, so I had a pretty good idea what the fence job costs. I read reviews about Patrick Langan Construction Company on Unilocal. I called Patrick Langan Construction Company, and Patrick Langan came over the house the next day at 6:45AM. He gave me an estimate, and I agreed to give him the job. The next day, Patrick came over the house with contract, description and specification for the fence job. The written contract was exactly what we agreed.
The fence job was completed within two days. The fence job looks gorgeous! The quality and workmanship on the fence are OUTSTANDING.
Patrick is a professional fence and deck contractor. He is courtesy and a trustworthy person.
This is best fence job I have seen for a very longtime.

Patrick is from County Mayo, Ireland. Old-​world work ethic and quality. A huge eucalyptus tree took out our fence in our Richmond District back yard. Patrick came in and completed the fence quickly and professionally. He always responded quickly to my phone calls, I found him to be always in good humor, he worked fast and his work is top quality. I would highly recommend him for any fence and deck work.

My gate broke off my fence on Monday night. And by Wednesday it was back up and as good as new.
I spent Tuesday morning calling handymen because I thought the job would be too small for a fence contractor. But none of them called me back, except for one to tell me he was unavailable for two months. So I went ahead and called a couple of fence contractors. Patrick returned my call in the afternoon, quoted me a reasonable price, and came the next day to do the job. He was thoughtful and easy to work with. I would definitely call him again and recommend him to my friends.

Perhaps this is a classic case of great surgeon with poor bedside manners — but what’s different here is that Langan Construction is not performing world class surgery where they have some amazing skills that no one has — and therefore, treating potential customer poorly is simply not acceptable.
Bottomline: they may do amazing construction but how we were treated as a potential customer meant that we would never consider them and would advice all our friends and families to stay away from this company.
Full story: My parents were considering fixing their deck and so we scheduled an appointment with the firm to come do an estimate at 6:45AM — before they begin their work for the day. My parents decided not to do the project after some considerations and so at 6pm the day before, we sent the company an email with a phone call.
Next day — we got a call at 6:45AM — we thought they didn’t get the message and was about to apologize. But the gist of the conversation was basically
(1) He DID get the message (so why bother calling at 6:45AM?)
(2) He said ‘who do you think you are to cancel last minute — should have cancelled 24 hours prior’ (again, we would if we could)
(3) He asked the question ‘who still works at 6pm?’ (most people who live in the Bay Area)
(4) He hangs up (how rude is that???)
I can only imagine what it would be like to work with this guy — I am sure when things are good, they are great (because he may have some amazing skills) — but this kind of behavior is just not acceptable.
There are plenty of excellent construction companies around the Bay Area — they do not deserve our business and we definitely do not recommend them.
