Description

Specialties

In this era of information overload, visual stimulation has reached an all-time pinnacle. But imagine, just for an hour or two that you cannot see, that you are abandoning vision in exchange for a new, more stimulating dining experience — this is «Dining in the Dark».

«This is not just a simple game that plays on the sensual nature of food, but a trip into inky darkness.» — Cindy Dorn, L.A. Times

«I’ve certainly never had an evening like it before.» — Richard Foss, L.A. City Beat

Imagine that you are recognizing friends by their voice, sounds tell a story, aromas come alive and elegance is felt. Welcome to dining in the dark.

Upon arriving at the Dining in the Dark venue, guests are welcomed in a lighted lounge area where they can order their drinks and from the special prepared menu. Once they have ordered, guests are guided into the darkened dining room for an experience of taste, smell, touch and sound they will never forget.

History

Established in 2008.

Originating in Germany, the concept of dining in the dark came to Los Angeles as the only place in the US to offer this kind of experience. We have attracted celebrities to enjoy a night out without anyone staring at them as well as the adventurous that want to try something new. Opaque is offering dining in the dark event planning service for any place or city conceivable.

Opaque is an intense environment and sensual environment that is simple in its concept, but much different when you experience our pitch black dining room. It has been quite a journey working with our visually impaired wait staff and the assistance and knowledge they provide really is unforgettable.
