The bartenders are hilarious

Really good, the Irish coffee was to die for. They had excellent crab cakes, 2 for 1 drinks and the brie burger was scrumpcious!
The place was clean the manager was awesome and Mr. oneill was very gracious.
I will definately come back!

all i am going to say is ONE TOILET???
i am surprised a restaurant can even get permitting when they have one toilet for all of the men and women who dine and work here to use.
beer makes you piss, fried food makes you poop… do the math.

I went to the 80 beers of America event on Saturday the 5^th and I was horribly disappointed with the flagrant false advertising of this event.
First off … I’m a bit of a beer aficionado, so this event appealed to me, because there are so many beers in the US that are near impossible to get. So a rundown of the deception:
1) We have 34 beers (why name it 80 then … the lack of a list beforehand should have been a sign)
2) We only have 28 of the 34 … oh and only a few bottles of 6 of those.
3) Bend, Oregan is as far as the beer came from … AMERICAN BEERS, mostly easy to get ones?
Overall, a trip to BevMo and drinking alone in a dark apartment would have been a better experience.

The girl was so nice and the service was good and quick.
That was about all that was standout of the place.
Everything else, standard pub, from the drinks to the décor to the food.

I went to a wine tasting here and the drunk manager ate off my plate when he thought I wasn’t looking! I confronted him about it and he told me asking for another meal on the house would be «pushing my luck.» He then proceeded to throw a platter of fries on my table and say «there, now you have all the food you can eat.» I could not believe this happened. Never have I had a waiter/​manager eat off of my plate. I am so disappointed b/​c I had a great time at the beer tasting. One star b/​c Unilocal made me.

This is the last thing my girlfriend yelled into the crowd before we left this dump last Saturday. It isn’t every day the owner of wine tasting venue eats off the plate of two paying customers and insults them to their faces. I can’t possibly discourage people enough from giving this place business.
Wait… let me start from the beginning.
My girlfriend and I came here last month for a beer tasting event. Given the price of the SF Beer Festival tickets, $ 30 for 2 hours with 80 beers and appetizers didn’t seems like a bad deal. We had a pretty good time; as Annie F. mentioned, «there isn’t a ton of ambiance or feel to the place, but it does overlook the water.» We chatted with the owner, complimented him on putting together a decent collection of beers and looked forward to the next tasting. Seemed like a decent guy… goddamn what a mistake.
This weekend we showed up for a wine tasting. The wine selection seemed lacking and the appetizers late in arriving, but we paid $ 30 for it and we kept at it. About 1.5 hours in, my girlfriend decided to personally order an appetizer. I understand that to a bunch of hungry wino’s, a plate of fried food being carried by the waitress through the crowd may look like more hors d’oeuvres. That might explain why people started grabbing at it on the way. It does not, however, explain the woman who watched us fend off the crowd to get to our table, waited until we got up, grabbed untold number of shrimp from our plate, made eye contact with us, then scuttled off to the other side of the bar with her ill gotten loot.
If the absurdity had stopped here, it still would have been pretty damn weird.
We go back to our table to stare at the now totally unappetizing plate of food and this old crone walks up, ASKS for a bite of our shrimp saying, «my husband and I want to try it before we buy any.» Stunned and figuring its already been plundered once, we nod and watch more of our shitty food go to someone else.
At this point, its too stupid to believe. So I get up, find the owner, and graciously explain that the other patrons ate our food and ask if it would be too much trouble to have another order.
The owner feigns concern, examines our food, then says something to the waitress and disappears. After a while, a surly waitress comes up drops another plate of food on the table and leaves without a word. Seriously bad form. So we eat most of the food, and go back for some more vino. After we fill our glasses, we turn around to see the same manager standing over our table, grab a handful of fries from our plate, dip it them in the sauce on our plate, cram them in his mouth, and walk in the other direction. I shit you not. Rigoddamndiculous.
Astounded and pissed off, we stop the owner when he walks towards us and tell him we saw him eating our shit. Totally sloppy drunk, he says, «I thought you were done.» After my girlfriend points out that all of our stuff was still at the table, he goes, «Well I could get you some more, but that would be pushing it.» When we declare that we don’t want his shit, he walks off, grabs a platter of fries from a waitress, drops it on our table like a smart ass and yells, «There! Now you have a whole plate!», and stumbles off.
People are watching the whole scene at this point — there were easily 50 people in the place — and someone goes, «oh shit somethings going down over there!»
A glass is smashed, fries and tartar sauce are smeared, and we split. But not before my girlfriend declares to the bar that «the manager will eat off your plate» and probably took a dump in it in the kitchen.
I’m really glad so few people have reviewed this joint so my negative review will really impact the average score. If you see the owner, a dark complexion middle aged guy wearing a suit and a shit-​eating grin, kick him in the balls for me. there is an O’Neill’s down by the ballpark somewhere too… He also owns that one.

If I could remember much of what happened there, I could probably review it higher.
I blame the 2 for 1 drink specials. Seriously… fantastic deal, really bad idea by the 3^rd or 4^th trip to the bar.
The fries were good, the potato cakes just meh. They were out of a bunch of finger foods, and some of the entrees, which isn’t good on a night where they would possibly have had a big crowd (Giants’ Orange Friday). There isn’t a ton of ambiance or feel to the place, but it does overlook the water. And again, 2 for 1 drinks. Ouch.

One of the only thursday night trivia games in the city. They are still trying to build up the quiz crowd since it is relatively new. But all that means is less competition for drinks.
There beer selections were OK. I had a fransiskaner, which I like.
The trivia guy is really nice and sometimes hard to understand over the PA. There are 7 rounds and some of them are really hard. But overall it is fun. If they can get about 30 – 40 more people at least it could be a great trivia spot.
NOTE: the bar is fronting beach st; it is not actually in the square. Walk down to the street.

Schmee… is for so so…
I’ve had a couple enjoyable evenings here only because a pack of a million of my friends showed up. Other than that I have found it to be pretty lame. The nice aspects are the new décor and cleanliness are, but it wont be new nor stay clean for long.
The food is your typical bar food and the beer is close to overpriced. They rarely have specials, it may be due to the touristy area and the recent opening.
I hope this place brings a little more spunk and flavor because it has great potential and selfishly it is close to my home…
