Nit Control Lice Removal

I texted Brittany in the evening, and she was able to come to our home the next day. She was quick to reply and communicate via text (which was super helpful). She was kind, easy-​going, honest, and knowledgeable. It’s not easy to publically announce that we had a lice issue, but I hope that this will bring peace of mind to other families. Brittany helped make a stressful and embarrassing event, not so stressful and embarrassing. Fingers crossed we never have this happen again, but if we do, I’d call her instantly. Totally worth the money.

Brittany was great she came to our house had all of us checked and my daughter and myself treated. She was calm and very poised as I was bombarding her with questions and my father in law was cracking Swiss old man silly jokes. If I was her I would have gone crazy! Instead she went on carrying her job and getting us all lice free. Thank you!

I never thought that my family would be «that» family. After being notified by my daughter’s BFF’s mom that her daughter had lice, I flipped out and started consulting with «Dr. Google.» What? Gluten-​free and natural lice control products? There are so many crazy options out there. Luckily, my daughter’s BFF’s mom told me, «We called Nit Control.» Once I found something that appeared to be «lice activity» on my daughter’s head, reading that texting is ok after-​hours, I texted Nit Control that I needed to make an appointment ASAP. Shawn texted back at midnight. He came over the next day, checked and treated our family. He was very calm, professional, explained everything, answered all of my questions, and most importantly, he was very reassuring. If there is any entity that makes «head lice» ok, it’s Nit Control. Even more important than being able to tell you right after my appointments: «They’re gone!», I am able to tell you 3 weeks later: «They’re STILL gone!» Sure, we’re all still scratching the phantom itches of PTSD caused by the two weeks we wasted trying to eradicate lice on our own with generic Rite Aid lice kits, Nix, tea tree oil, aerosol pesticides and thousands of loads of laundry. But Adam says this is actually quite common.
Brittany made the original visit to our home, and despite the fact that she was honest enough to let me know I had done a pretty good job (all she removed were a few nits from each of us) and probably didn’t need the follow up appointment, I scheduled one anyway. As I have a disability, all that cleaning was so hard on me that I wanted to be sure. When Adam came about 5 days later, we were clear. I just did a nit check today and we still are.
They were both very friendly, professional, comforting, sanitary and EFFECTIVE. Can’t ask for more than that. Oh, and IF you do the follow up you get a two week guarantee. I called about 7 Unilocal listings and they don’t all guarantee results. Thanks so much Nit Control! I won’t hesitate to call again.

These guys are just plain wonderful. Responsive, Patient, Funny, Kind, and great with (nervous) kids and (stressed out) adults alike. Their prices are extremely reasonable for the service they are offering. This was our first time with live and I would never go through it without their support.

Lice? Seriously one of the grossest things a parent has to contend with. And frustrating. And time consuming. My 7-​year old son got a case of hair hitchhikers at basketball camp while huddling up. Apparently they like clean hair — easier to latch onto the squeaky clean single strands. Who knew that bathing my son frequently could be so disastrous?
By the time we figured it out (contrary to what I imagined, we didn’t see a single creepy crawler, only nits that we thought were a little dandruff), he had a full blown case. My husband and I thought, we are diligent and determined people, we can handle this. Um, not so much. After using the OTC treatment several times and combing our son’s hair for 30 – 60 minutes each night (who has that kind of time or patience?) for nearly 4 weeks without getting rid of them entirely — it nearly put us over the edge. It was time to call in the professionals.
Our friends recommended Nit Control and we’re so glad they did. Sean returned our call and was so professional. He listened to my story and how long we’d been working on the case and we came up with a game plan based on our last OTC treatment and combing. He showed up at our house several days later — right on time, wearing scrubs. He was just about the nicest person you could imagine. My son and I felt comfortable right away. He spent an hour diligently combing all the live lice and nits from my son’s hair using all natural ingredients. He answered every one of my questions with the utmost of patience and not an ounce of judgment. Along the way, he explained what he was doing and why.
Then at the end, he told me the next steps to take to avoid him having come back in a week for a follow-​up. He could have so easily said I needed to schedule one, but instead he told me what I could do on my own to avoid having to pay more. Amazing. The whole thing cost me $ 110 (I got a quote in the $ 400 range from a salon). My only regret was not calling them sooner.

Lice happens… and when it does, Adam and Shawn offer a calming and knowledgeable presence in what can be an overwhelming time. Our first lice encounter was over a year ago and Adam came to our rescue. He came the very next day in the morning after I left a panicked VM late on a Sunday. With a school aged daughter who loves her past shoulder length hair, we were bound to need their services again. Shawn came over and helped us out. Luckily, it was a very mild case… and we caught it before the buggers had a chance to settle in. I wasn’t keen on making the walk of shame after getting my hair combed out in a salon, so calling them was a definite no-​brainer.

Thank you Shawn for being so professional and friendly with my stepdaughter and her thick curly hair. We had tried several times to get rid of the lice ourselves but weren’t successful. Shawn was very methodical and thorough, had good advice, and generous with games on his phone. We still need a follow-​up, but we’re gonna beat the bugs this time, I can tell.

Called in Adam and he was great. Came in and solved our issue quickly and professionally. Kids loved him and the experience was 5 stars from beginning to end.

I have a 5^th grader and this year he came home with lice. I did what any good mother does when something like this happens: i cried, screamed, blamed myself! I couldn’t believe it. LICE! GROSS. I hadn’t even thought about lice since I was in 2^nd grade and one of my classmates got it. Anyways, apparently the whole class had it because I started getting emails from all the parents about it. It was pretty epic– 30 kids all infested.
The first thing I did was go to Walgreens and get the «lice removal kit» they sell there. The kit included a lice comb and a special lice shampoo. I followed the instructions and tried doing this myself on all my family members but it was a nightmare. The comb pulled, the kids cried. The bugs were disgusting. My hair is so long I could not do it myself properly. It was a terrible night that will terrorize my family for years to come. After all that, my son still had lice, and by this point I was pretty sure I had it too.
I honestly wanted to die. I called the doctor and he suggested I leave on the shampoo for at least «4 hours.». That did not seem right. The instructions to the shampoo say «DO NOT USE FOR LONGER THAN 30 min.» Leaving that stuff on my kids’ heads for 4 hours did not seem like a good idea. I was also pregnant at the time, about one week away from my due date, and I certainly did not want to put some chemical in my hair for that long. I felt like we were stuck in a nightmare. I thought we would never get rid of it.
I finally turned to the internet and found a «lice salon» here in the city. That was completely out of the question. How disgusting is that? Who wants to be seen going in there? Coming out? Who wants to hang out in a salon where everyone is getting lice taken out of their hair? The thought of it makes me want to throw up in my mouth a little bit.
Then I found Nit Control. They come to your house. I was desperate at this point. My whole family was suffering. I was pretty sure everyone if not most of us had it. So I called Nit Control and they came the very next day. A man who was dressed like a nurse showed up. He was very courteous and made us all feel at ease about having lice and the treatment. He explained the life cycle of lice, he told us how to treat our home to get rid of all lice, he told us exactly what he was going to do to our hair, and the products he was going to use. He patently answered my kids’ questions (and there were A LOT of them.). He told us he used only all natural products. He explained that having lice was normal and very common when you have school aged kids. He made us feel ok about the situation. I finally breathed a sigh of relief!
We took turns while he put some special conditioner in our hair and then meticulously combed through it taking out all the nits and live bugs (I can barely type it without feeling queazy). He was gentle and everything he used was clean and sterile. It was really so professional that I was very impressed. Even my 3 year old was happy and comfortable as he combed through her hair.
He came back 7 days later for a follow up appointment and then we were all lice free. It has wonderful. Like a miracle! I really regret having wasted my money at Walgreens and having put my family through me trying to comb their hair out.
I cannot strongly recommend this service enough. They come to your home so you feel comfortable. They are clean which is a MUST if you are dealing with lice. They take everything with them. They are professional, courteous, friendly, and made us all laugh about the situation.
Kudos to them. If you have the unfortunate misfortune of getting lice, don’t waste your money on pharmacy products that don’t work, or in an expensive salon. Call Nit Control and thank me later.

I had no idea this industry existed until my 6 year old came home with lice, and share with me. As a single parent, there’s no one to ask to check your head! I didn’t know what to do for myself, after I went through the whole process with my daughter. Adam literally saved the day – the in-​home service and his help before and after were stellar. I can’t say enough about how positive the experience was. It’s a great service, but I hope I won’t see them again soon.

Excellent, quick, courteous, reasonable. Adam was great with my kids and I felt his advice was given honestly. I was not ‘forced’ to take return visits and was given good tips for the future. A big plus was that they made no big deal about driving to the Coastside. Brilliant to not leave your house for this procedure. Hopefully I won’t need their services again but, if I do, I’ll be more than happy knowing they’re such a handy resource. I’ll be telling everyone who to go to for nit/​lice problems!!!

Excellent service from Adam at Nit control. After a lice scare at the house, Adam brought a calm demeanor to help fix the situation. Professional, clean and full of knowledge about lice made for a much more enjoyable experience than lice should be. I would recommend the service and will use them again if the need arises.

I cannot praise Adam of Nit Control enough-​he saved my sanity! After treating my daughter with nix, I got a call to get her from school for lice. I called a salon nearby and they were booked-​and rude. I called Adam who came to Marin 3 hours later. He was professional, thorough and kind, making an awkward situation pleasant !
