To those who posted reviews about this business regarding flyers in plastic bags with rocks littering your area, please double check phone numbers and address before you post your ratings. This business is not who you mentioned about littering your neighborhood or does a poor job. There are more than 5 businesses with this same name!

Stop trashing my neighborhood! I am collecting all your crappy plastic bag advertisements and recycling them. You will never get any business on my street.

It a terrible landscaping business which throws thousand of little plastic bags with their flyer onto our neighborhood public streets, waterways, sidewalks, and private yards every few months. Please stop the littering.

What does it say about a landscaper that he is willing to litter the streets for the chance of improving someone’s landscape? I picked up about 20 of his little bags of trash in the course of a short morning’s walk.

Well it’s late spring again and the rubbish distributer known as Tom Nguyen has blanketed my neighborhood with his offensive garbage-​bag adverts. Hey Tom you are failing miserably. Stop leaving garbage all around San Francisco.

What a horrible waste of time and money! They did such a poor job it’s astounding… truly. I trusted them to complete the job to spec and they failed miserably. There was nothing complex about the work either… basic landscaping, repairs. I should not have paid them but I felt sorry for the old guy. As I checked the work in more detail, I felt sorry for me.

I came home to not one, not two, but EIGHT little baggies with this guy’s advertising scattered all over my lawn. I see ‘professional’ written on this folded pink piece of paper in a bag with some rocks, but if ‘Mr. Tom Nguyen’ is a professional, then this littering on my property should be an embarrassment to him.

I will never hire any gardener/​landscaper who litters on my property with plastic baggies filled with rocks and a flyer on a regular basis — and neither should you.

I wanted Mr. Nguyen to come back last summer for routine clean up and maintenance of my yard. I called 4 times over the course of a month, asking for a call-​back to set a time for them to come out, and never heard back. Based on the Unilocal reviews, he’s still in business, but he’s lost my business for good.

They did a 2 part job for me — weed and put in flowers and a lawn and a bit later install a pebble patio area (3 tons of pebbles moved in 3 hours — insanity). They showed up on time, were polite, cleaned up after themselves, were kind to my kids (who were fascinated and would not leave them alone). I only give 4 stars because they left me hanging for a while after the second phase was done. I think they are so busy that they can’t keep up — but its a small family run business so this type of thing happens. I have recommended them to my friends who need yard work done.

You get what you pay for.
Nguyen quoted me for cleaning up and removing weeds after a very rainy Spring. I was very specific about the need to pull the weeds out by hand to remove the roots, but it seemed that Nguyen was more interested in using his weedwacker to take everything out and do the job quick. Before you know it, our irrigation lines were hit and now we need that fixed. Nguyen would not repair even though the broke it.
Price was reasonable, but next time I’ll pay more for someone who will take the extra care.

I read the reviews and was skeptical but I really really have to hand it to Mr. Nguyen for cleaning up my completely overgrown yard. It was a disaster before he got here. The weeds were about 4 feet tall!
He did a fantastic job at a good cost.
Keep your fingers crossed that I’ll be able to maintain it!

Was in search for a gardener that was reliable and reasonable. The 1^st people I called wanted $ 1800 for clearing out the backyard, which I admit was beginning to resemble something along the lines of Golden Gate Park (and not in a good way). Given that we live in the city the size of the yard hardly qualified as a full size back yard-​not to mention that there isn’t any grass.
When I found Nguyen Gardening Service, I was apprehensive that I wouldn’t even get a call back. I was pleasantly surprised when I received a call back that same day and was able to schedule an appointment for an estimate two days later-​I couldn’t have been happier.
After meeting with him and getting an estimate, I was quick to book them for cleaning up the backyard (no gardening). They did a great and fast job (but be prepared-​he comes a half and hour early).
Overall, I was pleased with their work until I found out that they had punctured a whole in the sprinkler system. This is when the real aggravation began. I called and left messages for them over a two month period of time to attempt to get the issued resolved but no one ever returned my calls. Finally, as I was about to submit a complaint to the Better Business Bureau I called and just left a non-​descriptive message just to see if they would call me back. When I received a call back from them later that evening, it was obvious that they had forgotten who I was when she asked if I wanted an estimate.
After telling her the situation, my many attempts to contact them and my decision to file a complaint with the BBB she seemed more concerned to resolve the issue, but claimed that I had never called. The next day he came out and did a real repair job (no duct tape) and my sprinklers aren’t shooting water into the neighbors yard.
It’s hard to say if I would use them again. Although they were very nice and good to work with, they didn’t seem to be as professional as I would have hoped. If anything else, at least call me back.

Not happy at all.
We had flowers put in &, some stone gardens laid, everything is starting to come apart, just called last week, would not return my calls.
I cannot stand when people do not return your call.

I have since had Nguyen Gardening Service come back to clean up my backyard in time for Spring. As always, spot-​on work, excellent job.
I then hired them do an excavation/​prep for rubber mulch installation and woodwork installation for a raised potting border area. This wasn’t an easy task, and Du Van did an AWESOME job. He picked up all the materials, arrived on-​time (albeit a little TOO early :-D) and finished the job in a couple of days.
My son now has an awesome play yard, and I have my garden back! Thanks a ton to Nguyen Gardening.

Did a great job re-​sodding my front and back yard. Only gardener to even call me back. Reasonable estimate. On time. Nice people. Yard looks amazing.

Mr. Nguyen just finished our yard and I was so compelled by our experience, that I signed up for Unilocal for the sole purpose of writing a review on their service.
First the good: Nguyen Gardening is one of the few gardeners that I contacted who actually called back. A lovely lady promptly returned my voice mail and we scheduled Mr. Nguyen to come by that very day to make an estimate. Mr. Nguyen arrived right on time, did a very quick estimate and we schedule him to do the work the next day at 9am. On the day of the job, he and his other worker were right on time. They worked quickly and cleaned up after themselves.
Now the bad: The main tool for pruning and trimming that they used was a gas hedge trimmer. That method looks horrible on a lot of plants, but it looked especially bad on the plants he hacked out front. The front looks worse now that it did before he came. So if you’re looking for gentle, skillful landscaping, this is not the place.
Next the price… Nguyen quoted us a price of $ 380 for everything. We had a quote from another gardener for $ 400 ($ 80 to haul and then 8 — 10 hours of work (2 men) according to the first gardener). Because Mr. Nguyen could do the work sooner, we went with him. They hacked through the 8 — 10 hour job in 3 hours (so even deducting the hauling charge, that’s $ 100 an hour for 2 guys!). The icing on the cake was when we came out and said the front looked horrible and that we wanted him to take the plants down more, he said he’d only do it if we paid him $ 30 more! Unbelievable.
In short, reliable, fast, but sloppy, not at all worth the money and clearly more concerned about making quick cash than establishing long lasting relationships with satisfied customers and careful landscaping! I should have known when they were SO available and every other gardener I tried to contact was so busy. Live and learn…

They did a very professional job with all of my gardening needs. Call them first for an estimate and you won’t be disappointed.
