Fantastic shop if you are looking for well priced Chinese teas! Other shops wouldn’t let me purchase smaller amounts Tieguanyin, Da Hong Pao and Qimen but when I asked for just $ 5 bags of each they accommodated me without fuss and were very pleasant. The quality of each tea was terrific! I’ve lived in the Bay Area for nearly 35 years and it was my first visit to this particular shop and I can’t wait to go back! If you are interested in learning about a wide variety of chinese tea without having to shell too much money to experience each, then look no further than Nan Hai. Cheers!

I had a lovely time shopping for herbal tea. The sales associate was very helpful and friendly. The store is clean and well-lighted. Will definitely go back again! :)

I don’t know about their dried herbs and medicinal things… I always come for the dried preserved goodies. Always the seedless olives and some other plums. And as Tracy S said, the smells in this store happily remind me of my childhood.

I’m fortunate enough to be able to travel for a living, so I am very grateful for that. Whenever I’m in San Francisco, I usually go to China town to buy some ancient Chinese secrets. Okay they are not really secrets, but they could be! I get some of my herbal and tea remedy at Nam Hai. They have jars of teas that can be bought from ounces to pounds. On my last visit, I bought Siberian Rose Detox tea for beautiful skin, Lavender Tea to promote restful sleep, Bitter Tea for detoxing the blood and liver and a beautiful blooming flower tea for positive energy. Pretty much everything we consume in the western world has oil, fat and grease. This is the reason why the western world is full of ailments such as diabetes, and high cholesterol. Knowledge is the key to preventing them, so I try not to consume anything that will give me cellulite. If I do, I drink tons of hot tea to help with the digestion and detoxification. Nan Hai is a great place to buy them.

yowzers! came strolling in with my parents after dim sum on a Sunday. funny how I didn’t even know this place existed, yet I’m sure I passed by it so many times walking along grant in Chinatown. the store is super spacious and really well lit. as soon as you step foot into this place, your nose gets a bit confused. the aroma of traditional Chinese medicine arouses your sense of smell in so many strange ways. let me tell you, things are not cheap here. most herbal medication, they sell by pound. you just have to tell the people behind the counter what you want and how much of it. the service here isn’t too bad for a Chinese establishment. the workers will even recommend things if you’re unsure of what you’re looking for. from medicines that lower your cholesterol to medicines that’ll help you lose weight, they have it. they even have shark fins and seahorses for sale. shark fin… it’s BANK. seahorses? I mean, I’m Chinese but I’ve never seen anything like it. a bit freaky if you ask me. in the middle of the store, they even have snacks and other yummy munchies. all in all, I’d come back if I were to ever been in need of some Chinese medication.

These folks don’t play around when it comes to high quality Chinese herbs. This place along with the Great Chinese Herb Co. are my go to place for Chinese herbs. Go to this place, you won’t regret it.

So I needed some tea before I could possibly begin work today, so I ducked out for a few minutes to find a market in Chinatown. I was certain that I would find decent tea fairly quickly. And I did. I was a little put off by the jars of unknowns easily seen from the street, but the place smelled so good! I ran in really fast and went directly to the wall of tea. As soon as I had picked up some green genmai cha tea, an Asian woman approached me and kept saying hello over and over again. I instantly felt uncomfortable and instead of perusing more tea, I just took what I had already in my hand to the front register. The woman left to resume her post just outside the front door of this shop. I felt so confused. Did she really think I was going to steal something? Anyways. The tea was nice and cheap. $ 2.99 for 20 satchels. Would have preferred some loose leaf, but this stuff is pretty decent. Next time I’ll bring an Asian friend so as not to upset the locals.

I wish I could read Cantonese because almost everything is in Chinese. It’s all spices but surprisingly no condiments. Luckily the helpful staff was able to find the all my items. Glad I found this place because like a donkey I was paying quadruple the price at Whole Foods

This place had a huge selection of teas, herbs, spices, and the walls were lined with jars of mysterious things. We wandered in because I wanted to buy some blossoming tea to bring home as a little gift for some friends, and the woman at the tea counter was great about telling us about the different teas and their benefits, as well as letting us smell them. We walked out with a lot of tea and smiles on our faces. I would look for this place if you want to pick up some tea to bring home or if you live locally and need to stock up – it seemed like they had teas to cure all ills!

Whenever I’m in Chinatown I like to come to one of these places to stock up on my dried herbs and medicinal items. They have tons of ginseng and various dried seafood items, teas, dried plums and much much more. I picked up some sour plums for snacking on, many pre-assembled packets of herbs to make soup with, and teas. Ironically, the staff in here speak Mandarin which is really rare in the middle of SF Chinatown. They are chatty and like to probe and ask personal questions(haha very Asian of them) but are helpful when you ask them various questions regarding the stuff they have there. I can’t read Chinese fluently so needed their help in deciphering some of the wordings on the packets of soup concoctions I was looking at. I loved this store! They had a really good extensive selection of stuff so it’s like a one stop shop instead of going to different places to buy all your items.

Ever since I started working downtown, I’ve always walked up to Chinatown during my lunch break. I used to buy my BREATHNATURAL for allergies on Clement St. But then I discovered this place in Chinatown, the NANHAICORPORATION. Wow! This place is out of a movie set! It’s just so much fun to look around! This is where you can buy your dried roots, shark fins and hard to find herbs. Be careful though, if you get carried away, some of stuff cost like $ 200! Besides herbal medicine, they have an extensive collection of tea from China. I bought this Chinese Premium TIKUANYINTEA, which I have yet to try out!!! Anyways, check it out! There’s jars and jars of rare exotic dried stuff here, if you know what to do with them. :)

I have NOIDEA what most of the stuff in this shop is, but I love the scent of it. It totally reminds me of my childhood! What I do buy when I’m here are the dried, preserved and salted lemon peel bags. They’re the best lemon peel, salty and sweet, and just moist enough to be soft. I’m also a big fan of their salted ginger. Mmmm! Best thing ever for a sad tummy!
