Melanie was hands-​down the best part of our wedding planning experience. With our hectic jobs, we knew we needed a wedding planner to implement all of the fine details and track the big picture. We are also not a frou-​frou couple, and wanted someone that could implement our vision for a practical yet joyous event. Melanie was that person! Melanie really took care of everything so that we didn’t need to lift a finger (except for putting the rings on!) during our wedding day. Throughout the entire process, Melanie had a calm and professional demeanor and kept everything up to date in a Google Drive folder so we could share details in real time. Melanie was able to come up with practical and creative solutions to our wedding needs. For example, we did a brunch wedding and Melanie did a wonderful job executing those details. Melanie also went the extra mile, including stopping by our house the day before to pick up centerpieces. She is also very well connected in the SF Bay Area and recommended some amazing vendors which we used. Our guests loved the caterer she recommended (Miraglia Catering) and the flowers were beautiful (Sol Ambience). After the wedding, our guests continue to rave about how much they enjoyed the event, and we give Melanie all the credit! Highly recommended!

Melanie is awesome !! We hired her as our planner for our wedding in hotel Nikko in SF. Just like what other review mentioned, she is very professional, organized and calm. She gave us a lot of good ideas during our preparation, reminded us monthly on what needed to be done. Few weeks and days before the wedding, she communicated with us, our hotel coordinator, and vendors again and again to make sure everyone is on the same page. On the day of wedding, I can’t thank her enough for what she did ! She took care of everything including coordinating between our vendors, decorations, and making sure everything is in under control. All my guests, including my family who are usually very picky, said it was one of the best weddings they have ever been to. We highly recommend Melanie for anyone who would like to hire a wedding or event planner. We wish her the best in her future endeavor and we hope that we will have the opportunity to work with her again !

When I was starting to plan my wedding, several people told me that if they were to do it again, they would hire a wedding planner or day-​of coordinator, and now I see why. After working with Melanie and her assistant to coordinate our wedding at the Rosewood Sand Hill Hotel, I am so glad I had help! Leading up to the wedding, Melanie was really helpful about informing me about, and helping with things I hadn’t thought of yet. I especially appreciated her getting in touch and coordinating with all the various vendors – this was a big stress reliever! Melanie is also very organized about all of the documentation, lists, and materials involved in wedding planning. During the Rehearsal, Melanie helped all of our family know their parts and places for the ceremony, and consistently assured them to find her if they needed anything at all during the wedding. Everyone loved knowing that they had a helpful, friendly, and extremely capable point person to reach out to. We were very happy with how everything went on the day of our wedding – from setup (which started several hours before the ceremony) all the way through the reception. It was great to have MSH Events be keyed into everything planned for the day (from design to timeline), so that they could orchestrate and I wouldn’t have to worry or task guests with responsibilities. I had heard so often that «certain things will go wrong on the day of your wedding and you’ll just roll with it» but we really came away with the feeling that everything went right, and so much of that is thanks to Melanie and MSH!

My wife and I hired Melanie as our month-​of planner, event coordinator, and to help us with venue selection, for our January 2015 wedding.
We considered a few wedding planners before choosing Melanie. We found that some of the wedding planners we interviewed tended to leave us a bit stressed and focused on all the details. By contrast, Melanie always made us feel calm, and that everything was under control. This was one of the best decisions we made in our wedding planning process.
Melanie is professional, very organized, and has a calm presence, especially as issues arise and need to be sorted out as the event approaches. She was good at handling the mental-​health aspects of wedding planning, in addition to event logistics themselves. When it became clear a few days in advance that neither or caterer nor desert caterer could provide coffee, Melanie asked for a reasonable budget cap, and sorted it out on her own. She was even able to find the snobby coffee beans we prefer. :)
I would work with Melanie again in a heartbeat.

Melanie was the Day of Coordinator for my wedding last summer. I’m an organized person, so it was key to me to find someone even more organized than myself. Melanie Hsia was that person, and I appreciated her professionalism especially since a lot of wedding vendors are creative types that aren’t as good with correspondence. I felt like I was in good hands.
The week before the wedding, Melanie and I were in more frequent contact and we used Dropbox to share documents (a plus for me!). When we met for a walk through of the venue, she had everything printed out and reviewed. It was a really smooth hand-​off and she made sure I was free to enjoy the big day without worrying.
Her prices seem below average, and I was very happy with the quality of service. I thought having a DOC in general was worth the money, since I didn’t have to worry about set-​up, clean-​up, or any issues that came up during the wedding, and my friends and family were also free to enjoy themselves. I was able to be very hands on and plan to my heart’s content until the last minute (the wedding rehearsal), and then I just let it go. And it all turned out perfectly!

Based on a strong recommendation from a friend, we decided to hire Melanie as our Day-​of Coordinator for our March 2014 Wedding in San Francisco. Honestly, we weren’t even sure that we needed a coordinator since our wedding was relatively small (75ppl) and we already had the day fully planned out. However, once the day came, we soon realized how amazingly helpful having Melanie around would be.
Apart from interacting with all our vendors, helping fine tune the schedule, and assisting with seating, Melanie also took care of the completely unexpected — collecting gift envelopes, end-​of-​night food distribution and even briefly watching our 12lb dog who became a bit unruly during one of the wedding speeches. In a nutshell, Melanie is awesome — she will think of every detail you haven’t thought of and and most importantly, will let you keep your focus on what is truly important — your spouse to be!

I am so happy that we decided to have Melanie help organize and oversee the day of events for our wedding! She was extremely organized and great to work with. Throughout our wedding planning, she had great contacts for different wedding vendors. A few weeks before our wedding, Melanie contacted all of our vendors to make sure everything was ready to go, as planned. On the day of our wedding, she oversaw and took care of everything, including tipping our vendors, and making sure everything was under control. I hired Melanie to be our Day of Coordinator for our wedding on October 5, 2013. Melanie was a true professional and handled EVERYTHING, so we could enjoy the best day of our lives!
We got married at Ralston White Retreat, and I was interested in hiring people who had organized an event there before, since it is a unique venue. I ran a search and Melanie’s name came up. After corresponding with her and interviewing a few others, she stood out as the most professional and cost effective. We first met in person over lunch and she answered all of my questions and started devising a agenda and plan of execution for the day of my wedding. From there we corresponded through email and met 2 weeks before the wedding, Melanie was extremely organized and had our wedding timeline down to the minute.
From what I know… our wedding day was PERFECT and went off without any issues. Little did I know there were some major issues with our linens, which I found out the day after our wedding. But this situation speaks to Melanie’s TRUE professionalism and empathy. My husband and I never knew, and she handled it with our caterer. That speaks volumes of her work ethic and character. Melanie knows it is the best day of your life and will make sure that she will do what it takes to make sure you feel that way as well. She goes above and beyond the call of duty and I would hire her again in a heartbeat! I’m sure there were other major issues, but I didn’t know about them and she handled it. Which is what every bride and groom wants on their big day!

We engaged Melanie to be our DOC in December 2012 for our summer 2013 wedding. Throughout the entire process we found her to be responsive, flexible and most of all, COMPETENT (honestly, what else does anyone want in a DOC?!).
She communicated with all of our other vendors – venue, caterer, photographer, DJ, florist. We had several rearrangements of our seating chart in the weeks leading up to the wedding, and coordinated with our (increasingly understandably exasperated) caterer. On our end, when things got crazy enough to make an in-​person meeting impossible, she was flexible enough to use Google Hangouts at my request to make sure that we stayed coordinated.
On site, she was instrumental in setting up our tables at our reception hall (lighting candles, arranging favors, etc), and picked up on all the minor details that I had ignored, such as alphabetizing the favors. She also facilitated the first look with my fiancé and photographers, so that everyone was in the right place at the right time.
The best thing I can say about Melanie is that thanks to her management of the day, my husband and I were oblivious to any issues that may have cropped up. Everything was taken care of quickly and professionally, so that we could really let ourselves enjoy the moment without worrying about the details.

My husband and I hired Melanie as our day of coordinator for our San Francisco Wedding this past November. Melanie was recommended by one of my best friends and so I was confident that the job would be done well. My husband handled most of the communication with Melanie and I was always included. After our first meeting with Melanie we were very impressed with her organization and attention to detail.
I thought I could do it all myself and my husband did not agree with me and after meeting Melanie I knew I needed her to be there. My husband was right!
Melanie met us for walk through meetings and emailed back and forth. She showed up to our rehearsal and was so helpful in taking care of what I could not take on. The day before the wedding Melanie and her assistant helped clear my parents home of all the wedding decorations and details so that I could focus on just preparing for the big day. The morning of the wedding I realized I forgot to give Melanie some extra things and called her in a bit of a panic. Melanie remained extremely calm and arrived promptly to pick up the stuff and also checked on how I was doing all the way up to my entrance into the church.
Just when I thought all was done I realized I did not have to worry once at the reception about details and our time line. Melanie had everything taken care of even before I could ask which is extremely impressive since usually I am a step ahead.
Our wedding day was amazing and thanks to Melanie’s efficiency and professionalism we were able to enjoy and soak in our day celebrating with family and friends at our favorite place in San Francisco… AT&T Park:)

I wanted to celebrate a special event with all my friends in the London Olympics. Melanie secured all the great event tickets, planned beautiful lunches and dinners, gave us great walking tours of the city, and was incredibly hospitable throughout.

We were delighted to have Melanie Hsia as our wedding coordinator for our September 2011 wedding in Burlingame, California. During the planning and research phase, she was invaluable in helping us to research potential vendors and in recommending vendors, where we were having trouble making a decision or in knowing what we actually needed. It was, after all, the first wedding for both of us. Once we had selected a vendor, Melanie was great in reviewing the minutia of contracts and letting us know what changes needed to be made to reflect our best interests, prior to engaging said vendor. On the day of the wedding, she handled last minute arrangements, put out fires, dealt with the facility and vendors, all while being available to us during our big day. All in all, the wedding went fairly smoothly and what little problems there were, as there are always problems on wedding day, were dealt with professionally and ‘behind the scenes’ so that our guests were not inconvenienced or even aware of by issues. Thank you so much, Melanie! We could not have done it without you and all your hard work.

Our wedding was 1 month away, and there came a point when I realized something very important. There was going to be A LOT happening the day of the event, and trying to do it all myself would involve coordinating too much, be stressful, take me out of the moment of my ceremony, and in general drive me crazy. So, we decided to hire a day of wedding planner, and there wasn’t even a second thought to whom we would call: the most responsible, detail oriented, not afraid to take charge (in a pleasant way) person, who knows how to organize an event. Melanie probably had a busy time preparing for our wedding and meeting us at the site, but she didn’t show anything but calm, niceness, and professionalism, which gave us confidence and was well worth the reasonable contract fee.
Melanie, my husband, and I did two walk throughs of the house prior to the wedding day. One with the location manager and caterer, and one with my family. She went the extra mile to ensure that her schedule and timeline were mapped out by the minute. Everything was noted in the «itinerary» for the day, and Melanie was in touch with us via Dropbox to make all appropriate edits to the document. Prep work, A+.
The day of was fantastic. My husband arrived and worked on getting everything set up and ready to go along with Melanie. Me being the bride, I got to arrive a wee bit later, but when I did everything was well on its way to being set up and Melanie was hard at work. To be honest, as most brides will tell you, the day was a blur. What I can tell you however is that from my end, I got ready with my girlfriends and everything else got set up. Melanie helped the flow of the wedding day happen beautifully and I know this because it all went great, yet until dinner I didn’t notice her. Which is a compliment to her work. Like most weddings I think, we were running «behind schedule» in a few place, but she hopped right in and moved things along.
I would absolutely recommend Melanie and the wonderful wedding company she is building. She is incredibly organized, thoughtful, caring, and did a fantastic job of making our wedding day a wonderful success!
