Was finding a Qipao for my mom and we passed by this place. The design of the dresses are old, and the customer service is very rude. There is nothing more I can say, I will not recommend this place.

I decide to write a part 2 review on my outcome here. By the way, this place is also known as Mei Mei Fashion.
Since I never received my dress on time, the lady tried to personally delivered the product to my mom’s house so she can get the remaining amount I owe her. I told her I don’t want the dress anymore. I told her that the product was not delivered and I can take her to small claims court for this but really do I have the time to do this since I have a wedding come up? As a result, she refused to give me my deposit back and I had store credit with her. I told my mom to use the store credit to get her self some nice blouses. My experience with this lady, she is very SNEAKY, DISHONEST and milk your money! Do not go here! Save your time and go somewhere else! I went to Ling’s in Oakland Chinatown and I paid a bit more for my dress but I got my dress stress free!
I would give this review negative stars if I can…

3 weeks ago I brought in my custom-​made qipao/​cheongsam that my mother-​in-​law got for me when she was in Hong Kong. It was about 2 inches too big all over. This place came recommended by a co-​worker who had her custom made here. Thinking someone with the skills to custom make a qipao would be able to do a good job with alterations, I thought I could trust Mei to correctly and professionally alter my dress.
At my first visit, she had me try on the dress and she said she knows what to do. She didn’t add any pins to where it needed to be taken in, which made me nervous. I should have followed my instincts and left, but no, i gave her the benefit of the doubt. I was told I can pick it up the following weekend. It was $ 68 for the alterations, a bit high but I trusted her. I paid up front, which I thought was odd, but again I gave her the benefit of the doubt.
The following weekend, I showed up to pick up my dress. She told me to come back in half an hour. I came back and she had me try it on. The waist fit, but the boning of the dress was off centered, which she said she will fix. But the skirt area still needed to be taken in. She then went on in Chinese about how much work that is, and how she charges $ 200 for a custom qipao so it’ll be $ 10 more, even though it won’t cover the cost of the labor, and I’ll have to pick it up the following week. I said that was fine and gave her an extra $ 10.
On my 3^rd visit, I tried the dress on again, and the hips needed to be let out a little. I noticed that she altered my dress so that I had to put the dress over my head instead of stepping into it. She changed the zipper so that I had to zip it all the way up on the side instead of the flap that goes over your shoulder, which then buttons. How am I supposed to put that dress over my head on the wedding day when my hair is all done!!!
At this point, I just wanted her to be done and get the hell out. She told me to come back in hour. I had lunch, came back in an hour, and it still wasn’t ready. In fact, I don’t think she did any work when I was at lunch. She saw me come in then went to work. My husband and I stood there for more than an hour, waiting, watching her gossip with other ladies, taking her sweet time.
In the end, my dress looked like crap. It still needed to be taken in on the left, she changed the zipper to a cheap one so that you can totally see it, she took the shortcut and made alterations over the lining instead of underneath, AND now I can’t even step into the dress to put it on like it was meant to originally. The handiwork was crap also; you could tell she rushed through it and all-​in-​all didn’t give a crap about my dress or the time I wasted.
I cried. My beautiful custom made dress was destroyed. Luckily, my mother-​in-​law took me to Oakland Chinatown and they fixed everything… FOR ONLY $ 13!!!

my mom bought a gorgeous qipao from this place for her bday last year, and i came here with my sister and mom yesterday to get a qipao and fell in love with a white one with silver thread and a lavender beaded phoenix. when i asked about the price, i thought it was out of my range, but decided to try it on anyway. they said their dresses run small, but got the largest one they had. still didn’t fit, but i was trying to figure out how maybe if they let it out a bit and between me losing weight and using a corset or something, i’d be able to fit it. wen i suggested that to the lady, she took one look at me and said that she’d make it fit. she’s a real sweet lady, with a little bite — she technically insulted me with a name, but she said it with such affection that it feels more like she’s been my aunt for the past twenty years or something that it just comes off as genuine and endearing.
she cut me a really good deal on the price and said to come back in an hr. maybe she originally priced the dress higher cuz she expects people to haggle, but i’m glad she gave me a deal, cuz now the dress is definitely affordable. we came back an hr later, and she had a few people checking on the work she was doing for my qipao. when she was ready, she told me «go strip», again with an affection type of thing going.
i put it on, and it was magic. she got it to fit completely — and she only eyeballed me in the dress for about 30 seconds. it was amazing. if anything sold me on her talents, that did it rite there. so i came home and was showing it off to one of my sisters, and we did notice that there was about an inch worth of seam that wasn’t sewn in properly, but i was able to call her just a few minutes ago, and she said to just bring it in and she’d take care of it for me, even if i need to come in a couple weeks from now because of my schedule.
because of her skill with the qipao, i’m gonna actually have her alter my american wedding dress, which has now gotten too loose because of my weight loss. i can’t wait to check in and update on this lady. she rocks! =)

Came here to order my custom made Chinese gown (cheong sam) for my wedding. I met Mei at the store and she helped me decide on the custom made Chinese gown. First impression was that she seem to know what she was doing.
When it came to the pick-​up day however, her poor management skills and lack of common sense really revealed the type of store this place is — unprofessional and anti-​bride friendly. Here’s the story of what happened:
She called my mom and told her the dress was ready and said I should come pick it up. I waited a week before heading to Chinatown due to my busy schedule. When I finally got there, she pointed me to the dressing room and said. «Here… Try on this dress on». I obliged and went inside the dressing room but only to find a different dress hanging in there. I told her that this isn’t my dress, but she insisted I try it on. so I did. Her reasoning was that I might possibly like this one instead. At this point I’m thinking, «why would I even consider another dress if I already picked one (custom made) already??? And why is she trying to push this dress onto me? What was the point of trying on this dress on if I already got another dress coming?». I actually voiced this out to her when she walked into the dressing room. She said that my dress was at the post office or somewhere where she hadn’t had time to go pick up, and that I need to come back in 2 days. So why did she tell us to come by if she hadn’t got the dress physically with her? I was pretty frustrated with her by this time. I told her that she basically wasted my time for coming all the way out to Chinatown.
She even had the nerve to say to my mom that «oh, these ABC American girls are so rigid… the other dress I showed her looks similar enough to the one I ordered». That just lacks all common sense in my mind. How can someone run a business like that?
I will see the dress I ordered next week, but I have a bad feeling about it. I will wait until then to finish this review, but I think from this story, you can decide for yourself if this store is what you want to deal with.
