Description

Specialties

At Mission Tango our tango classes are for all levels of dancers, from absolute beginner, to advanced. We focus on giving our students the skills they need to dance tango with grace and confidence with tango dancers all over the world.

All of our tango classes begin with a series of tango exercises, followed by the learning of classic tango patterns, along with the most common and useful tango steps that are danced in the milongas (tango dances) today. Through our 3 year tango program, students begin with the most basic tango steps, starting with the elegant tango walk, and continue on to learn the most modern and advanced tango vocabluary today.

History

Established in 2014.

Though Mission Tango has just been born in the Spring of 2014, it has come after years of collaboration at our sister school The 8th Style School of Tango in Seattle, Wa. Founded by Tango Maestro Jaimes Friedgen in 2006, The 8th Style school of Tango has been a melting pot of collaboration amongst some of the finest dancers and teachers in the country. With the relentless goal of creating the most effective and efficient way of teaching Tango, The 8th Style School of Tango has produced some of the finest dancers in the country, many of whom have become teachers themselves performing and teaching internationally. Now, after 8 years of testing and refining The 8th Style’s teaching system, it has finally come to the San Francisco Bay Area where we hope to share our teaching method and passion for the study of the dance with anyone willing to join us.

Meet the Business Owner

Christa R.

Business Owner

Christa began her study in tango in the fall of 2003 in Seattle, Wa with her instructor Jaimes Friedgen. Since, she has become one of the most influential dancers in the country and serves as the mane inspiration for a whole generation of female dancers (not to mention keeping the guys in line). She takes great pride in the progress of her students and continues to pursue her study of dance with the same voracious appetite as when she was that wobbly, wide-eyed teenager years ago. Those who know Christa well know her to be a master of creating beauty out of anything; be it sheet metal, a beat-up old guitar, oil on canvas, the intricate movements of Tango, or a friend with two left feet. Christa is one of the founders of The 8th Style School of The 8th Style School of Tango in Seattle, Wa which produces some of the finest dancers in the city. Now Christa has relocated back to the San Francisco Bay area where she is born, where she is starting up her new project, Mission Tango.
