Love this place! A tiny, unassuming corner store with a tiny, delicious deli inside. The owner is extremely professional and courtesy; all around a very nice guy. I’ve bought two sandwiches from him, and they were both absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced($ 7 for a big sandwich with the works, very fresh ingredients). Will be making this place a regular stop.

If you are in the area and need some picnic food, or ran out of some staple ingredients while making dinner, check this place out! It’s my favorite. They have a really nice variety of foods. They’ve saved me so many times when I’ve made dinner and ran out of sour cream or chips. Or other times, when we require beer or chocolate. The brands they carry are kinda fancy, like Clover milk and eggs, Tillamook cheese, and Einstök beer. The best part are the folks who work there. Nice and helpful. They brighten my day.

Mission Groceteria is packed full of goodies in a very small space: deli goodies, sammies(6), wines, microbrews, gourmet convenience foods. slightly pricey. 5 stars for upscale goods offered. brew: «samuel smith» organic cider. made from organic apples(4.99) –pretty tart to the point of sourness.(5% alc.) brits describe this as «medium dry» drips: –green zone packing in front. –store very compact, 2 people can’t fit in an aisle. –warm, friendly service.

Being so close to 24th Im always glad to spend my money at a place that doesnt he drunk dudes hanging out on the corner. Sandwichs are great and affordable Beer Selection is top notch with everything from Bud to Moylan’s Kilt Lifter Snacks are limited due to the small space but they try to offer a wide selection of chips, dips and quick food. Ya know burritos, tamales and any other cellophane covered crap you shouldn’t eat but you do it anyway. Liquor selection is small but decent for the space. I also really like the dudes that work here. They are always super polite and friendly. This reminds me that I need to go get some beer.

Pavement picnic. Thanks to Sunday Streets Valencia was a party. Indian Summer was in full effect. No cars to get in the way. People out being happy. Thanks to Mission Groceteria I had my own little picnic on the corner of 20th/Valencia. Sourdough bread. Turkey. Veggies. Über friendly. Six bucks. Picnic on the pavement in the middle of October? Priceless.

Got awesome help in my purchase decisions from Omar, 2 nights after my friend got the same. Every time I’ve been in here over the last 6 months it’s just been awesome service by friendly guys. The beer selection is best in the neighborhood by a long shot.

A plus service, clean floors and food you actually want to eat. Could this be the best convenience store in the Mission?

Mission Groceteria completely rocks. I do laundry every few weeks right next to this little store. They stock it with stuff that tastes good, is healthy and that you want. You don’t see Krapola Brand Margarine or Diabetes Inducing Amazing Flakes or every single variety of Fat Ass Flamin’ or BBQ or Hi Fructose Corn Syrup Covered Freetoz. They stock a lot of healthy and tasty things. FTW! There is that beer you like, those snacks you like, that wine you like and even sandwiches that rule over the country that is your mouth while you are ingesting them. I have only seen one guy working there. He is super nice, appears to give a damn about your day and is never shouting on the phone in a foreign language looking at customers like they are a horrible bother that he must endure. This store is fabulous. They have great product, they are nice, they are not shouting on the phone with 17 family members behind the counter competing for attention like half of the stores in that area. Go and buy stuff there now, Aren’t you hungry?

I told myself I need to Unilocal this place when I lived down the block, and then I move to the East Bay and forgot to do it. I really, really, really miss Mission Groceteria. Before it was just a typical liquor store. But then Moham and Omar took it over, put some TLC into it and spruced it up by adding new items, a bigger deli, and a great selection craft beers. But what really makes this place stand out is the service. Moham always has good suggestions for new beers to try, and makes some awesome deli sandwiches just how you like ‘em. If you live in this neighborhood, consider yourself lucky to have MIssion Groceteria as your corner market.

Dear Mission Groceteria, You are my favsies. Your selection of beverages, ice cream treats, vegan soy jerkey, beer, and the occasional home made brownies brighten my day every time. The sporadic 2-for-1 deals on wine keep our household in good supply and in good spirits. Moham — I rarely receive feminine nicknames, I would not be sad if you went back to calling me Rosie. Omar — thanks for that bottle of tequila for my birthday when we first moved into the neighborhood! And for being patient with me while I take 20 minutes to decide what kind of chocolate I want or if maybe I want ice cream instead and then 35 minutes later I have chocolate, ice cream, a sparkling apple cider, and a pack of noodles. Jesus — thanks for looking out and having our backs when that creepo dude followed my bf back to our apt. My friends and I have won many prizes from the poster raffle, like gift certificates and movie tickets! I love that I can purchase a single bagel there or get a whole toasted sandwich while catching up on the neighborhood news. You guys are a bunch of people pleasers and have never disappointed me. Thanks MG! Yours truly, Rikki/Rosie

Mission Groceteria saved me from stale corn flakes! I picked up and attempted to purchase the aforementioned corn flakes along with a package of hint o’ mint Newman-O’s and some local milk. But lucky for me, they saw that the flakes were past their prime and duly refused to part with them. Like everyone says, the people here really are as friendly and helpful as they come. Oh, and hint o’ mint Newman-O’s are awesome. Like the delicious offspring of thin mints and Oreos.

Have you ever eaten a peach so good that your eyes roll back in your head while you’re eating it? I have. I got it from Mission Groceteria of all places, too. As soon as I get done with this I’m eating another. I LOVE Mission Groceteria and I have ever since I came in and found they had vegetarian jerky. I’m a vegetarian on a high protein low carb diet that makes convenience stores a snacking wasteland of high carb, high fat snacks so my joy is/was nearly indescribable. In addition to a decent fruit selection for a corner store, this place has all sorts of real food. The main draw that brings me here is that it’s local Clover dairy plus they have good bread and almost everything you would need to make a nice meal on the fly. It’s clean, bright, and nothing is old or past dated. This place is like an itty bitty Rainbow grocery with some Apple Jax and other normal stuff combined with a lot of food that has actual nutritional value. I like Muhammed, the man who owns this place. He lets me get away with bringing my bike inside the store and is fun to talk to because he loves to bike. It’s a block away… there’s a store across the street from my place and another half a block away. However, it’s the one I shop at most. If you live in the Mission, you should check this place out. I give it my five star seal of approval. Cootz OUT! ({}) P. S. He accepts credit cards without fees. \m/\m/

i wont be the one to bring down the curve. This place has a great beer collection and has even special ordered my BFs favorite beer when he mentioned it! they are super nice an have the funniest sayings on their outside chalkboard. They have a great selection of staples, not the usual weird stuff you see at other corner stores that have an inch of dust on them but real quality goods! and the service is great, I always walk out of there smiling and thinking how nice they are. best in the neighborhood!

Can this side of the Mission get any better?! I’ve lived at the corner of 23rd and Harrison for almost 4 years now and the neighborhood has gone through quite the transformation. Humphry Slocombe, Sugarlump, L’s, soon-to-be Sushi Bistro, and now the new and improved Mission Groceteria! My roommate used to play poker hands to score free ice cream with the old owner, which was cute, but the place had a bit of a sketchy, grungy vibe to it. Now, this corner store is squeaky clean with superb offerings of wine, beer, and your basic pantry needs. Sometimes they offer a buy one, get one free bottle of wine special. The only thing it’s missing is eggs! I have yet to find a corner store in the Mission that has eggs. What’s the deal?

This is everything a corner store should be. Mohammed is the main draw. — He is so nice he is practically radiating sunshine. The store is clean and well stocked and has the perfect variety of merchandise: soy milk, organic juices, baking supplies, — and an awesome selection of beer. Seriously. The beer selection is amazing. And get a sandwich! They are huge, delicious, prepared on the spot, and under-priced. I want to scoop up the whole store and give it a great big hug.

The Mission Groceteria has always been awesome. Grumpy Joe used to gamble with my friend for vitamin water. But now things have changed. They now stock Dogfish Head beers. This is an amazing brewery from Delaware that is not well represented in the small establishments around town. I picked up some Midas Touch and 90 Minute IPA. Muhammad at the register was extremely nice and excited about the neighborhood and life. This place is definitely worth the 1 block stroll off the 24th strip.

Listen up, dudes. There have been BIGCHANGES at the Mission Groceteria. So big that they have eclipsed all the good material that I was saving up for an update to my original review. Those sordid – but now somewhat irrelevant – events had to do with a former employee, my roommate, a boat ride, and some cultural misunderstanding. BUTWHOCARES because now there are new owners, shiny metal shelves, a new range of yuppy-friendly gourmet products, and some serious Friendly Attitude. Back on New Year’s Eve, I was startled out of a mid-evening disco nap by a loud explosion. I guess it was just some fireworks on the street, but as I popped my head to investigate I remember seeing these dudes in front of the Groceteria frantically assembling a huge collection of shelving and refrigeration equipment. The commotion at the store continued for a few days and climaxed one night when my roommate burst in – proudly declaring that we could now purchase kombucha from the above mentioned dudes. So. Basically the deal with these dudes(whose names I think are Omar and Muhammad) is that they are STOKEDONLIFE and are really really grateful for Absolutely Everything. They are especially pumped about their families, their good fortune, and about having every available variety of Ritter Sport(see old review). They have put a lot of work into the place, and stock a lot of cool tasty items that I like, such as Ritter Sport. But beyond the more treat-like products, they seem to have smartly filled out the shelves with the things a corner store really needs to have, things like vanilla extract and whipping cream. These are things that I usually don’t check my own supply of before I start making cookie batter or something at nine pm. Well. Phew. I really need some time to let all this newness sink in a little bit before I form a real opinion about this place. But I will say that things are looking really good so far, and I am now much more likely now to actually go in this place for more than a soda or a beer. I’d really like to try one of their sandwiches, too, especially since my recent Montana holiday meat epiphany(see forthcoming review of the S. family’s Christmas dinner). All I’ll say for now is, keep up the ‘tude, dudes! Positive Neighborhood 2K9! Peace!
