History

Established in 1997.

It started when a dear friend asked me to officiate her non-​binding commitment ceremony with her Lover. After hearing what I had written, her business partner’s daughter asked me if I could officiate her wedding. I said I’d look into it, and over 200 weddings later I’ve been bringing couples together ever since!

Since then I’ve received calls asking to officiate Celebrations of Life, so I added them to my offerings too. I believe in celebrating the life of the dying or deceased’s, first and foremost, and then offering guidance as to how best to move on for the living. I learned this facility from another dear friend, Nancy, an amazing Grief Counselor, who did her thesis by producing an exceptional documentary entitled «Gifts of Grief». Check it out, it will change the way you look at grief and loss forever!

I also accept the challenge of unique and personalized Baby, Divorce & Pet Celebrations of all kinds and I’ve made some new friends along the way, I hope you’ll be one too.

As an officiant since 1997, Irv Spivak truly respects and embraces all personal styles, preferences, beliefs and needs for your unique ceremony. He takes the time to understand your personal needs and desires in order to provide you with a customized, heartfelt and moving event. He evokes just the right balance between solemnity and humor, and prides himself on keeping things short but memorable.

Irv specializes in mixed race/​culture/​religious events as he pays homage to both sides while reveling in their union and the possibilities this offers. He can take whatever ideas you may have and kick them up quite a few notches to the delight of your guests. Best of all, for Irv, this is truly a labor of love.
