We’re all about helping you find the joy in dancing with others. We specialize in partner social dances– salsa, swing, tango & ballroom. Don’t worry if you’ve never danced before or feel like you’ve got no rhythm. We have the experience to get you past feeling awkward & into feeling great about dancing! History

Established in 1991.

The Metronome began in 1991 with a focus on teaching Ballroom Dancing. Through the years, the format expanded to include programs for Salsa, Swing, and Argentine Tango.

Many locals remember Metronome at it’s long-​time location in Potrero Hill. Unfortunately as with many artists in SF, in May 2015 we had to vacate our dance home of 24 years.

Dancers always land on their feet though! You’ll find us at two locations:

~ 136 Missouri St, just 5 blocks down from our original location

~ 1731 Buchanan St Suite 1B, in Japantown

Michelle started at Metronome as a dancer. Metronome was her dance home for daily practices and rehearsals as a competitive ballroom dancer. For those of you that follow the local dance scene, you’ll recall that the Metronome closed for a period of time in 2010. In January 2011, Michelle and a dedicated team of volunteers reopened the Metronome! Now you can take private dance lessons with Michelle or dance with her at one of the Metronome events.
