I thought that getting legal counsel would be unpleasant. Was I wrong! Working with Alison Cordova of McCarthy Law PLC was an amazing experience. She is legally astute, professional, personable, insightful, and generous. Her explanations were very comprehensible, and her style dispelled our stress. I can’t rave enough about my experience. After my initial in-​person consultation with her (and 2 not-​so-​great consultations with other lawyers prior), I knew I was making the right choice. Alison assured me that my situation was not unfixable and she answered all my questions clearly and patiently.
After 6 months, Alison and her team were able to settle my account. Everything was handled professionally – and quite conveniently over email. Anytime I had a question or wanted to check in on progress, I always received a response.

I have worked with Alison Cardova on a private student loan that I had co-​signed for. The student loan was for my nephew. Things happen in life and he was struggling with making the monthly payment. I was told by everyone that there was no way a student loan could be settled. I decided to contact McCarthy Law Firm.
Alison Cardova told my nephew that it was a private student loan and yes she was certain she would be able to help. She is wonderful. It took almost a year but she handled everything. She and her team negotiated for 9 months and we were able to settle this for almost half of what was owed. (not counting her fee, which is very reasonable)

Ms. Cordova and her team were wonderful. They worked with the debt collectors to settle the debt at a very fair rate. During the process they kept me informed of the progress. Every conversation was friendly, courteous, and professional.
