The best food and the best service. This was the best Persian food I ever had., exceptional quality food and superb service. We loved this restaurant. We have many Persian restaurant in LA «Irangeles» but this is the true 5 Star Persian restaurant.

So I been really wanting to try this place for years and a few weeks ago I had my chance. I ordered the (sultani) which has a skewer of filet and a skewer of ground beef kabob…$ 38 for this dish by the way… same dish in Alborz in SF is $ 21.95…complete rip off!!! The kabob portions are not even big and it has very little rice…
Anyway I ordered it anyway because I wanted to taste this dish because of all the hype!
I am native to Iran but I grew up here in Cali so I know good from bad in our food and the quality of service we expect here in the states. (And I served all through college)
One guy was serving the whole restaurant he was good till he got busy then he was running around like a chicken with no head… he was a one man show and his service suffered towards the end… took us about 25 min before we got our check (he passed the check books out to about 6 tables) he carried them around with him till he was ready to pass them all out at the same time!
Now the food… the ground beef was delicious but the filet was just ok not any different (not juicier or especially tender) than the rest of the restaurants I have been to… I got it medium/​medium rare too by the way cause I don’t destroy my meat like most Iranians and cook it to death lol
My friend got the chicken and she wasn’t too crazy about it either… I tasted it and it was ok nothing special

Their food is pricey but the portions are big and enough for two people. Finding a parking spot in this neighborhood is not easy, but this place has valet parking.

Their lamb tongue appetizer is heavenly! I often go back to this restaurant just for this appetizer (it’s actually enough for a meal if you are not a heavy eater). We also had kabob barg, and that was quite good too.

went here on a Tuesday night at around 7pm. When we arrived the entire restaurant was empty. Over the course of the dinner, 3 other diners came in. I was a bit surprised given that we were in San Francisco on a fairly nice day.
anyways, I ordered the Giant Prawn dish which was $ 30. the Prawns were large and excellent, however the order came with just 4 of them. Didn’t see a great value. If I was über-​wealthy, I would have ordered another plate of 4.
What sort of struck me as strange, was their rice. this is the staple. I have been here about 5 times over the years, and the rice was always standout. the rice came very moist, almost had extra water on the plate. I expected the rice to be on the firm –drier side.
we had some apps, a Greek Salad which was standard, if not on the side of not being super fresh, and a plate of Feta and Olives which were good.
Service was great, as to be expected seeing that we were the only table on the side of the dining room occupied.
at the end of the day, I totally enjoyed the Prawns. .but for the cost and the rest of the meal just being average, I wouldn’t go out of my to return.

The first time I tried the food here at Maykadeh was about a year ago and it was just great. However, my second visit of Maykadeh wasn’t anything but disappointment. The food quality wasn’t anything like what it used to be. Their rice was like the rice you get at a Chinese takeout with some butter and Kabab was raw inside and burnt outside. I wouldn’t go back.

One of my all-​time favorite Persian restaurants not just in San Francisco but overall. You know it’s authentic when they start the meal with a basil, onion, radish, butter and pita bread and the Sumac is dispensed from a small bowl not a shaker.
Everything here is good but my favorite is to start with the mastokhiar and hummus and then have the Joojah Kebab.
Clean bathroom. Elegant ambiance but you can come dressed in tourist casual.
You know it’s a good place when there are native Persians eating there (just like at any other ethnic cuisine restaurant).

I would have given a 0 if I could!
All the Kebabs had baking powder and that was the reason for them being slushy.
Will NEVER go back.
I wish I wouldn’t have spend time and money there…

This is only for the takeout, as I ordered delivery from here earlier this week.
I can see that the food would be great if it had been served in person or the menu were clearer on what you would receive with each item. I ordered the lamb chops, which came with rice, and some hummus on the side.
The menu could use some clarification. For example, the hummus is $ 9 (!) and I surmised this must be either the most amazing hummus ever, or a large portion, or include something else– but the menu didn’t specify. I ordered it anyway, and also a side of pita for $ 3.
As suspected, a decent sized portion of hummus arrived, in addition to a full bag of pita (containing 4 rounds) and a smaller tray of sliced pita (equal to 2 rounds– what we ended up eating). Not sure what part came with what, but we obviously overordered on the pita. We also received a small box containing one quarter of a raw onion and some basil leaves– perhaps meant to be a salad, or maybe a garnish?
All in all, I bought one entrée (the lamb chops, which are 3 chops on top of rice) and one appetizer (the hummus/​pita) to share with my husband: it was filling and the chops were seasoned well, but expensive for a weeknight one-​entrée/​appetizer takeout meal. And the hummus was okay, but not $ 9 amazing.
I might come to the restaurant for a special occasion, but I’ll probably skip takeout.

Love Persian food, so decided to try this place out on my Cali vacation.
Do yourself a giant favor and order the filet mignon. It was THE most amazing steak I have ever had. It was perfect. It melts in your mouth and it’s covered in a delicious mushroom sauce and it’s making my mouth water just thinking about it. SERIOUSLY, order it.
Service was good and the staff was nice. My friends got the rib-​eye and the barg. The barg was no good but the rib-​eye was good (but not as good as the filet mignon).
This place is a bit pricey but very worth it.

Come here to explore Persian cuisine and left genuinely satisfied. The food was seasoned well and had excellent flavor all around. Service was a bit off, but otherwise it was a great experience.
We began our meal with the Feta Cheese Spread, composed of oven roasted tomatoes, basil, and olive oil mixed with feta cheese. This spread went really well with the pita bread provided. However, the portion size was pretty large so we really only got through half, trying to save room for our entrees… wrong move. About 30 – 40 minutes after we stopped picking at our appetizer, we noticed the waitstaff making more frequent visits to our table to «check in» — refilling water, rearranging the utensils, taking away plates… but never to update us on whether or not our entrees would (if ever) arrive. That’s when we came to the conclusion that we probably were supposed to finish all the cheese first…
I understand not wanting to «rush» patrons, but observation should have shown that we were pretty ready for our entrees… a simple question would have sufficed rather than constant checks. Eventually, we did receive our entrees (and we didn’t even have to finish the cheese!) and what we ordered was really good!
The Shishlik was our runaway favorite! Done medium-​rare, these lamb chops were impossibly tender with amazing flavor and just enough char. The order is delivered with 6 bone in chops — a great value too! Second favorite was the Khoresht Fesenjoon. Made of pomegranate and walnuts, you can really pick up on the fruity and nutty undertones in this «sweet and sour» sauce. The chicken was also fork tender. The Ghorme Sabzee was pretty good. The kidney beans mixed in with the onion, leeks, herbs, and lime was a nice touch… perfect accompaniment for the basmati rice in my opinion. The lamb shank was also fall of the the bone tender. The only dish I was a bit unsatisfied with was the Koobideh. It was definitely juicy, but there just wasn’t much pizzazz compared to our other dishes.
All in all, delicious meal… albeit taking a lot longer than we had expected due to a tiny snafu.

We had a employee lunch training day today and lucky for me we ordered take out from Maykadeh Restaurant.
It was a very delicious treat to say the least. I ordered the Maykadeh Solanti. Upon opening the box the fragrant aroma of the perfectly cooked basmati rice mixed with the savory smells of the meat captivated my senses. It was also a very large portion and for a petite person like myself I easily made this into two meals which makes the initial pricier cost less so.
The rice was cooked well, but slightly under seasoned which was fine because the juices of the meats marinated the rice adding more savory flavor that makes my mouth water just thinking about it. The solanti (filet mignon) itself was juicy, full of flavor and married well with the rice. The koobideh, though well seasoned, wasn’t as tasty as the solanti nor did the meat melt in my mouth as did the solanti did. Probably because of the type of meat it was. Overall, a great dish, though next time I would just order the Maykadeh kebab (barg) because the filet mignon was the way better of the two meats, that way I’ll save the extra $ 4 and put it towards the Persian ice cream :)

My husband (who’s Persian) and I came to Maykadeh 2 years ago and it was fantastic! So on this trip we were excited to come back. Unfortunately the food quality has gone down and the portions have gotten smaller. The prices seemed a bit steep. We also felt the food was on the saltier side.
That said, their service was excellent. The food came out pretty quickly and our server was attentive throughout the night making sure our water bottle was always full.
It’s a nice Persian restaurant if you want to come to a fancier place with decent food but I didn’t leave craving to come back.

I was in town for work and a local recommended that I dine at Maykadeh for authentic Persian cuisine. When we sat down, we were right away greeted by the manager or possibly owner. Our waitress was fabulous a too and recommended dishes for us to try. We tried the Lamb Tongue, Lamb/​Beef Koobideh, the Koresht Bademhja Lamb shank, Ghorme Sabzee Lamb and Hummus. 100% Recommend!

Best Persian we’ve eaten anywhere around the world (okay, I confess, we’ve not been to Iran to eat the real deal Persian food). My wife and I both got the chicken joojeh along with the beef/​lamb koubideh (sp?) kebab. I love the chicken, she loves the beef/​lamb, so we swapped kebabs so I ended up with two chicken and she had two beef/​lamb. Absolutely fantastic. Eating there reminded me it’s time for me to cook my own joojeh (I found a recipe that’s pretty darn good) again!
You will not be disappointed eating at Maykadeh. We’ve been there so many times and the food is always outstanding.

It is not all about carpets!
Almost every time I have chat about Iran and Persian culture and history, I hear a comment about the «magnificent Persian carpets»! True that they are beautiful in the eyes of many, but there is a lot more to Persian culture than the carpets; Persian Cuisine is an example and at Maykadeh Restaurant they do an excellent job of providing a taste of Persian.
Almost everyone who has eaten in a Persian restaurant will tell you that the Kebabs and the rice are delicious, but if you are more adventurous, try some of the other dishes. For example if you like eggplants, try the Kashke Bademjan for appetizer. If not, try Mast-​o-​Khiar; homemade yogurt mixed with cucumbers and mint.
For main course, you can’t go wrong with the kebabs, but you may also wish to try Khoresht Ghaymeh that is made of Pieces of lamb, yellow split peas, saffron, tomato, sun dried lime and served with Basmati rice. Or Khoresht Fesenjoon, which is made of Dry roasted walnuts, pomegranate juice, chicken thighs. It is a sweet and sour taste and is served with Basmati rice.
What is the meaning of Khoresht you might wonder? It is a generic term for stew dishes in Persian cuisine that are usually served with rice.
For appetizer you may want to try a cup of Persian tea with homemade Baklava. You will not be disappointed with Persian Ice cream either.

If you’re looking to try Persian food for the first time, I would probably not come here, but if you’re a veteran Persian Cuisine enthusiast, and you’re in the neighborhood… sure.
I had not come here in years, but happened to meet a friend for dinner since they lived in the neighborhood. It hadn’t changed much since 2009. The atmosphere is nice, and the restaurant strives for the upper level «steak-​house» feel. We sat against the window, and the cushions on the booth-​like seats were not that comfortable.
For appetizer, we got the classic Kashkobademjaan (an eggplant dish), which was fairly good. They brought out complementary bread and greens. I ordered the breast kabob and since I’m trying to shed the lbs, I asked for a salad instead of the jasmine rice. Our waiter suggested getting grilled vegetables, which I did. Excellent choice. My friend ordered the Khorsesh Badejaan with lamb, which was fairly good.
The staff were quite nice and responsive. I would have given Maykadeh 4 stars, I just feel that their prices are a little high for the food provided and ambience. I will probably come back even if I’m in the neighborhood.

This was an excellent meal. The portion size is large and the service fast.
I started with the Yogurt drink which is good but really doesn’t quench one’s thirst.
The joojeh kebab dish was excellent. The chicken pieces were large and tender. It came with rice and veggies that were fresh and well cooked.
My two friends ordered lamb shank dishes that came out impressively. It was all fall off the bone tender. Very impressive.
The sweet and sour chicken dish was my favorite. Again, the meat was impeccably done. The flavors really worked in this dish. The rice added to the dish.
For dessert, we couldn’t decide so got the poached pear as well as the baklava. I felt that both of these could have been better. The pear could have been softer. The baklava was actually too sweet if that’s possible. But still good.

Ce riz mes amis, ce riz ! Les pièces d’agneau sont particulièrement délicieuses. Pour les amateurs de moëlle, l’os est tranché just au bon endroit pour pouvoir en récupérer la majorité. Par rapport à la quantité de nourriture les prix sont tout à fait décents.
Nous passâmes commande sur Unilocal pour un takeaway et le process fut sans accroc. Cela nous permit de né pas attendre pour aller déguster notre repas dans le parc Washington Square juste en bas. Les portions sont très généreuses; si vous êtes deux, considérez commander un plat et une entrée.
Dans les points négatifs certains accompagnements né sont pas au même niveau que le riz. Le pain plat venant avec la plupart des plats principaux a un goût de carton, calmez vous attentes de ce côté-​ci. Mais je pardonne.
Venez pour le riz et l’agneau !

This is my first Persian/​Iranian food. My friend recommended this place. We made a reservation, thinking it will be busy during lunch time but when we got there, there were no one inside. I thought.. Ummm that’s not a good sign. I was seated and the host was really nice. We ordered 3 things from the menu.
Joojeh Kebabs– Boneless chicken thighs marinated in saffron, onion, and lime juice, with basmati rice. I ordered this dish and the chicken was really good! Very juicy and tender. The vegetables were also on point.
Shish Kebabs– lamb. My friend ordered this dish and she loved it. I don’t like lamb so I would dislike the dish regardless
Kashkeh Eggplant– don’t remember the name of this appetizer but it was primary eggplant in liquid form. It was really good. I liked it with my naan.
Environment– clean, good cultural music, staff were friendly, my table was so clean… too bad we left several stains on the table lol
I would come back here again and order Joojeh Kebabs.

Durchschnittliches Essen. Schlechte Bedienung. Zu laut, eng und chaotisch. Und auch noch teuer…
