Expensive and boring. The salad was just a mound of cabbage with no flavor and the sliders(i had the chicken and pork meatball) were just okay. Would be okay at maybe $ 2.00 a slider, but at $ 4.00 a slider, I expected more.

Tasty but overpriced. Happy to pay more for quality but 8 dollars for two mini sliders that you can eat in two to three bites is ridiculous for a food truck.

Got a chicken slider and chicken curry fried rice($ 10). Delicious, but not enough food for $ 10. Not a good value, that’s my only gripe. I tried this place because not much else was open during the Giants World Series parade, and I’d try it again if there was nothing else around.

Visiting my cousin’s business, this truck was parked in front of Jewelry Mart and the menu caught my eye. Having some food at my office, I debated whether to get something light or not. The sliders sounded the most interesting and their option of 3 for $ 12.00 made me a buying customer. I ordered the following three( ): 1) MEATBALLSLIDER Braised Pork Meatball, Baby Spinach — Okay and probably the most plain of the three, given the garnish. 2) CHICKENSLIDER Caramelized Chicken, Avocado — This was the most flavorful, probably due to the caramelization of the fowl. Nice contrast to the avocado. 3) BEEFSLIDER Shaking Beef, Cucumber — This was the most disappointing as I couldn’t differentiate, texture-wise, this from the meatball. The novelty of truck foods is a hot trend right now, but, given the portions at these prices and the limitations from cooking in the truck, I still prefer dining at a full-service restaurant more.

Ok, so the line to order food was long, the line to pickup food was long, and all of the waiting was worth it. The folks working the truck are super friendly and the food is outstanding.

While they taste absolutely great, the portion sizes are surprisingly tiny(8 bucks at a food truck is usually enough to fill me, but I’m still extremely hungry after paying that much). Also apparently 10 dollar minimum to pay by debit? I understand when people do that for credit, but that’s ridiculous.

Chicken and pork sliders were delicious. The meat was tender and the sauce fit perfectly. Whoever made these, I give you a golden star for each slider I ate. I just don’t think two little sliders that didn’t fill me up are worth $ 8 and one standalone slider I could finish in 4 bites or less should not be a whopping $ 4.50. Maybe I’m a shark/werewolf or something but I finished both sliders in less than 8 bites, so I essentially paid over $ 1 a bite. If it were $ 2.75 for one slider and $ 5 for two, I’d be lining up every day to get one.

I love food trucks and trying out all of the different types out there and Mama Cass was by my place last week so I decided to give it a try. I had never heard of them before but I thought it was really good. I ordered three sliders and got the meatball, chicken and beef sliders so I could try a variety. Each of them were really good an had different flavors to make them stand out. My favorite was probably the chicken which was interesting because I probably would not have ordered that one separately but I’m glad that I did.

Food: 5 stars. Price: 1 star(or less!) In a nutshell, they serve up really delicious Vietnamese sliders. I got 3 for $ 12, and will definitely not be going back again. I wouldn’t mind paying $ 2.50 or $ 2.75 each for these, and I understand there’s the downtown/soma SF tax of $ 1 – 2 markup for lunch, but $ 4? you’ve got to be kidding me… If the price improves to something reasonable, I’d be happy to change this rating to 4 or 5 stars. Oh, and cash only… how hard is it to get a Square POS that everyone seems to have nowadays?

It’s very rare when a business owner contacts you without trying to launch a counter-attack. I get it, social media has a way of making people interact with passive aggression because they can and bad reviews beget bad rebuttals. So I just want to thank Sam from Mama Cass for sending me a really nice message a couple of weeks ago about my bad experience waiting on their truck and to say that they learned from the experience. Yes, the line was much smoother today. Sam and his wife also acknowledged my review and that they were doing something to make it better, which I consider really good customer service. I stand by the positive part of my previous review that these sliders are delicious and the flavor combination is well thought out. I agree that the price might seem a little steep for such small portions, but if anything it’s just enough to satisfy. Besides, name one fancy food truck that isn’t expensive.

I love it when new food trucks appear outside my office so when I saw Mama Cass’s truck and read her menu, I knew I had to try it. I decided on the Meatball Slider and the Beef Slider. My first reaction when I opened my box was WOW… these are tiny. I just paid $ 8 for this?! The sliders were good, very juicy and the flavors were well executed. I enjoyed the meatball slider a lot more though, I thought it was much more flavorful. Honestly, for $ 8 for two tiny sliders, I probably wont be going back since I’d still have to buy something else to eat to be full.

I love trying a new food truck, so I took all three sliders for $ 12.(Shaking beef, carmelized chicken and pork something.) They are almost indistinguishable: ground, grilled meat. All were so salty I’ve been guzzling water ever since. Even if they were really good, two would have been enough, so I don’t agree that they’re too expensive. Just not that good. And why name a food thing for Mama Cass? As someone who’s been afraid to have room service alone since Mama Cass choked to death(yeah, I know there was more to the story), it’s not a good association.

I found this truck by accident and hadn’t heard of them. I am glad I gave them a try after other trucks at an Off the Grid event. Mama Cass serves up Vietnamese sliders. Usually at least four or five are available. I’ve tried the Shaking Beef and Pork meatball. Each of them have been very good, and worth seeking out. The beef has spinach and the pork has cucumber. If I had to pick a favorite, it would be the Pork. Both have sriracha mayo on them with a soft bun. Some of the best things I’ve picked up from a food truck. I will put extra sriracha next time. The day I went, Mama Cass had help from school aged children bringing out the orders. Sliders and daycare?! Might be on to something there. The only knock is they are a bit pricy at $ 4 each. The website says they also serve Vietnamese Iced Coffee, but missed it. I will be back to have more.

saw this truck outside 20th and 3rd in the Dogpatch a few weeks ago so some of the other folks from the studio dropped by to get some sliders. I have to say it’s a lil pricey for what you get but the food is pretty good. Seems like with the proliferation with food trucks nowadays you have to be super selective with what you get. At least there are lotsa options!

Tasty sliders, but VERY slow and VERY overpriced. Maybe if the gal in the kitchen stopped tottering on her high heels, she could work faster. Spent $ 8 on two sliders and was starving again in an hour. Decent food(+3 stars for that) but a poor value(–2 stars for that.)

I’ve eaten at Mama Cass’ food truck twice now, and I have loved it both times. I’ve had all the sliders offered and my favorite is the Kobe Beef slider with the cucumber on top. The perfect combination of heat and coolness. My only complaint is despite my requests, the lovely woman behind the counter refuses to drive her truck to my house and deliver these delicious burgers — seriously deliver these awesome things to me and I will eat them everyday.

Tried this food truck in Hayes Valley at the 7×7 Dogma dog fair. LOVE these Vietnamese sliders, especially the pork meatball with spinach one. They all come with a spicy mayo, which perfectly compliments the tender, juicy meat. Aside from the pork meatball one, I tried the chicken and avocado and the beef and cucumber. It’s $ 8 for 2 sliders or $ 12 for 3 sliders. I don’t really get how these are Vietnamese… they just taste ambigulously asian to me. Iced coffee($ 3) was really delicious. My only qualm with this truck is HOWSLOWTHESERVICEIS. We were at a dog fair, which means my dog was very restless and ready to play with the other dogs in the area. More and more dogs were congregating in the area because their owners were all waiting for the food. It was getting chaotic! Meanwhile, the workers in the truck were meticulously placing meat patties on slider buns without a care in the world. Please speed it up next time!

(The principle:) I understand food trucks have become the new trend. But let’s not forget why food trucks began in the first place. Food trucks came into existence to provide convenient, easy access food at cheap prices to the working community around a specific site/location. Not, toddler portions at adult prices. (The price:) That being said, I understand that trends are not often cheap but let’s be at least REASONABLE. Mama Cass is NOT a reasonable purchase. Two, SMALL sliders for $ 8? Don’t get me wrong, I don’t wear t-shirts saying«Everything is bigger in texas». I am a normal/slim guy with an average, if not, below average appetite. Even in a restaurant, with the overhead of a lease and staff, that plate would have cost $ 6 – 8 for 3 sliders, let alone two. After all, I had to put«$$» for a food truck! (The food:) Which leaves us with the most important question, which is, «Does the slider taste make up the difference in price?» Kinda close but not quite there. The meat was moist, the toasted bun was a perfect choice, but«siracha mayo aioli» is not mayo and a squirt of siracha. All in all a good bite(or two bites max per slider) but not a GREAT bite that warrants a 3x price model. I’m fine with premiums if you get premium, fresh, tasty food that satisfies both the foodie in us along with our appetite. But I’m pretty sure if my 5 yr-old niece was around(yes, she’s a foodie), I would still have to pony up to another truck/lunch stop within an hour.

Finally caught up with this apparently new foodie truck and YUMMY!!! My sliders were delicious with just a bit of hot. I also had the Thai Coffee and drank it so fast due to how tasty it was(of course, later I had a heavy buzz from the coffee). The coffee is very strong so for you coffee lovers this is a good shot of keeping you wide awake though you won’t shut up for a few hours! Back to the food… the bun was fresh and just a bit toasty, the meat cooked to perfection. This is a foodie truck with 4 star food being served. Now I just have to catch up with them again…

Vietnamese Sliders. I was a bit skeptical at first. What will they put in these fusion concoctions? How will they taste? But my skepticism was put to rest after taking my first bite of the Shaking Beef slider. Juicy beef with caramelized onions and horseradish mayo. Delicious! I quickly devoured it and moved onto my Pork Meatball. Nicely seasoned pork topped with spinach and sriracha mayo. Wow, I was equally impressed with this one! Both of my sliders were perfectly cooked to a medium. Nothing red with all the juices retained. The ingredients complemented well with one another, and I especially enjoyed being able to taste each ingredient in every bite. $ 8 for 2 sliders. A bit pricey, and the Vietnamese part was somewhat lost. But these were some good sliders! You can definitely taste the quality! Their launch was at a somewhat obscure location, so hopefully they’ll make it into the Off the Grid rotation soon. Best of luck to you, Mama Cass!
