Macy’s Event: Battle of the Chefs

Battle of the Chefs at Macy’s Cellar: Jennifer Biesty from Scala’s Bistro vs. Dominique Crenn from Luce
Rules were simple: 40 minutes to prepare a dish from the secret ingredient. Dishes are judged in taste, presentation and use of secret ingredient (cephalopods: octopus, squid, etc).
Both chefs have spunky personalities. But of course, I was rooting for Jennifer. Yeah, Top Chef!!!
Likes:
–The excitement! 40 minutes flew by really fast as they dashed around the kitchen preparing their dishes.
–The presentation of the dishes. Both chefs each made 3 dishes instead of the one required. Dominique’s style is more artistic while Jennifer’s «hearty».
–The cocktails! Skyy’s Passionate Crush was very delicious. Gave me a nice buzz.
–The appetizers! Each chef made appetizers. Looove the prawn crostini from Scala’s. The curry soup was not bad either.
Dislikes:
–Not being to clearly see what the chefs were doing. There were cameras pointing only at the stoves. Plus the monitors were so small, it was difficult to make out what was going on.
I still cant believe Jennifer lost by 2 points. Booo!
