Went for happy hour with a great group of co workers. Happy hour is awesome but here’s the thing,. Location: Not in a good location at all so much construction going on down there. I know you can say«well that’s everywhere in SF. Nooo it’s not. You won’t be able to find parking anywhere, not even a garage is near by this place. Nearest one is going to be a fee blocks away. Service: As mentioned earlier, the service was not that good at all for this fine establishment. I know the owner can find a better suited candidate to represent LuLu. There was a guy who was trying to be very helpful but manager just shot him down. Bartenders were on top of their game, I know it was hectic but they did an amazing job. Not really feeling how the manager conducted business in this establishment. She was rude, very uptight, and just thought everything about LULU was the place to be in SF… On top of the manager: location, parking, service, not the best. I will give it up to the awesome bartenders they have, not to sure what’s going on at times.

I’ve walked by Lulu many times and finally gave it a try with a group of friends. The good: very friendly staff & good happy hour drink specials. The bad: the entrees were very bad. The pork tenderloin was very rubbery and the mashed potatoes tasted like they’d come out of a box. The meatball pizza was fine, but not great. Overall the food was really unimpressive. TLDR; come for the happy hour drinks, head to Zero Zero or Oola down the street for dinner.

The food here is interesting but for some reason it’s never warm enough. Mashed potatoes were slightly above room temperature, rare steak was cold, etc. Service is very attentive and they have some interesting cocktails.

Service was great, especially for our large group of 25+. Friendly staff and host. Menu had enough variety for a large international crowd.

This is one restaurant that we would always visit whenever we were in San Francisco since 20 years ago. We used to come here especially for their skillet mussels and their famous roasted chicken and pork loin. Since we have not been back to San Francisco for quite some time — at least 10 plus years, we were quite excited to be back at Lulu again. This time however was a big disappointment. We ordered the exact same famous dishes — mussels, roasted chicken and pork loin. Mussels came out alright but they were all super tiny mussels, almost nothing to be chewed on. Roasted chicken was good, however the roasted potatoes that came with it were not even hot, didn’t seems like it has been reheat enough. The worst was the pork loin, it was cold and felt undercooked to us. You might think that the kitchen must be too busy to make sure everything cooked right, but it was a Saturday night and the place was actually empty at 8pm. Hope this will be improved so that we can still enjoy the good old Lulu on our next visit again.

The restaurant was a little empty when I arrived around 8:20 on a Saturday night. Ordered the Rosemary chicken which was fine but opted for a side of squash which still had the skin on it which I found odd bc they weren’t cooked enough :/. Service was great and our waiter was super friendly but will most likely not go back :(

It’s great to see a staple of SF remain in the sea of restaurants that is the City dinning scene. The mussels were delicious, the mushroom pizza had a crunchy softness, the 32 oz rib eye was charred ok the outside and perfectly medium rare on the inside, and the service was precise and warm. I would mention the bussers were a little quick to clear some of the shared plates but how would they know we wanted to basically lick every plate clean! It’s a great spot for a large party to celebrate the se season or a group of friends for happy hour.

I enjoyed every aspect of LuLu. Upon entering we were greeted warmly by Sam, very kind gentleman. We arrived for a late lunch, so the restaurant was not busy. Our server/bartender was also named Sam, and she was wonderful. She had a few patrons at the bar, and handled our table expertly. We made a request for a French style Kir Royale, and she knew exactly what we meant,(not as much syrupy sweetness). The Kir was wonderful. Our meal was enjoyable, and I like the family style aspect. We had the mussels, which were delicate & flavorful. They didn’t need the drawn butter, but it was a nice touch. We also enjoyed the mushroom fritters with bacon/chive crème fresh, to DIE for! Acquaintances said we had to try the calamari, and I’m so happy we did. Flavorful, with no rubber-band texture. I’m so used to fried calamari, it was refreshing to have it grilled. Everyone on staff was friendly, and attentive, without going overboard.

Great spot to escape the SF Friday traffic madness. We got there Friday around 5:30ish. First thing we read: happy hour 50% on drinks and wine. We were going in anyway but that, kind of pulled us in faster. We went straight to the bar and I had a Kentucky Mule and my partner Sparkling Rosé, then we each had a glass of wine. The wine was exceptionally good and the drink was good and refreshing. We decided to eat at the bar. They have a rotisserie so I wanted to try the chicken, my partner had the pork shoulder. They both were really tasty, good portions and the side salad with potatoes and the polenta were the perfect match. The service at the bar was superb. Overall, great food, great drinks, great service and the happy hour deal was the cherry on top.

Can’t complain about anything. God was fantastic. We got the appetizer of squid and it was delicious. I got the flounder and ate every bite. All deserts were great. Service was perfect. Solid restaurant.

DELICIOUSFOOD! The restaurant has a really laid-back and enjoyable ambience. It’s recommended that you order family-style dishes, meaning that you share the entrees with everyone at the table. We ordered:(we had a big party) — Chicken meatballs — Bruschetta w/ricotta, wild mushrooms, balsamic — Roasted garlic and goat cheese ravioli(YUM!!) — Rosemary chicken w/baby lettuce salad, Yukon potatoes, and Cabernet vinaigrette — Fennel pork loin w/mashed potatoes and jus — Salmon a la plancha — Brussels sprouts(AMAZING) — Gratin Mac and cheese(ALSOAMAZING) — Sweet potato fries The only reason I didn’t give the experience 5-stars is because the waiter was trying VERYHARD to upsell and told us we didn’t get enough food, when we ended up with FIVEBOXES of leftovers. I appreciate the effort, but it made everyone a little uncomfortable.

Had business dinner. Ordered Angus NY Steak for $ 38, Medium rare. The steak did not live up to the $ 38 price, did not have the marbelling of Prime cut steak. The atmosphere is little nosy. All in all there are other places with better value and experience.

Where do I start… litany of mistakes. 1) The incompetent waiter forgot to get drink orders for our entire table. 2) We waited 20 minutes for sweet potato fries we ordered when we first sat down and when they came out they were ice cold. 3) There was one woman(me) at a table full of men. The waiter took orders from the men first until one of us stopped him and asked him to take my order first. 4) Warm food was served on cold plates. 5) The oyster shucker should be fired. Oysters were still stuck to the shell and bits of shell were in every bite. 6) Unable to comprehend a request for a large drink and when asked for it to be remade they put a big ice cube in to make it look like a larger pour. 7) Bussers started clearing food before people were done eating and said they were running out of plates. 8) Drinks were ordered that were never brought out. Simply put, this restaurant, the food, and the service was awful. I would eat off the floor of a dive bar before ever coming here again.

I like the 32 ounce rib eye. It was cooked charred on the outside and medium rare in the middle. The pizza was also pretty good. The thin crust had a lot flavor. I like their wide selection of wine by the glass. The service was a bit slow and not very attentive. It was like when we needed our waitress she was no where to be found.

I love this place and go every time I am in San Fran. Go with two and split the bone in ribeye which takes awhile to cook. It is worth the wait. Start with a salad and don’t fill up, because this thing is to die for. It is thick, juicy and cooked to perfection.

Not the same Lulu’s that I remember! No more valet parking. The mussels were overcooked and really dry. The pizza was okay, but nothing special. The oysters were good… but they were raw so they didn’t have to do anything. On the plus side the service is good and the drinks are stiff. They checked up on us and brought food out within a reasonable time. The strip steak and chicken were good enough but the potatoes were soooo salty. The chocolate cake wasn’t good. I wouldn’t recommend this place for the price you’re paying. There are better places in SF

My visit to Restaurant Lulu was a little spoiled. My aunt and uncle are regulars so we definitely didn’t get treated like the general public. Our wine pours were a bit more generous and our booze pours made things a but more fun for the evening. We ordered a few different things off the menu to share between the 5 of us and I was impressed with everything that came out. We started with the calamari and it definitely wasn’t the typical fried calamari with some sort of inspired aioli or some chef’s kicked up cocktail sauce. The calamari was grilled and came out searing hot. It was cooked to perfection which is a feat considering calamari can get rubbery if over cooked. I can see how this place can get loud. It’s really just an open restaurant with no internal walls so your conversation is pretty much just out there. I guess just don’t have a confidential conversation or kinda be ok with the fact that the person at the table next to you knows about your terrible bunions.
