Awesome, awesome clothing for running and yoga. These clothes are high quality, will last for years, and are (best of all) stylish and cute, and will get you excited about working out.
I came here when I signed up for a half marathon and needed some new running outfits — and wound up leaving with running clothes as well as yoga pants, shorts, and tanks. This was well over a year ago, and the clothes are still in great shape. Highly recommend.

I think I’m obsessed now. My coworker suggested this place for a specific pair of shorts and once I walked in the store, I wanted EVERYTHING.
On a weekday afternoon at lunch time, the store was pretty empty. I was greeted by the sales associates and then went on my way to browse for these amazing running shorts. I picked up a couple to try on and a sales associate opened up a changing room for me.
While I tried on my things, the sales associate checked in on me and brought me more things to try! Fun and cute running jackets, tops, shorts, and pants! I probably had like $ 500 – 600 worth of merchandise in my changing room by the end of it all. I had to resist the urge and walked out with a couple pair of running shorts — my actual intended purchase.
They didn’t pressure me into buying anything more, but man, they do know how to tempt you!
What I bought: Endurance Run Short & Perfect Booty Short

For the longest time, I’ve been very anti-​all-​other-​yoga-​apparel except Lululemon. That is until, I went with a friend and tried on the Hatha capris. It hugs my legs in all the right spots and makes me look lean and tall. The fabric is also wonderful and does not pull or tug when I’m in poses like camel or dancer’s pose. The quality is proportional to the price, and absolutely worth every penny. Since my conversion, I now own 7 pairs of bottoms from Lucy, and they are all perfect for cardio, cross training, yoga, or just lounging around.
Lucy also has sales every so often — 25% bottoms? Yes please!
I also really like this location because it’s not too crowded, and located conveniently in the Financial District — great for some mid-​day retail therapy when you’re super stressed out and need some awesome workout clothes HA! :)
The sales associates here are also super sweet and really helpful. I’ve never had a problem with a style not having my size either. Make sure to check out the sale section to find great deals! But as with any sale, they usually consist of XLs or XSs.

I am in the process of slowly getting back to exercising and decided to get myself some cute workout clothes as motivation. I was looking for lululemon after seeing every girl at crossfit wearing it, but I was told that I should check out lucy as well. Well, I’m SO glad I did! I walked in during my lunch break and Jenna helped me out. She was extremely friendly and easy to talk to and knew exactly what to pick for me to try out. She didn’t laugh at me when I told her sometime I just sleep in my workout clothes and roll out of bed for my morning workout. Also, she was totally cool when I asked her for some possible suggestions off of the sales rack. She went through the entire sales rack and picked out a few things for me – uh… WIN. I tried on several pants (Hatha, the Core one) and several different styles of sports bra /​t-​shirts /​coverup. They were all so adorbs! The clothes were well-​made and were all very flattering for my body. I ended up picking up the Hatha pants and the track goddess tank and some no-​show socks I’ve been looking everywhere for. I had such a wonderful experience there that I think it’ll be my new lunch-​break addiction… uh-​oh.
Stellar service. This is literally night and day compared to lululemon. I went to lulu the other day and NO one even acknowledged me (except for the doorman) when I was carrying a few credit cards and ready to drop some $$. Was it because I was dressed for casual friday??? Lamesauce.
Go to lucy. Forget about lululemon.

I had ordered some new workout clothing before coming to SF and it failed to arrive so I decided to check out Lucy– and I am so glad I did!
I had never been to Lucy before and was promptly greeted by an associated who introduced me to the brand and was a wealth of information on the philosophy of the brand and the types of styles. She told me I would probably love the core pants– I thought they sounded meh until I tried them on– they are my very favorite workout pants now! As I was trying things on the associates were all very helpful in grabbing other sizes for me.
My experience at Lucy was awesome and I love, love, love their pants. Please come to Cincinnati Lucy!

I love Lucy, which is good because after I walked out of Lululemon less than impressed I was thinking I might have to leave the Bay Area. I buy sports bras and cropped running pants here. If you have even the teensiest bit of fat around your midsection, I’ve found that Lululemon cropped pants accentuate the hell out of it. Not so with Lucy — they all have very flattering waste bands that don’t create any unwelcome bulges. The only gripe I have is the sizing — for pants it seems like you have to go down one size from your usual, and for tops/​sports bras, I’ve had to size up. For pants in particular they seemed fine in the fitting room but stretched out a little with wear. I guess it’s vanity sizing, but it’s confusing and the clothes are a little expensive to end up buying the wrong size (can’t return once you’ve worn it). I have yet to check out their Marina location, but this one is chill and easy to browse.

I’m a big fan of the sales at this place since the running attire can become a little pricey if you purchase too much at once. However, I’ve found the running clothes to be just as fashionable as Lululemon, but far more functional at a lower price. About half my running gear came from here.

I am an active runner, less than a gym rat and love my Brazilian Butt Lift DVD yet no matter the activity Lucy fits me like a golf ball on a tee!
First, their fit and fabrics are wonderfully selected and produced! I’m petite; small in my bust, round in my rear, thin all over and their pants fit me well. Their rise and inseam for my body type fit me well so I am not constantly pulling my pants up or down during activity and I get the support I need in all the right places.
I am a big fan of the Hatha Pant for low impact activity or yoga; and I love their run tights which has the reflectors for night jogging, small discreet pockets to house your key, credit card, cash or iPod and more importantly its moisture wicking so I stay dry and cool.
I also love Lucy’s jackets, hats, socks, sports bras and tops. They have clothing for all activities; whether you are a yogi, runner, hiker, gym rat or just want to lounge around the town in style and comfort; they have the assortment that can will fit all lifestyles!

My whole life I wore cotton tees to the gym, then one day I discovered Lucy and it changed my life… well, exercise life, let’s not be TOO dramatic.
The tanks with the built in padded bras are comfortable, cute, and make packing for the gym just a little easier. They don’t show off any of the goods when I’m bending over, they wick away moisture SO WELL, and they look pretty hot. Plus, I don’t have to worry about grabbing a sports bra in the morning.
The prices are a little high, but the sale section is well stocked and good work out clothes are worth it even if what you want isn’t on sale. I didn’t use to be of that mindset, but Lucy has shown me the err of my ways.

I wear both brands, but for different reasons. Both are functional, stylish and well made.
However, I find Lucy’s clothes are superior for intense cardio workouts. Their running pants and shorts fit really well, wick away moisture, stay in place, don’t retain any odors, come with small, hidden pockets, provide just the right amount of coverage and don’t require a long list of instructions to launder them. The compression knee pants are my favorite, as they hold everything tight and keep things cool, especially on long runs. And no, they don’t make me look frumpy!
Their cotton shirts hold up well over time and have cute designs. One word of warning — some of their yoga tanks and compression tanks are TIGHT. If you haven’t tried them on before you might want to go a size or two up from what you regularly wear or you’ll be in the dressing room for 20+ minutes wrestling with it to get it off. I get that they are made to fit tight to hold everything in and contain the jiggle but they don’t seem to be made for my body shape as I’ve tried on different sizes and none seem to produce a good overall fit. The running/​tech t-​shirts may not be the sexiest looking tops but they perform really well and are super soft.
I’ve always had great customer service at this location, whether making a purchase or a return. They know when to let me wander around and when to approach me to see if I need assistance. I do prefer Lucy’s return policy over Lululemon’s as it’s much more customer friendly and allows returns for sale items. Speaking of which, Lucy has some really good sales and offers coupons periodically.
To be honest, I tend to wear Lucy for my super-​crazy-​am-​I-​nuts workouts and Lululemon’s for light workouts or while running errands. For me it’s not one or the other, but taking the best from both.

Lucy is a tease. I love that they have XS sizes that fit me really well. They appear to be good quality materials. But expect to pay through the roof. Granted it’s pretty comparable to many other overpriced yoga brands. What sets Lucy apart is the hassle factor. Like many places, they nicely offer a 20% for yoga instructors. However, even though I had proof of certification on me, I couldn’t get the discount till I’d filled out an application and waited 5 weeks to get a card in the mail. Not a great way to keep my business. But then I learned that the discount doesn’t apply to any sale items which would be the only way the prices even reach the realm of the affordable. So I think I’ll pass on shopping here spend the money on actual yoga instead.

Great sale prices, but not so hot on style or fit. Came here for their post holiday sale. I had aways been curious about Lululemon vs. Lucy and thought that Lucy would be far less expensive. The sale stuff is, but surprisingly, prices for pants and tops are comparable to Lululemon. Did they fit the same? No. Lucy made me feel frumpy, well not «frumpy», but not all happy like putting on my Lulu stuff. Weird, I know, to get excited by cute Lulu clothes.
Bonus: Random Musings.
I truly thought the store was named after Lucy, the name researchers gave to one of the first humans. And I thought, cool, how creative. (Like Genentech’s ticker of «DNA» or Steinway’s ticker of «LVB» for Ludwig Van Beethovan). But then their website shattered that, with the explanation: «We wanted a name that was fun, energetic and inspirational to represent our designs as well as our customer’s outlook on life. We thought lucy fit perfectly, and the many women we asked for an opinion heartily agreed.» To which I say, huh?

I am a fan of Lucy wear but I haven’t always been keen on purchasing fancy work out gear. My big, frayed, falling apart at the seams track pants and big t-​shirts made me perfectly happy… until my friend pointed out that I looked ridiculous. I remember the conversation perfectly clear:
«Q, what are you wearing? Why are your pants so big? Your ass is sagging.»
«What? They’re my work out pants. I just worked out — I wear them all the time.»
«You might want to think about buying new pants.»
«Why? They work just fine. They cover my butt when I run, which is their purpose. It works!»
«Your butt is sagging, see. :grabs and pulls my pants down: See!»
«FINE! I’ll buy new pants!»
And so I wandered into Lucy during one lunch hour just to browse. The nice girl asked me if I needed help and I mumbled something about pants and running, and somehow I ended up in the fitting room with 5 pairs to try on. The staff is very attentive and listens to what you need. I ended up purchasing a pair of running capris that have become my favorite pants. At first I was weirded out and was self-​conscious about how tight everything is but I’ve come to appreciate how light the material feels and how freely I can move. It’s also kind of nice to not hear my pants swishing as I run anymore. The sales are really good and their return policy is excellent so it’s definitely worth checking out!

Since the new year is coming and people will be making their new years resolutions, I thought I would review Lucy.
Lucy has some of the greatest workout pants. I love wearing my yoga capris to workout, run or just hang out around the house. The sales rack is really great, you can find some good deals on their workout wear.
The clothes are not really inexpensive, but they aren’t cheaply made either. I like the workout tops/​tanks that also include a little pocket for your ipod or money. Good looking out!

It’s hard to settle for less when you’ve experienced the best. In comparison to Lululemon’s «designer» brand of active wear, Lucy falls short. It’s older, more «mature» line of clothing is made from good quality materials, and I’m sure would last through any athletic activity. However, the fit of most of the clothing is cut to make women look frumpy, a far cry from the flattering lines of Lululemons’ collection. The price isn’t a steal either — and honestly Id rather pay more for clothing i LOVE to wear.
So the Lucy brand just ins’t my cup of tea… but to each his own. And whatever your spandex preference, as long as your clothing helps you enjoy exercise I’m all for it! Big plus on the service at the Embarcadero location — the friendly sales women know their product and treat every customer with care :)

I will admit it. I walked into this location after a Saturday morning yoga class feeling pretty much like a label whore. My be present yoga pants had their logo on my knee. My lululemon jacket with the tag obnoxiously sewn onto the outside for the world to see that I paid $ 80 for work out clothes. It’s…it’s horribly emabarassing. I should be doing yoga in burlap on the beaches of Mexico, not shopping for a new $ 50 mat with more traction.
I was also biding my time. Yogen Fruz next door opened at 10AM. It was my birthday. I’m allowed to have frozen yogurt for breakfast on my birthday without anyone judging me!
I had no intention of really buying anything. I had walked in to look at the mats I knew they carried, but before you know it, I’ve got a freaking dressing room started, loaded full of sale items.
The sale rack here is always full of cute stuff and you can’t resist because… dude, these pant used to be $ 60 and now they’re $ 20! Love it!
I walked out with a pair of comfy pants and a hoodie and only spent $ 48. If I had been in lululemon, I would have walked out with one item costing $ 150.

A friend first introduced me to Lucy in Palo Alto awhile ago so I was looking forward to checking out the new space in the Embarcadero. I love finding new workout clothes so I was pretty excited to see what they had. They have a lot of workout clothes and a lot of casual active wear. Not to mention they have little girly knick knacks like something to remove deodorant from your clothes, yoga mats, a tiny book on yoga positions, hair ties, flip flops, odor removers for your stinky gym clothes. I even found a little pack of nipple covers. No I didn’t buy them, but thought it was interesting in case I ever felt like they were necessary.
The staff was extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. They had some sales there. It’s a very cute and kind of small store geared for women who like to be casual and comfy.

This place is great! They are a bit expensive but their clothing is really worth it. I am not a total athlete but I do like to be comfortable, especially since I work from home and I don’t want to be sitting around in sweats all day…
Their service is really great and I really like shopping at the embarcadero because of the parking and their are tons of other cool shops to go to.
