Love Painting

Love Painting does great work at a competitive price. This is my second time hiring his team. Four years ago Sean’s team completely stripped 100 years of old paint of the back of our Inner Richmond Victorian and made it look new again. You can actually see the wood grain under the new paint! Today, his team just finished painting our new garage/​inlaw room and bath. And again, great job. Regardless if you have a painter in mind, talk to Sean and get a free est to compare against. I do not write many Unilocal reviews but this was worth 5 stars from start to finish. Sean and his team were completely professional. I had initially had three estimates and Sean’s estimate was the most detailed and professional one. He was very easy to work with as the house we had painted was a surprise for my parents and he worked easily with my sisters and I during the entire process. Al was the one who led the paint team and kept me posted throughout and answered all our questions patiently as painting a house was completely new to me. The end results were beyond our expectations and needless to say my parents were thrilled when they came home and continue to rave about Love Painting. I know that they will definitely be my family’s first choice for all painting jobs in SF!

Met with Sean Love on July 30^th to get estimate for painting the exterior of my house. He indicated I would have an estimate within a week. On August 15 I sent an email asking if I had perhaps missed his email, but I have not gotten a response. Thanks for wasting my time.

We recently had the exterior of our house painted by Love Painting and are very happy with the result. Sean is extremely knowledgeable about his field.
Pompeyo and his crew could not have been more pleasant to work with, always arriving when they said they would, and keeping us informed about what what was being done each step of the way. They did an incredible amount of sanding, patching, treating nails, etc, and still finished the job on time. They even finished cutting down the vines we couldn’t reach, at no extra cost to us. They left the property looking really good – We were especially pleased that all the windows were left sparkling.
Oh, and all of this at a very competitive price.
Don’t hesitate to use these guys – they are true professionals.

The real test of any contractor is whether they actually honor their warranty when something goes wrong. Do they come back and fix the problem, or do they give you the run-​around and try to evade you? Do they cheerily set up an appointment to check out the problem and actually show up, or do they make themselves unavailable, hoping that you will go away.
I am happy to report that in the case of THIS contractor, 2.5 years after the outside of my condo was painted there were some issues with the paint. Not only did this contractor show up on time and do the remedial work but there was never a discussion of trying to charge me because it wasnt their fault. They honored their warranty, AND were the low bidder. They rock. :)

This is a real review by a real customer. These guys are the «real» deal. Very clean, very professional, very friendly from the initial color consulting, to the prep, and clean-​up. They delivered a great job and did not leave anything (i.e. garden) damaged. They actually made some extra fixes and offered a free touch-​up post my roofing job.

I hired Sean Love to paint my entire apartment right before I had my baby. I was super pregnant and super grumpy. Sean has excellent employees, especially Pompe. My place was always livable at the end of the work day and they were very considerate and easy to have in my home. They also would communicate when they were going to be there, if they had any questions, etc.
The work they did was great (granted I just painted everything white) and they didn’t go over what Sean quoted me from the beginning.
All in all it was a pleasant experience and he and his guys helped create a wonderful clean space to make a home for my baby. It looked like a new apartment when all was finished.
I’d recommend Sean and his company.

Five star service! Our house had a roof leak and the kitchen, dining room and part of the leaving room walls and sealing were damaged. After repairing the roof I got 4 estimates to repair the inside of the house. Went with Love Painting primarily because I thought Sean was the most knowledgeable. I was dead on. Incredible work these guys do. Super clean and they finished the job on time and as promised.

Called them, but turned away and off super fast! Was told that their minimum for a job was $ 3,000. OK. Well, goodbye!

Being a first time Unilocal user I was glad to have used Love Painting. They did a great job on my house. I used previous painters in past jobs and was disappointed. I was even able to get help with what colors to pick. Thanks guys and the house looks great!

From the first meeting of Sean for the estimate to waving off his team after 5 days of work on the exterior of our house, they were a class act. The house was immaculately completed with little impact on us. Sean and his team were so great we are having them back again to help us with our interior.

In response to Sean Love’s comment of 4÷30÷13:
Sean Love indeed emailed me on ¾/​14 (nine months after my Unilocal review and sixteen months after the job was finished). In his email Mr. Love complained his business had been severely hurt in addition to 20 employees losing their jobs due to my Unilocal review, that Hugo Castellanos had been fired specifically because of the work on my house, and he offered to meet with me to look over the problems. I replied back that same day that I was willing to meet to show him the issues, yet I have never heard a response. It seems a bit misleading to refer to this as «reaching out» in his public Unilocal comment to me. Also it seems worthwhile to ponder, if Sean Love knew there were enough problems on my painting job to fire the foreman for it in July 2012, why had I not heard from Mr. Love until March 2014?
As far as Hugo Castellanos (the job foreman) being a contractor: Hugo handed me his business card for Castellanos Painting while on my job for Love, and repeatedly didn’t know what was in the Love Painting work contract, nor previously discussed with Sean Love nor Greg Bagly (the project manager) of Love Painting. Whatever the reality of their work arrangement, my painting job certainly felt subcontracted out.
I am still willing to meet to resolve what issues can be resolved. But Sean Love (or someone from Love Painting) must respond to my emails to establish a time to do this and follow through –I will not waste time attempting to chase Love Painting.

Should have reviewed them in 2010 when they did this job, interior of a large triplex. They were excellent.

Update, long overdue
Love stepped up once again and tackle our very tired, chipped, pealing, neglected exterior with as much dedication as previous projects. This job was BIG, lots of worn trim and weathered breezeway to prep, but it was done to perfection. It’s been months and I still drive up thinking «right on, I live here» :)
Oh, and they fixed cracked windows to boot! Can’t beat the service.

Quick tip: I called to get an estimate on painting my bathroom and they are only accepting jobs of $ 3,000 or more.: (

The quality of the paint job (i.e. the end result) was quite good. If I was just rating them on that alone, I’d give them five stars.
However the supervision and execution of the job was very poor. On that, I’d give them one star, hence my average of 3 stars — just ‘OK’.
On numerous occasions I reminded the operations manager, job supervisor, etc. to do certain things (spelled out in the contract) and they didn’t happen unless I stayed on top of them — and even then, on the last day of the job — something I had reminded them three or four times to do — wasn’t done. VERY frustrating. So, if you don’t mind staying on top of them every step of the way (if necessary) the end result is a quality paint job.

This review is really late, but I wanted to make sure I gave Sean and his team many compliments on a wonderful paint job on my home. They have a fantastic colorist who helped us narrow down our very-​difficult-​to-​get-​right yellow. I had no idea how much green, brown, and orange was hidden in the color «yellow». And thank goodness she could see it because, otherwise, my house would have looked like a taqueria!
Sean’s crew were professional and very kind. Their paint-​stripping machine removed approximately 14,000 layers of old paint, and it still looks great even months later.
I highly recommend these guys for an affordable, professional, and thorough job.

Sean Love painting…we love Sean!
We first used Love Painting a couple of years ago to completely re-​do the exterior of our Victorian — repainting, woodwork, something funny with the turret. .. total re-​do. Sean and his people helped us pick an awesome color scheme and then carried on with the project efficiently and quickly. The house looks great! And it’s worth noting that their prices are super competitive. We’ve had a few issues with touch ups and Sean has always sent his crew for quick repairs within a couple of days.
6 months later, Love came into our apartment and painted the interior. We had some major DIY-​painting fixes that needed to be done, our ceilings are super high and we had a timeframe to meet. . once again the project was done perfectly, quickly, and with a pleasant attitude. They actually suggested that didn’t need the entire apartment to be re-​done with two coats which saved us a bundle.
Sean is a great guy who does good work — call him, you won’t be disappointed.

5 years later, we had Love Painting repaint the back of our house again. We paid a very reasonable price and the work was done on time and within budget, just as we’ve come to expect from Sean and his crew.
The underlying layers of paint were more than 90 years old, so this time we had them strip down the paint to the bare wood — a recommended step that we’d ruled out in the past as being too expensive. But now, Love Painting has a high-​tech paint shaver that does this job quickly and cleanly.
We could not recommend this business more highly.

The Love Painting crew is terrific – they painted the back of my house efficiently and meticulously. They also painted my deck and patiently helped me through my «oh-my-this-just-isn’t-exactly-the-color-I-thought-I-wanted phase, always being courteous and helpful, bringing in sample colors for me and perfecting the end result. Javier, the foreman – as are all his crew – is very professional and punctual and makes every effort to make sure the client is pleased with the work. All are very conscientious, too, about meticulous clean-​up. Extremely reasonable, too, with their prices. A good bet all the way around!
