Lombard Towing

I had one of those nightmare days today, the kind where you sit back and just can’t believe that is what happened. This morning during the heaviest downpour, the alternator on my car went out immediately south of the Golden Gate Bridge toll plaza. My heart just sunk — I truly believe that car problems are a woman’s worse nightmare come true. Luckily the Golden Gate Emergency Responder was right behind me and he was able to call and get me off 101, and into a residential area at Lake & 14^th Ave. Those guys were wonderful! My husband and I both called our Insurance company that we have Roadside Service with, at 9:20 & 9:35 and we were both told that somebody should be there within an hour. Needless to say that hour turned into two, and then three, and then four; we both continually checked in with the insurance company, letting them know that I am 35 almost 36 weeks pregnant in a residential area where there is no place available to go to the restroom, I have not eaten at all, and have nothing to drink. Eventually, a Supervisor for the Roadside Service company called me and I honestly burst into tears because we had just been told that three towing companies had been dispatched and all three cancelled, I didn’t know if anybody was coming. I will admit that the Customer Service agents we were working with were very nice, and I think they were trying to be helpful — but the whole system is very broken. The first towing company they dispatched is based out of Southern California and had their San Francisco shop in Oakland — yes only ten miles or so away on paper, but that would be like 50 miles anywhere else. Eventually, my knight in big yellow truck showed up at 2:30pm (five hours after the original call). Jerry from Lombard Towing showed up and was wonderful — I asked if he would mind stopping on the way to Marin for me to get something to eat and go to the restroom after he hooked up the car. He opened the truck door and had me climb in and immediately took me to a coffee shop about five blocks away where I was able to get some food and use the not open to the public restroom. Then he hooked up my car and took me to the mechanic in San Rafael. The whole time Jerry was just so wonderful, he told me about his wife who you can tell he adores, the company that he is so proud of and his children. Jerry was my lifesaver today.

My fiancé’s car was hit in downtown San Francisco while parked. Jerry from Lombard tow came to take the car to our body shop in San Mateo. We left Jerry around 4pm and we contacted our body shop around 5pm and were informed that the car had not made it there. 5:30pm goes by, still nothing. We call both the numbers on Jerry’s card and they are disconnected.
We look up Lombard tow and are able to get in touch with him. When we ask him why the car hasn’t made it to our shop, he said that he had contacted them and no one was there, the body shop where we’ve been going for 10 years confirmed this was not the case. Now we actually become worried about the car, disconnected numbers, no contact, nothing.
We mention to him that we would like to get the police involved. His tone completely changes and he becomes very apologetic and says he’ll have it there by 8:30am the next morning. Sure. Want to guess what he charged to keep the car overnight? Oh, just $ 1,800, for one night of storage. This guy is a crook.

No impressed at all. I was getting my bosses truck towed and it seems as if this was the drivers first time hooking up a vehicle. Not to mention he was 35 min late from the scheduled time. Won’t recommend them to anyone.

Jerry at Lombard Tow is great. I had to have my fiat towed to my mechanic about 1 ½ months ago and Jerry came out within 20 minutes just as he told me he would. He was extremely efficient and takes great care with your car. Super nice man, highly recommend!

These guys are crooks, same as another review I read, they drove by right after I got in an accident while I was on the phone with AAA. The driver who said he was the owner of the company continued to convince me that he accepts AAA as payment. The next day when he delivered my car to my mechanics he delivered it alond with a $ 700 bill! $ 350 for the tow and $ 350 for one night of storage! My mechanics had to pay the bill so the crook wouldn’t take my car back to shop, and I went from thinking my AAA covered the bill to paying $ 700 out of my student loans. Bottom line these guys are terrible, taking advantage of people when they are frantic directly following an accident. I am currently in the process of taking them to small claims court and reporting them to the better business bureau. Stay away from Lombard towing!

I’m driving along in my automobile two days ago and suddenly I feel the engine die out, yikes I’m on the freeway! I manage to pull over to the right shoulder safely but the freeway was on a slight right curve where I was stopped so it was a dangerous spot to be in. Cars were whizzing by so fast I thought I was going to get hit by one! A minute later, before I had even called my roadside service to send a tow truck, Jerry from Lombard Towing shows up and stops to help! He offered to tow me to a safer area. I know, you’re thinking, «he’s supposed to stop, that’s his job». Trust me, even if he was just doing his job, you would’ve wanted him to stop too and I’m glad he stopped. I’ve seen many tow trucks and even cops pass by cars that were stuck on the side of the road. I’m grateful that I didn’t have to wait an hour for my road side service to send a truck. He offered to have his garage look at it and towed my car there which was only an exit away. The guys there were really nice and gave suggestions as to what the problem might be but did not try to push me into getting my car fixed there. In the end i decided to hold off since I wasn’t sure if I wanted to fix it or just donate it. Thanks for the kind service Jerry, mechanic dudes and Lombard Towing!

Fast, efficient. AAA wouldn’t tow my (or your) car as I had lost my keys. Lombard did it fast and easy, and it’s a pleasure watching experienced guys do their complicated job well.
If AAA doesn’t reimburse me, bye-​bye. I don’t pay them to be useless to me.

OMG, my car’s gasket went out and I couldn’t get it jump started. Called Lombard Towing after reading all the 5 stars reviews but ended up waiting 45 minutes passed the agreed time. The dispatch officer said the tow truck will get there at 7:45am when I called at 7:13am. no show at 8am, so I called and the dispatched said the driver was at the Embarcadero (Ferry building in San Francisco) and should be there shortly. My car was literally less than 10 minutes from the Ferry Building. At 8:15am, still no show so called again and was told that should take another 5 – 7 minutes. At 8:30am, still no show and i was hungry, tired and fed up, so i called to canceled the service… finally got the the shop at 10am after the mechanic sent his towing company to rescue… what a Monday!

Yesterday was just about one of the worse days in awhile… one of those… you should have stayed home days. I happened to have gotten a flat tire on the morning and had my insurance company send someone out for roadside assistance… got my tire fixed and on the way home stop at Best Buy… My battery (in my cars defense… it is a 6 year old car and I had NEVER changed the battery… go Saturn! LOL) decided to die on me… such luck… I am stuck in the parking lot of Best Buy and my insurance company wants me to give them the name of a place I want to get my car towed to… don’t they have a list of places??? Well, I got flustered and hung up… made some calls and then decide to look under the hood… as i am outside looking like I am pretending to know what the deal with my car is… a man is driving on the street in a tow truck and yells across the way «Do you need help?» He come over… hears my sad story… i start to cry and he tells me not to worry… we can tow it to a shop. He was so nice and friendly. Very professional too. His name is Jerry and the owner… if you EVER need a tow… call this place… I didn’t even know that you can have your insurance company reimburse you. Jerry was there at the right place and time… thank you lord! :)

Last week, I try to start my car (a small 4WD SUV) and hear click, click, click. Hmmmm… open the hood to find the battery is corroded. My husband picks up a new battery and installs in on Saturday morning. Try to start it and again, click, click, click. Grrr!!! Now, you have to picture that our parking space is 3-​stories below street level, and there is a 6ft. maximum clearance. I called roadside assistance and they sent a wrecker! I called back and (re-)explained the scenario. 2 hours later, Manuel arrived with a small tow truck — which could handle towing a 4WD. After a good deal of finesse and careful steering, the car was towed to a local mechanic. These guys are pure class and professionalism! Here’s hoping the repairs go as smoothly.

Do not use these guys.
I had an accident and they happened to be there. They told me that my AAA would pay for all, that part is fine. The bad part is that they tried to keep my car in their storage for the weekend and made it inconvenient for me to pick it up, lengthening the storage time. All results in a lot more money and time.
Business should be done better!

Jerry is incredible, though he might not say the same about me as a customer. He is dedicated and truly cares about his customers.

I get in an accident because some idiot makes a dumb move and I’m not in a good neighborhood. Well, Jerry forgoes lunch to get to me in 15 minutes. He was great and is the owner of the company. So obvioulsy the business means a lot to him. He was also heading sort of in my direction and dropped me off at home so I didn’t have to walk from the body shop! At least he made part of the day better!
