Linda’s Rug House

We bought a rug for our son’s room from Linda and Peter back in 2013, and the rug has been great. So, a couple of weeks ago, when we were in the market for a new runner rug, Linda was the first person we called. She had a good selection of runners. We took one 20′ runner home for a free trial and ended up keeping it. Price-​wise, it was comparable to the 20′ runners we were finding online, but with the benefit of being able to return it hassle-​free if we didn’t like the way it looked in the house. Would buy from Linda and Peter again in the future.

I’ve been haunting stores for weeks now looking for a rug for our living room. Shocked by the prices — and not too keen on many of the choices — I found this review on Unilocal and decided to give Linda a call. So glad I did. She welcomed me to their home in the inner Sunset and listened closely to what I wanted. Then she and Peter pulled out rugs they thought would work. I took home one rug — didn’t quite work but it helped me focus on what I did want. I consulted with Linda again and she and Peter took the time to review their inventory and sent me pictures of new rugs to consider. When I returned to their house a second time to see them, I fell in love. Not only is the rug I bought beautiful and elegant but the price is much more reasonable than what I’d become accustomed to. I’m so happy! Note: In addition to selling rugs Peter and Linda also rent them out for events.

My husband and I had a great experience with Linda’s rug house. We were in the market for a Persian rug and had something very specific in mind. Linda and her husband showed us probably 20 different rugs once we described what we were looking for, and then let us take a few home to see how they looked in our house, which was so helpful and not something I would have been able to do at all if I’d bought one at the flea market, which is what I had been planning to do before we found Linda’s. She and her husband are super knowledgeable and sweet, and we felt the prices were very fair given the quality. Highly recommended!

Let’s just say my rug is absolutely fabulous and I love it. Thanks to Linda and Peter I was able to learn about my rug (they are super knowledgable about Persian rugs in general and had a great selection to chose from), take the time to make sure it was the perfect fit for my space (they let me keep the rug for about a week while I was contemplating), and lastly, they were really great to work with. I would highly recommend them, and would go back to them myself before a retail rug store, if you are looking for an affordable, high quality Persian rug. Thank you Linda and Peter. Went to floor craft to purchase a new runner for our hallway and was very disappointed with the quality and prices of the synthetic carpets we looked at. As we sat in the parking lot contemplating our choices, my husband had me google «wool carpets for sale in San Francisco» and Linda’s Carpet House popped up! We called her and made an appointment to come in that afternoon to see what she had to offer, and boy we were impressed! We learned so much about wool carpets that day, from how natural dyes are used to color the carpets and how the wool carpets are actually made. We also got a lesson in caring for the carpet we bought that afternoon, she was very knowledgable and patient with us.
Long story short, we purchased a beautiful wool runner for our hallway and the price was right! I will share this local treasure with all my friends and highly recommend Linda!

so this time, we didn’t decide to purchase a Persian rug but I wanted to update the review b/​c Linda and Peter were so gracious when we returned to look for a rug for our new home. They lent us half dozen rugs and gave us a week with the rugs to contemplate whether they would work (and the rugs were gorgeous — we just decided on a different style for the room). The quality and prices were so much better than we found in any retail store — I can’t see why it would make sense to purchase a Persian style rug anywhere else!

I needed a rug quickly, but am particular about my home furnishings. Due to the excellent Unilocal reviews I called Linda’s Rug House. They had an excellent assortment of rugs (all hand-​tied) and I bought one that was the perfect size for the room. I was happy and went back to buy two more rugs and two runners. A very nice couple, who were flexible, cooperative and knowledgeable. Very good prices and I cannot recommend highly enough.

The rug business is full of shady characters misrepresenting what they’re selling and fancy retail stores where the mark-​up is ridiculous. Which is why I was thrilled to find «Linda’s Rug House» run by Linda and Peter, a true mom-​and-​pop operation that they run out of their garage in the Inner Sunset. They specialize in rugs made by Afghani refugees in Pakistan and are a wealth of information about the rug making process.
I bought an absolutely gorgeous Choubi Soumak flatweave rug from them several years ago and just stopped by their place a few days ago and saw lots of beautiful new rugs that had just arrived. They are extremely honest, easy to deal with, and friendly. 5+ stars for the service and integrity, 3 stars for the set-​up since it’s a small, cramped space but they are passing the savings on to you that would otherwise be spent on an upscale storefront. It’s far from glamorous but if you can get past that you’ll find incredible rugs at great prices. If you have pet allergies just be sure to let them know since they’ve got a few cats and a small dog running around in the main part of the house where business is conducted.

Friendly, knowledgeable, great prices, and a comfortable setting… what else could you want from a rug buying experience? I bought my first rug from Linda and Peter, who I recognized as sincerely good natured and honest people from the moment I met them, and I’ll definitely be back.
They took the pressure out of the retail experience and even allowed me to take a couple rugs home to try out before committing, this truly shows their good intention. I got a beautiful rug at a fantastic price.

We had a great experience buying a rug from Linda and Peter. They have a good collection of hand-​woven rugs from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iran and were very helpful and patient showing them to us, making recommendations and explaining the ‘technical’ details about each kind of rug.
Most importantly, their prices are extremely reasonable and Linda gave us a discount on top of that too :-)

This may come as a surprise to you, but you don’t have to bargain with shady rug dealers to get GREAT rugs anymore!
Linda and Pete were delightful to work with. They have fantastic rugs, and will work within your budget. Surprisingly, in this case, that does NOT mean that you’ll be getting cheap stuff! All of their rugs are top quality, and the price depends on what THEY paid for the rugs.
Linda has a wealth of knowledge, so you will learn a lot while you’re hunting for your ideal rug (which will probably turn into your ideal RUGS by the end of your time there).
Since I wasn’t sure which ones would work in the space, she let me take home five rugs at a time to try them out! And I came back a couple times to restock. She and Pete spent so much time with me trying to find just the right fit!
So if you’re considering oriental rugs for your home, you should absolutely call Linda. She will treat you like family and in my opinion, she’s the best in the business!

Bought two rugs earlier this year. Very knowledgeable and helpful. Spent a lot of time explaining different rugs and help me choose a couple that I really liked.

Linda and Peter helped me find the perfect rug for my needs. They were responsive and friendly, and they encouraged me to take several rugs home to evaluate directly. I’m not a rug expert, but I think their prices are very good due to their lack of most overhead expenses. The next time I need a rug, they will be my first and only contact.

I concur in the prior reviews. Linda’s Rug House should be at the top of your list when looking for «oriental» rugs. Her selection is actually about what you would find in a store, but the prices are so much less. She’s great to deal with in every way… but take your pills if you are allergic to cats, as she has three of them. One does an amazing trick; ask her to show you. Bottom line – Linda’s is the place.

I LOVE LINDA’S RUG HOUSE!!! My boyfriend and I bought three rugs from them and have been very happy. These rugs are works of art. They are all pure wool, dyed with natural dyes, hand made and reasonably priced.
The owners (Linda and Peter) were super friendly and even let us take 11 rugs home to «try them out» for a few days in our place — test the colors, size, patterns.

Buying a rug from Linda & Peter was truly the best experience we could have had in buying rugs! They are highly recommended!
We were looking for a nice persian, but really couldn’t afford the typical price range associated with buying such incredible handmade rugs. We let them know our budget, and they were able to show us a very large variety of rugs (and, for the quality, was truly impressed by how many actually fell into our price range).
The greatest part about working with Linda & Peter — they actually let us bring home several of the rugs we thought were contenders… this was really great! We were able to see all of them exactly how they looked in our place, and were able to make the best decision possible. You simply couldn’t ask for more! We simply returned the rugs we didn’t want the next day, and happily paid for the one we kept.
It was truly a pleasure buying a rug through Linda & Peter — they could not have been nicer, more knowledgeable, or more helpful, and really went the extra mile to help us find what we wanted (among their many many selections)… we’ve had our rug for about a month now, and couldn’t be happier with it! The next time we plan to buy another rug, I will, without a doubt, be going back to Linda’s… it’s a treasure-​chest of rugs with prices that can’t possibly be beat… they’re the best!

We had a great experience here. They have a great selection of beautiful rugs and are very knowledgeable about them. Its fun to be in their cozy house and not feel any sales pressure, and great to support a family business. (We appreciated that she was chill when our baby spilled an entire bag of pretzels on her showroom floor.) Prices are very reasonable for handmade rugs.
Only reason they do not get 5 stars is they are hard to get ahold of on the phone sometimes, as they do not have regular hours like a normal store. A few times I was out and wanted to come by, but no one answered, and no one called back when I left a message. It made it a bit hard to schedule going by. Otherwise, great experience!

This is my first review on Unilocal as I felt compelled to let everyone know how easy and wonderful it is to buy a rug from Linda. She has a great, diverse collection and the experience is completely laid-​back and relaxed. It amazes me how a single rug can create so much impact and positive change in a room!

Shopping at Linda’s Rug House was a delightful experience. They have a great selection of rigs which they will patiently roll out one by one until you find the one that’s right for you. The prices are reasonable, and you get a good history of the rug and how it is made. I would highly recommend this dealer to anyone shopping for a rug in the Bay Area!

Linda and Peter are great and have tons of patience with you and seem to know a ton about rugs. 5 stars for letting you take your choices home and low pressure sales. You call and make an appointment with you, and they will show you rugs you are interested in. 3 stars for the selection compared to regular rug stores, and there’s probably not much they can do about this b/​c all their inventory is in their house.
You can get rugs cheaper if you shop on Ebay/​Craigslist, there’s probably a 2−3x markup from what you’d find there, but you won’t be able to return anything, and it’s still cheaper than rug stores, but you could always 2x as many on ebay, and then try selling em to your friends if you are really cheap :)
We got a couple of rugs after taking 7 home. Overall a great Unilocal experience, we’d go back!
