Andrew is wonderful! He’s helped both our kids with writing, test prep, guidance on schools and more. He’s thoughtful, and creative. He tailors his methods based on each kids needs. He’s always responsive to inquiries. Bottom line: we love Andrew. We trust out precious darlings to him and he always delivers!

Andrew’s mentorship in writing college application essays has been great. I came to him when I had trouble brain storming ideas for a few essay questions and when I needed his expertise in proofreading my essays and reviewing my initial thoughts about what I wanted to include in my answers. Andrew helped me structure my ideas in a way that was clear and interesting to read.
During my sessions with Andrew, he helped me create new ideas that I did not think would work well in a college essay; however, he showed me how these ideas actually did make my essays unique. His guidance in writing the essays helped me tell my story and talk about my reasons for why I would love to attend the colleges I applied to in a convincing way. By the last few sessions I have had with him, I became more comfortable in expressing my ideas in the essays. Without his help, my essays probably would not have been as thought provoking and grammatically correct.
Andrew helped me relieve the stress of the «dreadful» college application process. Without him, I do not think I would have had the same results as I do now. I have been accepted to my first choice college among several other acceptances. I recommend him to anyone who seeks help with the college application process, whether it be proofreading essays or brainstorming ideas.

Andrew worked with my daughter for about a month between SSAT exams. His manner was patient and easy going. As a result, he quickly earned her trust. Though we were only able to do about half a dozen sessions, my daughter’s score improved dramatically such that she was admitted at her first choice school along with several others.
Should we ever need another tutor, we would go back to Andrew in a flash, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to others.

I have experienced Andrew’s mentorship in a variety of ways. Whenever I lack confidence in a fledgling idea, I seek Andrew to help me give it structure, integrity, and clarity. In other words, I trust him to refine my work in all things related to the humanities (History, English, Ethics, etc.).
When I try to evaluate his teaching style, the word «generosity» comes to mind. Material generosity is, of course, a virtue; but mental generosity is rarer and more valuable. Andrew never hesitates to be mentally generous. He facilitates the academic processes of brainstorming, essay writing, and learning strategies so successfully because he is genuinely interested in these concepts himself, and furthermore interested in imparting that understanding to young people.
Teachers like Andrew have made my formal education a memorable and rewarding experience. I recommend him to anyone who seeks to improve their academic performance through lasting and non-​superficial means (i.e. by cultivating genuine interest in the subject at hand).

Our son hit puberty and his attitude and academic performance in seventh grade jeopardized his chances of getting into private high schools. Our school highly recommended Andrew as someone who could tutor on subjects, but more importantly work with our son on more fundamental skills needed to be a successful student — organization, time management, test preparation, constructing a thesis, and so on. We were surprised at how easily Andrew earned our son’s respect. He showed compassion and patience as our son regained his confidence in school. He also provided great reassurance to us as parents. Our son’s school grades improved dramatically.
High school applications start early in the eighth grade year. Our son applied to five schools, each requiring several lengthy essays. Andrew guided our son through this process, allowing him to present himself and his voice in his essays, pushing him to refine his writing to a high standard, and ultimately organizing himself to complete the applications on time. We felt that Andrew was as committed to our son and his success as we were. Our son was admitted outright at four schools, including his first and second choice, and was waitlisted at one.
Andrew continues to work with our son and will continue, at least, throughout his freshman year.

Andrew worked with our daughter on SSAT prep and we could not have been more pleased with the outcome. Our initial goal was to find someone to help with «nerves» and time management. With his warm manner and unfailing sense of humor, Andrew was perfect for this. However, we were also thrilled with our daughter’s test scores, which were so good on her first test we agreed a second test was unnecessary. We knew she had great potential, but truly believe she could not have achieved it fully without Andrew’s help. Although Andrew’s speciality is writing and language arts, our daughter also scored surprisingly well in the quantitative test sections. She looked forward to every tutoring session, and as happy as she is to have the test behind her she misses seeing Andrew. We would recommend him to anyone.
