Grind — Talk Story — Get Jag

History

Established in 2015.

Back in Hawaii in the early 80’s The Kealoha uncles would race Hobie Cats, they threw parties «pop ups» to pay for their supplies. They would go to the beach and throw a party, fire up the grill, ice down the beer, and get a band to play. They would charge a modest price with the intention to make enough money to allow them to do what they loved. They realized they needed a name for their ‘organization’ and the brothers who lived on Liholiho street decided to name it Liholiho Yacht Club. This is how the modern day LYC was born. We loved the name and the idea: to throw a party to allow you to keep doing what you love. Grind — Talk Story — Get Jag

Meet the Business Owner

Ravi Kealoha K.

Business Owner

Chef Ravi was born and raised on Oahu in Hawaii. He moved to San Francisco in 1998 to attend The California Culinary Academy. He has worked in many kitchens around the Bay Area and beyond including an 8 year stint at Boulevard working closely with Chef Nancy Oakes where he went on to open Prospect as the executive chef. He left restaurants all together in 2011 after his son Makoa was born. The pop-up: «Liholiho Yacht Club» was born in 2012 as a means to create delicious heritage driven food while still supporting his family and working towards his lifelong dream of having his own restaurant.

In 2014 Ravi joined forces with Jeff Hanak, an owner of Nopa and Nopalito and long time friend. Hanak is a native to SF and brings a solid and local foundation to the LYC team.

Together they strives to create a comfortable environment well balanced and enjoyable. Focusing on Kapur’s heritage driven food and Jeff’s keen attention to hospitality.
