Specialties

We are a group of therapists who have specialties in a wide variety of areas. We are very experienced and highly skilled and have expertise in both short-​term and long-​term psychotherapy and counseling. Some of our specialties include: anxiety reduction, self-​esteem issues, help with depression, adoption related issues, LGBTQ related issues and culturally competent services, family therapy, couples therapy, adolescent therapy, work related issues, issues related to breast cancer, disability and chronic illness, aging parents, self-​growth, EMDR, childhood sexual abuse, trauma, PTSD, ADD/​ADHD, parenting issues, grief and loss, chronic mental illness and addiction.

We also have many years of experience in providing excellent supervision, consultation and training to therapists and interns using a intersubjective, relational approach to therapy.

History

Established in 2007.

We are a group of colleagues who worked together for decades at Operation Concern/​New Leaf Services, a contract mental health agency for the City and County of San Francisco. After leaving that agency in 2007 we founded The Laurel Center so that we could continue to collaborate with one another, train new therapists, offer training to licensed therapists, and provide excellent psychotherapy and psychological services to the community.
