Land Rover At Roverland

I have a 1965 Land Rover Series IIA that sat, on jacks, in front of my house for 8 years. Since I was selling my house I had to move it off the property. I manage to change the fuel pump, change the oil, put in a new gas tank and battery and amazingly it started after few cranks. I knew I will drive it to Euroland (Roverland) to ask Phillipe to check it out. On the way there from Hayward, the clutch pedal began to stiffen up; eventually I could not depress it any longer. Called AAA and had it towed to Euroland. We got there near the end of day so Phillipe was nice enough to park my truck inside the shop to take a look the next day. Long story short, Phillipe called me the next day and told me he had fixed the problem; he had replaced the stuck cylinder and now I’m happily driving my old Land Rover whenever I feel I like it. Very happy!
BTW, there is a recent reviewer that gave Euroland (Roverland) a one star; I believe the reviewer posted the review on the wrong business. Euroland does not sell parts online nor over the phone as far as I know. There is a parts store with similar name to Roverland somewhere in the East Coast.

I recently purchased a 2004 Disco and wanted someone to go through it to make sure I didn’t have any major issues. This is how I found Roverland. I dropped by without an appointment chatted with Philippe. Jennifer called and emailed me the next day with what he found and the different options and prices (OEM vs. aftermarket). Instead of trying to sell me on everything Philippe told me what needs immediate attention and what could wait. They were very accommodating and responsive to calls/​emails. Jennifer and Philippe definitely made me feel valued as a customer and they have gained a lifelong customer!

They are one of the best repair shops I have ever took my cars to. I am so glad that I found them right after I moved from Hawaii. They are honest and very knowledgeable about Rovers. I did extensive research regarding the replacement air suspensions and shocks for my Range Rover and asked Phillip to use these replacement parts. Phillip was very open to my suggestions but he explained pros and cons of different options by actually showing me these parts and why one is better than the other. Their charges were reasonable compared to what I was used to at the Land Rover dealership in Hawaii. Thanks, Unilocal,and all their happy customers who posted their honest reviews!

Top notch, super friendly, honest, excellent service. I’ve been going to Roverland (now Euroland) for over 2 years since I bought my first LR. Phillipe and Jennifer and staff are so nice and friendly. I can’t recommend this business more. Fantastic!
It may sound odd, but I actually don’t mind when my LR needs service because it’s such a pleasure seeing them and have them do excellent work on my car.

I wanted to like these guys so much– I love Land Rover, and I have a Discovery and a RR. Unfortunately, this was my experience:
* Tried to call, but noone picked at around 10a, so I dropped by.
* Jennifer and Phillipe agreed to take the car even though they were swamped (that was really nice of them)
* Later at 2p that day, Jennifer called me and left a message to call her back…
* I called her back within 10 minutes, but there was no answer. The callback number was a fax machine.
* I called back every 15 minutes for the next 2 hours– went to voicemail every time.
* I left fax messages as well. I called a total of at least 30 times. I didn’t get a pickup and was worried the shop was closing so I drove down again to their shop (in Bayshore). Of course, I get a ticket on the way over (not their fault).
* When I get to the store, Phillipe was on the phone (yes, ironic). He very nicely told that he can’t give me the information about my car, and that I will have to wait for Jennifer to call me. That’s kind of weird because I thought he was the mechanic, but hey, as long as I can get the info I need… I pleaded for her cell phone number, but he says she is very reliable on the shop phone, and she just happened to leave early today. He says she will call me first thing at 8am the next day.
* The next day I wait until 10a. No call. Then I start calling. I called until noon. I left messages. I even faxed them again. Anything to avoid going down to Bayshore again.
* At noon (almost 24 hours after she left a message), I finally get a call back from Jennifer.
* I make a comment, «it’s been really frustrating trying to contact you. I called you all morning and Phillipe promised you would call me at 8a» Jennifer goes off on me. She says if you are going to attack me, we don’t want your business. She says they have been around 18 years, and she asks me «Do you want to keep attacking me about me not calling you or do you want to hear about your car?» Wow. It was literally one comment, after I had wasted hours trying to hear back about my car. A simple sorry would have fixed everything. I was the one who ended up apologizing… Not sure how that happened.
These guys might be great mechanics. But these days customers also expect great customer service that is respectful of their time. Yes, British Motor Car might charge more, but they always keep their appointments. They are incredibly courteous and responsible. And yes, they pick up the phone EVERY time you call. That saves you time, that saves you stress, and you don’t have to get berated by Jennifer :). I think that is worth the price. I love independent stores, but If you want to vote for good customer service, go to British Motor Car instead… Unfortunately, this is like the neighborhood café with great coffee but cranky servers– sadly, sometimes starbucks is better…

Whew! I was lucky enough to find this place while on a road trip. Serviced 03 discovery before I left LA. Drive shaft took a crap on me in SF. Limped the rover over to Philip n Jennifer. They got me back on the road with a new driveshaft and a few other little fixes. It was done in about 24 hours. I just wanted to hang out in their shop. Lots of cool rovers.
Price was fair for the amount of work done in a short amount of time. And there is a train (BART) right on there street. It’s the T line.

Have had my D90 for about 10 years. Had it serviced at LR dealerships on the Peninsula and in Marin… always the same results: $$$$ and, «you need a new…» (whatever it was, they’d always quote it out at $ 1500).
Enter Phillippe and Jennifer 4 years ago… always 100% on my side (how often can you EVER say that about a mechanic shop?). These guys are straight shooters, work to get you the best balance between saving money and doing what should be done with the car, and go above and beyond the call.EVERY.SINGLE.TIME. In fact, Philippe found that most of the stuff the Marin Land Rover dealership said I needed was not needed. That was 4 years ago, and TO THIS DAY he hasn’t had to do what they were telling me was «required in order to keep the car running».
I don’t trust my D90 to anyone else.

We have been coming to Roverland since June of last year and can 100% vouch for Phillipe and Jennifer in their professionalism and knowledge of Range Rovers. We have a ’96 RR we call «Dover» and always take care to pay attention to any problems. We encountered a lock problem when we first purchased Dover and upon taking him in to Phillipe, everything was taken care of and we no longer worry about getting locked out of our car randomly (as was first the case when we purchased him –second hand). All in all, Roverland is very dependable and fair with their pricing. They have even given us tips and lists of future expected issues to look out for with Dover which we truly appreciate. Don’t even hesitate… They’re worth the call!

Purchased a D90 from Michigan only to find out when it showed up in CA that it wouldn’t pass smog for a whole slew of reasons. Philippe inspected the car and fixed all of the problems for a price much cheaper than any other place I called. I needed a new ABS speed sensor, which run $ 500 new and he was able to find me a refurbished one, saving me a ton of money. He put together a list of repairs I would need to take care of in the future and was very honest about how serious they were and how long I had before I should fix them. Best mechanic in town, I won’t be trusting my defender to anybody else.

Called land rover SF to get a quote for transmission issue, got a quote $ 180 per hour. When I asked how long would it take, reply was how ever long it takes. Basically I was asked to sign a check and hand it over to them.
Had 2 other mechanics look at the issue with no results.
Called Roverland, Philippe gave me a quote for the diagnostics (yes a set number) and found the issue with in a day. Part arrived with in a day and I had my discovery back before and of the week.
If you own a land rover and like quality service without empting your bank account, consider Roverland.

I wish I could think of an original way to discribe how great this place is, but it’s all been said. Philippe, Jennifer and their staff are the absolute best.
I took my «new to me» Discovery to them because of the glowing reviews on this site. It’s all true and then some. Philippe sorted out the problems, communicated them to me along with his recommendations on what needs immediate attention and what could wait and then went to work. They are honest, friendly, fair price and just plain good people.
If you own a Land Rover and take it anywhere other than Roverland you are making a big mistake. Don’t believe me? Keep reading!

If you don’t want to get your rover fixed right away, go here. Awful, unprofessional and complete waste of time. I had an appointment to have a simple hose replacement in order to pass smog inspection. I drove from downtown SF to their shop which is located in a very poor location. Upon arrival, Philippe informed me they were too busy and were also closed the following day. Why make an appointment with a customer if you cannot keep it? I asked to buy the part so I could replace it myself and he said no, go to the dealership. I had taken a day off work and arranged childcare in order to get my car fixed. I did, however, buy the part and fixed it myself saving over $ 150 compared to what he was charging.

I took my 05 Rover to Roverland this summer for my 60K service. They were 30−40% cheaper than the dealer (no hack on the dealer, BMC is GREAT but just too expensive in today’s environment). Philippe and his team did a great job — they told me what they did, what may require future work and let me decide with no pressure whatsoever if I wanted to proceed.
Kudos to those guys! I give 4 stars because they are awesome. For 5 stars Philippe would have to serve fresh hot croissants that take me back to Paris.
Coincidentally I’m writing this review at a Vietnamese coffee shop down the street from Roverland which serves great coffee and donuts! (needed to take my car in for a quick diagnostic check which they accommodated).

If you own a Land Rover in San Francisco, you have to bring it to Jennifer and Philippe. They are super friendly, knowledgeable and fair. If you own one, you know they are quirky so it’s nice to have a mechanic that understands all the ups and downs of Land Rover ownership. With all the big dealerships and unpersonalized service out there, it’s nice to have a place like Roverland in the area.

This place is awesome. The only star-​loss is b/​c of location… it’s relatively inconvenient as compared to the centrality of British Motor Cars. If you can get past the inconvenience, and you have a LR that you care anything about, you need to come to Philippe. He KNOWS Rovers inside and out, was willing to listen to my concerns, was prompt with calling me with updates, and is super nice. Don’t be scared off by the clutter… this place is legit. I was drooling over the D90’s…it made me miss mine. It is a bit pricey, but they’re Rovers, so you knew that when you bought one. I proudly represent for Philippe with my green Roverland license plate frame.

Finally a certified Land Rover repair station that won’t take you for everything you’re worth.
My car aparently fixed itself on the morning I was going to take it in. They didn’t try to make up a fake problem. Not only that, but they told me that if the problem ever resurfaced they would deduct the diagnostic fees towards any future charges.
All in all a great and pleasent land rover experience in the bay area.

Roverland is a great place to bring your European SUVs for maintenance. They recently expanded their services from strictly Land/​Range Rovers to Mercedes, BMW, & Porsche. We brought both our Mercedes and Porsche SUVs into get brakes replaced and serviced. Philippe, the owner, has a wealth of knowledge on European SUVs and his quality of care is unsurpassed. He and his team are quick and efficient, we got our cars back when promised and saved ourselves a ton of money coming to Roverland as opposed to the dealerships. Jennifer, his wife, is the sweetest person and a joy to work with. We will definitely bring our cars back to Roverland to support this local business and will tell all of our friends to as well. They also work on Mini Coopers!

My husband just loves the service he gets here from Philippe and Jennifer. Philippe cares for all the Land/​Range Rovers that come through here as if they were his babies. He is so knowledgeable about these peculiarly sensitive SUVs! You definitely get more than what you pay for when you bring your Land Rover to get serviced here. Highly recommended!

Get your Rover fixed the right way. Philippe is a former RRNA/​LRNA mechanic and has been keeping Bay Area Land Rovers running out of his independent shop now located in 2520 Bayshore in San Francisco. As simple as these vehicles may seem they are actually quite complex and can be easily mis-​diagnosed by a non-​specialist. Unlike the dealer, he will suggest aftermarket or even refurbished parts that he trusts. When we had a ten year old Range Rover, Phillipe helped manage a laundry list of repairs to prioritize rather than tell me I needed everything repaired. Check out his wife’s Defender 110 that’s usually parked out front. The back seats have three car seats for his triplets with a back compartment filled with strollers! Land Rover repairs are never cheap but I highly value Phillipe’s expertise and love knowing I’m supporting a local family owned business.
