Laguna Honda Reservoir

I love this area, it’s so peaceful and gives you a little taste of what San Francisco may have felt like before it was urbanized.
I was pleasantly surprised today when I looked down into the water and saw 4′+ Koi fish swimming around. They’re huge!

Neat little lake/​pond/​reservoir tucked away at the end of 7^th Avenue.
This is a peaceful little slice of nature in the middle of the city, but it’s a bummer that there is no trail access around the reservoir. This would provide a not only be a nice walking trail, but also a great shortcut from Claredon to 7^th.
Oh well.

Beautiful place… but not accessible. Still, it’s lovely walking up beside it on Clarendon Avenue where you can look into it. The neighbors are working to prevent the PUC from establishing a gravel yard on the Clarendon Avenue side of it.

This is almost an out of body experience when you come upon it. Take 7^th from the inner sunset south past Lawton. All of a sudden you pass it… it is just a breathtaking bolt of scenic lightining into the cityscape. And I sometimes head by it on my way to the 280 just to pass through there.
Quite a nice spot that adds a lot to the city. I guess it is still a Unilocal secret!

Certainly one of the most scenic spots in San Francisco, even considering the fact that the lake is totally closed off to any and all recreation. Yeah, yeah, I know, it’s our drinking water, gotta keep it clean, but… it just sits there taunting you with the image of a gorgeous park, so close and yet so far. Why can’t there at least be a sidewalk along the east side of LH Boulevard so we can admire the view? And while we’re at it, how about getting rid of cars in San Francisco and turning the road here into a nice, quiet electric trolley line? Hey, a guy can dream.
