And by 5-stars I mean 50-stars. That $hit is gooood.

Their pastrami is amazing! Quite possibly the best I’ve ever had.

I LOVE pastrami and whenever i see a deli or place that makes a good pastrami sandwich I’m all about it. So it takes A LOT for me to really dislike a place, but man this topped it. Not only was this truck ridiculously priced(really, $ 10 for a pastrami sandwich?!) but it was SO slow, and ridiculously greasy. We ordered the pastrami melt and quesadilla. Couldn’t even finish our food — the quesadilla was soaked in grease and the macaroni salad that came with our sandwich tasted like pure mayo and seemed like it was store bought. Gross.

I was excited to try their pastrami sandwich. Unfortunately, it did not left me satisfied. First of all, I don’t think I should have to wait a long time for a sandwich. Second of all I did not expect to have a large piece of bristle/fat in the sandwich which is in edible. I know the food trucks need to make money but charging $ 10 for something that is not satisfying makes me an unhappy camper. There was not a lot of pastrami in the sandwich at all. The bread was good but that’s it. The fries that came with the sandwich looked like dirty potatoes. I guess this was a lesson well learned for me and my friend.

I love pastrami, so why wouldn’t I love this truck. Tried this truck at SOMA street food and I was turned into an instant fan. My friend and I splurged at this location by getting a sandwich, quesadilla, and pastrami fries, we can’t go completely wrong, it is pastrami. So 2⁄3 were good, The original sandwich was a little bit of a miss and overpriced because it was good but not memorable, it needed more fillers than just the meat and bread. The quesadilla pastrami was delicious, warm and crisp outside, with melted cheese and pastrami on the inside, add some mexican hot sauce and you have a perfect combination. The same can be said about the pastrami fries minus the cheese, both priced reasonably. I can’t complain about the service much like other reviews as I got my food in a reasonable amount of time.

Very simple menu. I’ve only tried the pastrami fries, and they were delicious! Nicely seasoned fries topped with cheese, pastrami and green onions. The truck is a little slow, as most food trucks are. Guy working in the truck was really nice.

The fries were incredible. Pastrami on top was even more incredible. When I first ordered, I didn’t realize that you could just get plain fries, so I asked for fries thinking they would automatically come with the pastrami. When they didn’t, and the guy had no exact change for my extra $, he simply gave me the pastrami for free. Such great customer service, and amazingly delicious unique taste mashups.

Whenever I travel to Europe, the second I get back I crave something spicy like Korean, Indian, or Mexican. Ideally I would get some masala covered kalbi wrapped in a tortilla but hey, we can’t always get what we want. Having just literally landed from India, I felt the strangely opposite need to have something American, like a burger, or better yet, something from the StrEatFoodPark. Gotta love the StreatFoodPark for it’s variety and venue and on this occasion, La Pastrami was present. If you know anything about me it’s that I will pay quite a bit to eat good food and I rarely bitch about price when it comes to my reviews. But… Isn’t the value of having a food truck so that you can serve good food cheaply without the overhead of real estate? Trust me, I am no stranger to the $ 10 sandwich but for that price, I am expecting to get a sizable chunk of meat and/or meat by-products. La Pastrami’s «California» sandwich is a traditional pastrami melt but on sourdough. While good, the amount of meat in the sandwich was a complete joke. The best part of the sandwich were the salt and pepper fries. So yeah, they’re slow and expensive. It might be worth it if they doubled the meat. But as it is today, not worth it. Go elsewhere or grab something from one of the other trucks there. Ration.

I do love pastrami, so La Pastrami(pastrami food truck) caught my eye. La Pastrami’s menu consisted of full size($ 10, comes with fries) and mini($ 5) pastrami sandwiches, pastrami fries and pastrami tacos. The fusion of Mexican and pastrami is quite common in LA. * Mini onion munch($ 5): Thinly sliced hot pastrami, grilled sweet onions, melted swiss cheese on a pillowy soft white bun. The sandwich was warm, soft, and comforting. The pastrami had a good smokiness to it and was a bit salty. Some edges were crispy. The bun was really good. However, the sandwich was rather plain… some kind of sauce would improve it. Also, it was the size of a Mc Donald’s kid’s burger(with more meat though). I’m not expecting a full meal for $ 5 but you can get a huge, tasty sandwich many places for $ 7-$ 8.

I like pastrami, and I think pastrami is pretty awesome. I haven’t tried everything here, but I am addicted to the Pastrami Fries, all the items on the menu are good, and all contain pastrami. It’s a really specialized food truck and so you can’t get tons of types of food, but it really is all pastrami, and it’s good. 1. You can pay with level up 2. Super friendly staff 3. Amazing pastrami fries 4. I go here when I’m at the SoMaStreatFood truck place, and there is always a line. 5. I think it’s good overall. I see a log of complaints on here. but it’s good pastrami I think. I would love to see more items on the menu, but before you judge it try the pastrami fries. I mean I really just have to give it four stars because it’s a cool food truck and the pastrami fries are good. For me, la pastrami hits the spot

Pastrami sando was just okay, a little salty, no wow factor. I think my favorite is still sub center in West Portal.

La Pastrami offers the worst pastrami sandwich in the bay area — and, quite possibly, on the west and east coast. Their pastrami isn’t pastrami; the texture and flavor are more akin to deli meat ham found in Safeway. It’s god-awful in every way imaginable, from the icky pickles to the prosaic mustard to the pedantic bun to the questionable pastrami. Please stay away from La Pastrami. You’ll end up with a belly-full of disappointment and regret.

Ever encounter a mysterious traffic backup where the only logical causes, either a rubberneck-inducing accident or purposelessly weaving highway patrolman, are nowhere to be found? Or have been the sole waiting room occupant at the dentist’s office for nearly an hour when the previous prisoner… er…patient merrily dashed away long ago? The inexplicable delay between order and chow at La Pastrami falls somewhere in between. With a mere handful of customers ahead, the pastrami fries’s arrival time lingers well past the estimated 10 minutes into the foot-tapping, shoulder-squirming 30 minute range. Wild calculations of the necessary time to buy a saber, hunt a boar, cure some meat, and find laborers to harvest potatoes begin to populate thoughts. The stout, crispy fries are delightfully topped with an entire shrub of green onions and plentiful pastrami shreds, and ultimately, a satisfying complement to a food truck meal. Will be back when in the mood for pretty good fries with unexpected wait times!

La Pastrami sells pastrami in various forms: tacos, burrito, hoagie, quesadilla, torta, shakes(nope, made this one up). locale: soma street eats(6⁄24) eats: pastrimi sandwich in soft hoagie bun with salt/pepper fries(9) –fries very tasty –pastrami just mustard and pickle, lots of pastrami shavings, kind of salty, –pastrami seem average, only salt taste, not much else. crumbs: –la pastrami was a bit slow to open –took 10 minutes for food to appear. –wouldn’t repeat, pastrami average, doubt it’s homemade.

I really hate giving not good reviews and I only do it when there are obvious solutions to the problems described. I am seeing the same complaint in all these reviews: Too slow! In this case the truck at the new Street Food Park just needs to get it together. Look I have done my time in food service and the rule here is: «Rock and Roll!» That means get your asses in gear and crank out the goods. It’s really as simple as that. I was there today for the first time at 2 O’Clock and there was no lunch crowd to speak, maybe two guys ahead of me but it still took 10 minutes to put out one Pastrami on a roll. Having said that, the Pastrami is very good and so were the Salt & Pepper Fries and aside from the wait the only thing keeping this sandwich from near-perfection was the crappy Costco hoagie roll. A sandwich is a simple thing and the difference between mediocre and sublime is in the details. Get a better roll and speed things up and you guys will have a winner.

15 people in line 40 minute wait to order 20 minutes later when I went to inquire about my food I was told they didn’t have our order Understaffed & unprepared for the volumes of patrons at the Soma StrEat Park Bread was soggy & fell apart at the touch. Cold limp fries.

I ate here with some friends at the opening of the SOMA Street Food Park. The service was super slow — we all waited at least 15 minutes per sandwich if not 20. Their most important ingredient, the pastrami, was average at best(my friend said it tasted like hot dog). The buns were average, the pickles were lame. The only plus is that at $ 9 the sandwich comes with fries. But the fries are average at best. There are a million awesome food trucks in San Francisco. Avoid this one.

Smokin’. Possibly my first pastrami sandwich ever. Love that it came from a super nice lady inside a truck. She seemed proud of her creation. With good reason. Won’t be my last. Not something I’ll make a habit of but when they are as good as these exceptions are to be made. Packed with flavorful cured then smoked beef. Almost enough for two sandwiches. Comes on a roll with mustard and pickle. Nothing else needed. Quickly devoured. Fries on the side. Ask to go without and you might get a few bills taken off. Invest in a tip instead. They deserve it.

Got in early on the soft opening of SOMA Streat Food and the first truck I hit was La Pastrami because the latest Tony Bourdain showed him loving the hell out of some tostadas in Ensenada, and at 2 for $ 5(word up 2 for 5s them niggaz got garbage down the way!) I had to find out for myself. Awesome. Fresh, warm, moist pastrami layered thick on a super-fresh crackling crispy salty corn tortilla and blanketed in crisp lettuce and cabbage with what tasted like a spicy chipoltle aoli. Bang on. The texture contrast of perfectly tender meat with the crack of the tortilla, and the way the two different salty tastes complemented each other was shocking. And best of all, the chef seemed genuinely pleased and humble when I told him just how good the tostadas were. Check em out for yourself. A five-dollar journey to the center of your mind awaits…

3.5 stars. At first impression the prices at this food truck seem high at $ 9 per sandwich, but the price includes fries. So it’s not too bad. The menu also has pastrami versions of tostada($ 3 each or 2 for $ 5), burrito($ 8), quesadilla($ 5 – 6), and pastrami fries for $ 5. I think that those items are popular in LA. I loved the fries, hot and crispy. The pastrami sandwich was only okay. Traditional beef navel cut meat is fatty, that doesn’t bother me. But the meat was a tad too salty. Perhaps they dipped the meat into the brine before assembling the sandwich(I’ve seen many places do that, to keep the meat moist), and overdid it. Because there was significant liquid in the bottom of my container also. I used some napkins to soak that and keep the bottom bread from becoming soggy. In SoMa, u can get much better pastrami sandwiches from nearby competitors like Jablow’s Meats pop-up at The Window, or AK Subs. This truck has potential, maybe they could be popular in neighborhoods without much pastrami competition. But the LA style food items are unique, nobody else has that. Might try that on a future visit. CASH only. Get location updates on Facebook or Twitter. Note: the Cole street address is a mailbox store to contact them for catering jobs, the food truck is not parked there.
