Kung Fu Tacos

OVERPRICED! Will not return! I ordered the shrimp taco which I thought would be a normal sized taco considering it was $ 4.36. When I received it, it was a minuscule taco the size of the Mexican tacos they sell at the taco trucks. I literally finished it in 2 bites! This was the quickest lunch ever! I’m a petite woman who watches her figure, so I try not to over indulge in my meals. I would need to eat at least 3 of these tacos to feel satisfied. 3 x $ 4.36 = $ 13.08. For that price, I can go have lunch at a nice restaurant with much better quality food. I now know why there was only one other customer in the restaurant for lunch. Definitely NOT worth the money!
You folks need to be more reasonable with your prices if you choose to stay in business and have returning customers! I will not be returning and I will not recommend this place.

Nice and Fun looking establishment. It looks and feels like a Chipotle. There were only 2 employees, which extended the wait time. I ordered the special «California Burrito». Big mistake. I enjoy french fries in my burger but definitely will never have them in a burrito again. The fries were so mushy to the point where I could only taste steak and this red/​white/​green mush. The steak had an interesting «asian» flavor though. If I were to go back, I would probably get a quesadilla or tacos.
I do not recommend the Cali Burrito.

I’ve seen a lot of fusion places in SF that try to combine different flavors, and this is just another example of a place that falls short. I like mexican/​tex-​mex food, and I like asian food, but putting them together just doesn’t work. The tofu was salty and didn’t go together with any of the mexican flavors. Altogether, a pretty disappointing experience.
I was told that the chicken is also not very good, but that the pork is decent. So if you are going to come here, try the pork

The place I think is a great concept, I was looking forward to some type of Asian Mexican fusion, and it is somewhat like that. However, the food was mediocre, but service was good. I would come back, but it wouldn’t be a place I would regular.

I ordered the Asada Steak and the Nun-​chuck Chicken. They have very interesting flavors. It can be awkward as your tasting chinese food as a taco. lol. It’s a little pricey, however, the experience was good. I highly recommend that people should give a a try!

Much Gusto Kung Fu Tacos. Everything from the grilled chicken to the mango salsa to the tofu to the rice to the carrot jalapeño sauce was very good. In the words of the wise Arnold Schwarzenegger, I will be back!

I’ve never had a newfangled fusion burrito that is better than the traditional Mexican one. Sometimes, the components of the burrito themselves are well cooked, but the burrito is assembled sloppily. Sometimes, the burrito structure inside and out is robust but the flavor lacks. Unfortunately, my chicken burrito from Kung Fu Tacos was a case of the latter, as the proportions of meat, salsa, beans, and rice were good but the components themselves did not really shine: the chicken was dry; I couldn’t figure out what kind of rice they used as it was brown in color with flecks of orange that could’ve been carrot, but simply tasted salty; the Asian salsa was the only thing that imparted some interesting flavor with cucumbers, onions, and a sweeter marinade, but couldn’t singularly save the meal. It is a smaller burrito and also pricey at $ 8.50, so altogether not a great deal.

I liked Kung Fu Tacos
For Lunch had an order of 3 Steak Tacos, that came with cilantro, and an Asian influenced sauce and salsa with just a slight touch of heat.
It was Yummy but needs to be eaten right away so that your Taco does not fall apart due to the wet ingredients ‚
This was a fusion of a traditional Taco and Moo Shu Pork, for me it was a win, and would happily get this again !

We finished the Color Run and were starving. There was a huge selection of food trucks to choose from, so we walked around and came across Kung Fu Tacos. How can you get better than Asian tacos?
Daughter ordered one steak and one chicken taco, which came with black beans and rice. I ordered a tofu taco and a veggie mu shu taco.
The presentation was beautiful! I have been to nice restaurants that didn’t plate as nicely! The food was delicious, hot, and filling. Wonderful flavors, with a fabulous blend of ingredients.

I tried Kung Fu tacos for the first time at the Fort Mason Off the Grid. TERRIBLE! I tried both the chicken and the steak. I thought a long line might somehow correlate to good food. Nope.
I’m not sure what’s worse… the fact that they were served cold or that they were bland all but for the cilantro… or that I waited in an incredibly long line to be served cold and bland tacos.
Also, mine looked nothing like the photos other users have posted. Rather than give smaller than usual portions, they should have just fessed up and said they were «sold out.»

I remember Kung Fu Tacos from Off the Grid so I was pretty stoked when I heard they would be parked at my campus.
Service was nice. Pretty quick too.
I ordered a Nun Chuk Chicken burrito ($ 8) so I could save half for later. Burrito is decently sized and has good flavor. Meat is not consistent in the way that I don’t get a piece in every bite but once I actually get a bite, I’m satisfied. Slightly sweet but savory. Very Asian fusion.
They were not selling Oui Oui Macarons at the time which I was a little sad about but I was promised macarons for next time.
Will come back. The chicken salad sounds interesting.

I karate chopped a duck taco while visiting the Upper Haight Off The Grid (
). This unique fusion of Chinese and Mexican was a perfect punctuation mark to a great food truck experience.
The meat was flavorful, and packed a wallop of taste. It was nice to have a street taco with a filling which was unique and yummy.
I actually felt cooler after eating this taco.

Off the Grid– Fort Mason Center
Roast Duck– Their signature taco with hoisin sauce, mango salsa, and green onion. The taco tasted bland to me. I think the ingredients don’t stand up against the 2 corn tortillas. At $ 3.50 it’s expensive for the small taco.

Oh no, not another Food Truck you say? Kung Fu Tacos is actually pretty good. I came by to Off The Grid Upper Haight to give their Fusion Tacos a try.
My friend and I ordered 3 of their Specialty Tacos (
):
2x Roast Duck Tacos ($ 3) — Crispy Skinned Roast Duck Served in a rolled Chinese Pancake with Green Onion and Hoisin Sauce.
1x Wu Shu Char Sui Taco ($ 3) — Glazed BBQ Pork dressed with house secret Siracha Sauce topped with Mango Salsa and Green Papaya.
I guess the most disappointing thing was that the Roast Duck Tacos were in regular tortillas and not Chinese pancakes. They were still good though and the BBQ Pork taco was even better. I think the best way to describe their taste is to think of the buns from Chairman Bao but in Taco form. If you’ve had those before, they’re pretty similar in flavor.
I’ll have to stop over at OTG again to try their other tacos. Their prices aren’t too bad and their Fusion Tacos are very interesting in both taste and presentation.

I was excited to try Asian taco’s at Off the Grid! I shared a bunch of different flavors among three other friends, so we got to try the duck, roast pork, and chicken.
My favorite was the duck. The chicken was a little dry/​bland. I also liked the mango-​salsa topped on one of the tacos. :)

Tacos very fresh, great balance of soft yet firm texture to it. Not blown away by anything, though everything was pretty good. Also the tacos just look great, especially when you get a big plate with a ton of them (we only came because we asked a some guy where he got the delicious-​looking tacos he was holding).
Nun Chuk Chicken (grilled chicken marinated in a garlic ginger sauce, garnished with cilantro, carrot, and topped with our homemade spicy asian salsa)
— Way too much shaved carrot on top, which overpowered everything. The chicken itself was good & fairly tender but there just wasn’t enough of it.
Wu Shu Char Sui (glazed BBQ pork dressed with a secret siracha sauce and topped with mango salsa and green papaya)
— Mango/​papaya interesting combo with pork.
Roast Duck (seasoned duck served with hosin sauce and topped with mango salsa and strips of green onion)
— Great fatty duck, very tender meat.

After an a fun chihuahua costume contest in Dolores Park, I set my sights on the line of food trucks along Dolores, specifically Toasty Melts and Kung Fu Tacos. Unfortunately I waited too long and the grilled cheeses were all sold out so instead my friend and I opted for a few tacos.
We tried the asada, wushu chicken, and the BBQ duck. Of the three, I actually preferred the cheaper two (non-​duck) and it probably had something to do with the sriracha sauce. Putting that on anything makes it so much better! The pineapple didn’t compliment the duck in my opinion, and it wasn’t all that surprising that it was the only one that didn’t sell out.
The entire truck is run by this super cute family all working together. They turn around the tacos pretty quickly and, although the line was long, I was in and out of there in about 5 – 7 minutes. I’d definitely recommend any taco with the rooster sauce so stick with those and you won’t be disappointed. Since they’re outside, they welcome your pets in line too!

Okay, I’ll admit it. I was amongst the skeptics when Kung Fu Tacos first came out. Another fusion taco scheme?! If it wasn’t for Peter’s UYE @Candybar I would’ve never known what I was missing.
Roast Duck Taco ($ 3) — Had to try the Unilocalers favorite. Now my favorite as well. Tasty duck meat with the perfect amount of hoisin sauce. The mango salsa added a nice crunch and sweetness to the whole thing. Yum!
Asian Asada Taco ($ 2) — Seasoned steak with homemade Asian salsa. While the taco had a generous amount of tender meat, the seasoning and salsa were overpowering. It needed extra ingredients to balance the heavy flavors and add texture to the taco. But still good!
Overall, a tasty experience. Glad I was proven wrong. =)

In case u haven’t heard yet, the KF taco truck is moving to a small parking lot near Montgomery and Sacramento. Yay! FiDi office workers should be pleased for the more convenient location come Monday.
Also happy about the recent addition of dessert empanadas (dulce de leche) made by El Porteno — check their booth at the Metreon’s farmers market if u want to try any of their savory empanadas.
