Kids on Camera established in 1981, is an award winning TV/​Film acting and audition training for ages 4 – 18 in San Francisco, Marin, and the East Bay. We improve communication skills and build confidence. We empower children and make learning fun! Video feedback reinforces the student’s self-​image.

Shy youngsters open up; Gifted children find an outlet for their creative energy! Parents participate to share in their child’s progress.

Weekend series, one-​day workshops are offered year round. Summer weeklong day camps are featured throughout the Bay Area. Talent showcases are provided for those seeking talent agents. We trained the voice of Andy in Toy Story, Bridgit Mendler who is Teddy on Disney’s Good Luck Charlie, voiceovers for Leapfrog Toys, an emmy winner and actors on Nickelodeon

History

Established in 1981.

Kids on Camera received the Santa Clara County Psychological Association Award for our «Significant Contribution to Mental Health» in recognition of our «Dedication to the Well Being of Children» in 1989. We enroll over 800 kids per year. We have been featured on TV on KGO, KRON, and KPIX. KGO reporter, Michael Finney, featured us in 1998 and said we were the right place to go as we are honest and have a skilled staff. We have an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau.

Judy B.

Business Owner

Director and founder of Kids on Camera since 1981, Judy is a credentialed teacher in Theatre Arts/​Communications, a professional voiceover, vocalist, and casting director. With a B.A. from Michigan State U, and graduate work in film at SF State U, Judy has taught for over 30 years in Chicago, Detroit, Marin, San Francisco, and Canada. KGO TV consumer reporter, Michael Finney, featured Kids on Camera in 1989 and spoke of Judy’s high quality program when he said: Kids on Camera was the right place to go. Judy was acasting director for Harcourt Brace Jovanovich Films for 7 yrs. Her other casting credits include Disney and Nickelodeon. Judy was a voiceover on Sesame Street for 12 years and is a member of the professional performing unions: SAG/​AFTRA. Judy has taught children with learning differences (eg: dyslexia), at the Developmental Resource Ctr, in Florida and the Charles Armstrong School, in Belmont, CA.

«Kids on Camera» is simply WONDERFUL! Judy Berlin really knows show business and is well connected! My teenager took the acting series of courses and after completion signed on immediately with a top agency! My daughter absolutely LOVED the FUN courses taught by Judy’s team of professionals who really know their stuff! There is nobody like Kids on Camera in the Bay Area. We are fortunate to have such a resource right here in our backyard!

My 6 year old has been attending Kids on Camera since he was 4, he absolutely loves it. Though not our original goal, he was recently signed with a reputable talent agency who saw his pictures and videos that were sent by Judy Berlin, the woman who runs Kids on Camera. Judy loves what she does and really cares about the kids. She has a talented staff who know the business and are very kid friendly when working with children. The class is aimed both at children who like being the center of attention and those who could use a bit of confidence coming out of their shells. In addition to filming «commercials,» they play theater games and develop a nice rapport with one another. When we first went to the information session, I was concerned that the pitch was just aimed at trying to promote their business, but realized as a small business this is their best way to make themselves known. I suppose every company does in one way or another and the proof is in the pudding because my son enjoys it so.

With all of the opportunities available for self-​improvement these days, there’s absolutely no reason for grown-​ups to be petrified speaking in front of groups of any size. Then again, had they gone to Kids On Camera, it may not have been an issue.
While majority of the children and youth will be working actors/​models, the seasoned team teaches the important aspects of presentation, acting, projection and self-​confidence development. This is especially wonderful during that transition into tween and even adulthood, but there are programs from 4yrs through high school.
Judy Berlin and her team — teachers who are professional actors and guest teachers who are exceptionally respected in their industry specialties — keep the children engaged and inspired.

We found Kids on Camera quite by accident. We looked up reviews for JRP and were this close to writing them a big check, when one of their very negative reviews said to try someone else who is genuine and really cared about the kids… Judy Berlin’s Kids On Camera. It so happened that they were starting an introductory series (TV-​1) the next month and it was close to our house (classes currently held at the JCC in San Francisco). Alexa started and loved it from day one. She’s gone on to take TV-​2 and TV-​4 along with a few one day workshops. All her teachers have been wonderful and really took time to get to know the kids. She’s made many good friends there and is just starting to look into taking her talents to the next level «in the business.» They do help the kids connect with agents and work opportunities. Alexa’s not looking to be the next Disney star (although Judy has one of her former students as a lead in «Good Luck Charlie») she’s much more confident and I’m certain all that she has learned will help her with her high school theater auditions (her first love).

This is the real deal. My daughter went for three seasons. Then Kids-​On-​Camera had a showcase. And real agents came out, and my daughter got signed to an agency the next week! A few months later, my daughter is already getting work doing commercials, and totally having a great time. And she is properly trained and knows exactly how to behave in professional situations. So worth it. And I’m still in awe.
