I cannot say enough wonderful things about Kerley Construction. They are a family owned company and are honest, hard-​working individuals whom you can trust to give you their expertise and recommendations.
After purchasing our home, we hired Kerley Construction to redo two of the rooms. We couldn’t be more pleased in their handling of the project from beginning to end. Our house looks beautiful and the project was completed quickly. I don’t have an eye for design and they definitely did! They were able to recommend finishes that made our house look high end (even when it’s not).
I am surprised by some of the low reviews on their Unilocal page but it sounds as though the individuals who have posted low reviews did not actually hire Kerley Construction but lived in a building affected by construction. As many people know, getting a building project completed in San Francisco is a living miracle as even small permits can be a nightmare to acquire and incredibly time consuming. I am glad that we hired a company like Kerley Construction who knows the in’s and out’s of the city bureaucracy and was able to navigate the system for us.

I live in a building that Kerley Construction is currently working on. Friendly? Yes. Competent? Not really. Our building is having structural repair to the front side, as well as being repainted. At first, they would show up every day with a small crew and do work. A year and a half later, we are still wrapped in scaffolding, plastic, and unfinished work. There is work occurring maybe 2 out of seven days a week, and with a meager workforce when it does. Also, the company has work permits active all over the city, so I am concluding they put this building on the back burner of priorities. I have witnessed 6 – 7 high rise building started and finished in the time it has taken them to … well, do nothing, to our building. I can understand the need to wait on subcontractors etc… but for months at a time the effort to finish our building is almost un noticeable, simple things being left unfinished through out the interior, and total deprivation of tenant access to windows due to the scaffolding. AVOID them, they are slow and will make your project a last priority if the circumstances fits their needs.

I agree with the other opinions here that the folks at Kerley are a friendly bunch. However, in this business, quality of service delivery also includes timeliness and that’s something Kerley is lacking big time. It takes them well over a year to finish a 6 month job and while some delay is forgivable when there are unforeseen repairs that need to be made or when the quality of craftsmanship is high, it’s not forgivable when it’s because the workers rarely seem to show up. During many weeks over the course of their project at our building, they simply wouldn’t send anyone out on site. Had they sent workers out on a more regular schedule, they could cut the length of the work in half. However, sometimes, not a single thing was done for weeks only for Kerley to show up again for a few days and disappear once lagain. This makes for a whole lot of inconvenience and repeated extensions to the timeline. It also doesn’t help that no one ever seemed to have an estimate of when they would actually finish.

I love these guys. They are honest, hard working and very professional. I would trust them with any job, small or huge. The only drawback is that it’s hard to get an estimate from them — it takes a long time because they are usually working at a job site or down at DBI. If you have the time, and don’t mind spending a bit more for piece of mind, these are the guys for you.

We were lucky to have Pat Kerley lend a hand with some side work on our apartment. Hard working, dependable, and honest. Kerley construction is a well-​oiled family business who do a great job. They are my go to with any construction need.

Surprised that they don’t have any review on Unilocal yet. On the other hand, it doesn’t surprise me either, since they don’t do any advertisement for their business, all of their business came from referral. We were lucky someone referred them to us, the father & sons team did great job for our remodel project. They were professional, they did all necessary preparation to contain the dust which the contractor we fired didn’t do. They delivered everything they promised. They communicated to us on a daily base what they were going to do, showed us what they did by the end of the day. They were on the job site everyday, they were on schedule and on budget. We felt bad that we had to rush them at the end since we need to move in. — The two sons, Danny and Pat tried to accommodate our moving schedule by working after their long day at another project. — They worked from 6 PM to 11 PM to finish the final touch on our job, and they had to get up the next day for another project at 6 AM. This is what one can call accountable and trustworthy. They have character, they know their craft, they take great pride for what they do.
