Kelly-Moore Paints

It was my first time at this store and I was a bit overwhelmed with not knowing what to buy for my project. I was greeted by. (I believe his name was Rene Ramirez) who was extremely helpful and friendly. He answered all my questions (and trust me I had tons of questions) and overall very informative. He took his time to make sure that I understood the differences in some of the paints that I wanted to purchase and also helped me pick out the exact colors that I had in mind. I am extremely happy with my purchases. Absolutely loved the ambiance of the store, and everyone was really courteous! I will definitely be coming back for more supplies at this location!

Best paint store I’ve ever been to! The paint is a great quality, affordable and covers easily. The employees are great and very knowledgeable, especially Gloria. She is such a sweetheart and has the best smile! Every time I go there, everyone is so friendly and the store is so clean! It’s not the closest paint store to me but it’s definitely the one I’ll stick with.

This is going to sound like a weird statement, but I swear a visit to this paint store always leaves me feeling a little better about the world. I’ve been to this location a number of times and bought paint here twice. Every time I’m there the staff is super friendly and incredibly helpful. The first time (about a year ago) I bought a few gallons and they were so concerned about me hauling the cans home on my own, they actually offered to call me a cab. Today I bought 6 gallons for another project and was helped by Joseph, who was super patient with all of my questions and anxiety over picking the right colors and finishes. He took the time to make sure I understood what I was getting and what it would actually look like on my walls, never tried to up-​sell me on anything I didn’t need, and helped me get the best price for what I did need. I’m telling you, the customer service here tops that of most other businesses in any industry — you can tell this store is staffed by friendly people who genuinely want to help you. Thanks, guys!

I had previously visited the Kelly Moore store on South Van Ness during September 2015 in search of paint and supplies for a volunteer project and was thrilled when the Manager, Ricardo Sandoval, agreed to make a donation of everything for the project, for the volunteer group I’m associated with, the Bridgemen. So when I had another painting volunteer project, also through Bridgemen, this time for the Union Spring Baptist Church in the Lower Haight, Mr. Sandoval came through for me once again and got everything donated. FANTASTIC! I just picked everything up today and was helped wonderfully in that endeavor by the lovely Gloria Perez-​Gibbs, the Assistant Manager for the store, and fellow employee Mr. Kevin Navarro. Thank you so much to all of them at Kelly Moore for the great donation! I appreciate it, Bridgemen appreciates it, and Union Spring Baptist Church very much appreciates it. They are seeking to refurbish their church so as to encourage more congregants to come in and partake of all that the church has to offer, including the appointment of a new Pastor in the form of the honorable Versil Milton, who will be officially installed as Pastor at Union Spring as of January 24, 2016 in a special induction ceremony.

Very good service generally. Quality of paint and materials is probably a B+, but the employees here are an A-.
As good as you will find in the heart of SF.

Before I could walk into the store the manger came outside to tell me I can’t park I the private lot. I was planning to go into the store to choose paint for our nursery. There is a Benjamin Moore store closer to home but this store was on my way to another errand today. Paint brand is not that important. Customer service is important to me. I will take my business elsewhere.

I have been getting my house ready for sale and have visited this store numerous times over the last month. The color matches are always way off resulting in having to drive back to the store and get it corrected. This last time was the last straw, i just didnt have the energy and since it is for a wall that I wont see, only the neighbor i let it go. the quality and service might be good here but the complete lack of color matching is a waste of time. Even home depot has better matching and we are talking matching the swatches!!!

Service here is exceptional. The people who work here are very knowledgeable and helpful. The only thing is that each time I’ve gone in to get paint samples, they are running low. It’s very difficult to decide what paint color you want to purchase without the ability to bring paint samples home.

Oh my, we were just amazed at how great the the service we received was!
We walked in with a shopping list and handful of questions, and we were in and out super-​quick with the most gracious service we’ve received from any retail store in months.
They were also very reasonably priced, and gave us a ton of painting sticks and a tool to pry off a sticky paint can lid for free! And on a Sunday to boot.
Very calm Zen-​like environment in this paint store, which was appropriate for a Sunday :) We’ll definitely be back for all our painting needs.

Helpful employees but the paint I got is waaaay off from the swatches I chose, and my money and time is down the drain since it’s non-​returnable.

A new trainee and a will call coordinator running the store.
Walk in and grab a number… Or in this case it doesn’t matter. They don’t use the number system. Why have one then?!
The wait for assistance takes forever. Both employees are in the back, pretending like they are mixing and making paints while they have an eye on everyone who is patiently waiting to be helped.
Finally, it’s my turn! I asked a few questions and he just muttered some answers. Thanks for nothing!
I’m looking for a paint to cover the side of the house that isn’t exposed to the public… So I really just want anything… But. I couldn’t get the help I needed here. To sherwin williams down the street I go!
Please. Take your business elsewhere, or at least another location.

I was helped by Marvin Flores at the Van Ness Kelly Moore and was impressed with the level of attention he gave me. I needed advice about a deck cleaner and stain/​sealer and he took time making sure I got what I really needed. Also, I’m an older person and he very helpfully walked the heavy cans out to my car for me. Marvin is knowledgeable, personable and courteous. My deck refurbishing came out great!

Customer service was spectacular, thanks Nicky! I walked in and walked right out.

I am a designer and that means getting color right is in my blood.
Marvin Flores knows his sh*t. And I really respect that. He was extremely knowledgeable and mixed the right color from my own custom color chip. Precision is a beautiful thing.
I came in with wood that I had already pre-​stained with a water-​based stain that didn’t do the job. Marvin provided me with the right information to properly re-​stain my wood. Not only was he full of relevant information, he’s a really cool guy to talk to. I seldom write reviews, but I do when I am compelled by great customer service. And if you ever get a chance to work with him, telling him «Crumbling Fiction» sent you over.
Thanks Marvin. I’ll be back someday.

They have a good selection of paint and tools here and the staff is really helpful. They really know their stuff and were able to give me some fantastic advice for my project.

I haven’t tried their paint, but I was in there looking at colors today and their service was top-​notch. The gentleman helping me got down on his hands and knees to search for pamphlets and paint chips that had the color I was looking for and when he couldn’t find what we needed, his manager, Gloria went above and beyond the call of duty to send me home with every sample they have. It far exceeded my expectations and this kind of consideration is rare, so I just wanted to say thank you to both of them here.

Colorful possibilities.
Swatches. Coats. Swipes. Primer. Chips.
Vocabulary was way out of my league. I just wanted a color that would open the space, have personality without dominating the room and accent the white trim.
After many questions answered and samples given by the patient, friendly and professional team at Kelly-​Moore I had what I was looking for.
Snip of Tannin was a great choice. Kelly-​Moore was too.

I was there a couple weekends ago, got some nice paint, called dura poxy. Henry explained the product to me and informed me that as a primer I needed to use a thinned layer of the dura poxy paint itself, that was a great help. The store was clean and the other employees were very inviting. They even had free coffee, and a ton of parking, which is a major bonus up in the city. Thanks Kelly Moore, your products are excellent! I will be recommending this location to anyone who asks.
