History

Established in 1990.

When I moved to San Francisco I wanted to do work in the world that was meaningful. I began meditating and was led to massage school. I have been practicing ever since. Over the past 25 years my yearning for growth has taken me into many modalities of bodywork, spirituality, somatic psychology, coaching and creativity. I’m a co-​creator and so are you. I build community, hope and dreams. I am a master manifestor and you can be too. My intention is to empower you so you will have a more fulfilling, abundant, fun life. And the good news is that we’ll have fun along the way.

I’m a connector. That means I’m spiritual, I’m lovingly compassionate and deeply insightful. I build bridges — between you, what you see on the outside — and who you really are. I also help create bridges to better relationships and to understanding yourself better.

My Perspective: Love is always the answer. I believe everything is connected, that we all have a connection to Spirit. Whether we recognize it or not, it’s there. We create our own life whether we’re conscious of it or not. Life is supposed to be fun, so why not make life fun! Being true to ourselves is the most important part of the journey and that includes expressing ourselves. Our bodies speak to us but we’re often not listening.

Kathy Jacobson is the best couples coach I have ever been to. My husband and I began seeing her when our marriage was in crisis… actually close to crumbling. In 6 weeks she helped us turn it around to a point we could really focus on the real issues. I honestly did not think it was possible to fix what was broken in our marriage but I was wrong.
In Kathy’s capable hands she guided our marriage to a place of health and vitality. I’m not going to lie and say it was easy because it was not. It was excruciating at times but Kathy hung in there with us and helped us see the problems and show us how to fix it.
The key to any good couples counseling is a great coach and willing partners. You both have to be willing to do the work and get through the tough and uncomfortable parts. Kathy never gave up on us even when I wanted to. She had a unique way of honoring each person in the room without playing favorites… a problem I had experienced with other counselors.
Kathy saw us both as individuals first and as a couple second. She showed us we had to be good with our own issues first before we could heal our marriage. I am so grateful she came into my life and 10 years later our marriage is stronger than ever thanks to the year we spent working with her.

This review is long overdue. I went to Kathy Jacobson seeking advice on career transitioning. We discussed my motivations for wanting to change my work and naturally, we began to talk about my overall life goals.
Kathy helped me «bite-​size» my goals so that they became more manageable. She did this by setting up smaller but attainable milestones. She also taught me how to effectively communicate. This means that I had to learn to ask for things, even if I didn’t think I could get them. And, she helped me develop statements to assert myself in situations in which I had difficulty in expressing myself.
Kathy is skilled at helping people find new ways of re-​examining old or ongoing situations. She helped me tap into a higher form of situational awareness that has changed how I make every decision.
Kathy is incredibly intuitive, intelligent, helpful, open, centered and she has a great sense of humor. You can throw any situation at her and she will help you craft a better, more positive understanding of how to deal with it. I give Kathy Jacobson my highest recommendation for career and life coaching. She is a phenomenal person, and her coaching is the best investment you can make in yourself.

Kathy Jacobson rocks my world. I started seeing Kathy for bodywork in the Fall of 2011, following a 6-​week hospital stay for a ruptured cerebral aneurysm that had left me feeling completely traumatized and out of touch with my body. Before seeing Kathy, I had had physical, occupational, and speech therapies, and had even seen a psychiatrist, but none of those brought me back to myself the way Kathy did. From the moment I walked into Kathy’s office, I felt calmer, more relaxed, and more present. Kathy listened to how I was feeling in a way no one else would — she was open, non-​judgmental, and allowed me the space to explore my feelings. No matter what I brought into the room each visit, Kathy was able to be present with me and to help me explore and acknowledge where I was at. When I started seeing Kathy, I felt lost — like this massive trauma had occurred to me (brain surgery) and I had no way of understanding it or my feelings around it. I felt incredibly raw and vulnerable, but Kathy opened me up and allowed me to explore my feelings with a sense of safety and curiosity.
The amazing and unique thing about working with Kathy was that she worked with me on both an emotional and a physical level. We talked about my feelings quite a bit, but we also worked on her massage table, and… wow. I had never explored my feelings in a physical, embodied way, but doing so was life-​changing. The experience in the hospital had left me feeling out of my body, traumatized by the endless poking and prodding I had received, but Kathy gently and compassionately brought me back to myself. Through exploring physically, I was able to discover how my physical experience translated into an emotional one. It is some of the deepest work I’ve done in my life and has awakened me not only to myself, but to a new way of living.
When people ask me now how I’m doing a year after my surgery, I actually tell them that I am better than ever, and that’s because of Kathy Jacobson. She not only helped me through the most traumatizing period in my life, she also helped me to find a more present, peaceful, and embodied way of living. She is incredible.

If you are like me, busy, stressed out and burned out, and if you are like me, shoulders and back aching and feeling mighty tired all the time, and if you’re like me, feeling lost and confused, Kathy is your answer.
She helped me so much (I know it’s gonna sound corny, and I hate corny) in body, mind and soul. Really. I’m not saying she does magic, like «poof!» and you get better, instead, she helps you understand how your mind and body is connected, and gives you tools so you can work on your stuff. A rare gem.
Oh, wait, did I mention she has a truly healing touch?

Still seeing Kathy several months later, and I’m seeing great results. I still get headaches, but I’m making more positive choices to deal with them (working out, changing jobs, and so on) and am feeling much better about my body. What can I say? I have seen Kathy a number of times for various issues related to my body — from uterine fibroids that had me in and out of the doctor’s office for years, to jaw and neck tension and related headaches. With the help of Kathy’s powerful and heartfelt work, I have come to see these «issues» as messages from my body about certain thought patterns and habits that weren’t helping me feel good. Over time, as I’ve learned to listen to my body and take great care of myself, I have come to see my body as a glorious home for my soul that ALWAYS has my best interest at heart. I now understand that if I listen to my body and feed her and nurture her, I am actually feeding and nurturing my spirit, and she will never sneak up on me and betray me, as I used to believe. Kathy balances humor, compassion, honesty, and plain old fun to create an atmosphere of love and acceptance where I feel comfortable enough to go deep, and then open up more deeply to life.

Wow. Just wow. I have done bodywork and counseling with Kathy and have had a physical and spiritual transformation.
We were able to locate areas of my body where I had been holding onto old beliefs and release them. She’s trained in Reiki, massage, a certified life coach so the feedback I received in my sessions was practical and inspired. It allowed me to heal tight areas around my back that I have not had any problems with since I had my session with Kathy (several years ago). She’s nurturing and smart. She gives honest and tactful feedback and allowed me to get to my own conclusions.
The space is magical and she uses only natural and organic products. I have taken the techniques she has taught me into my professional and personal relationships. While they don’t always end up the way I’d like, I always feel that I am authentic person in them — a wonderful gift.

Kathy is an amazing woman with fantastic life coaching skills for all walks of life. Kathy assisted me with organizing my home office which led to organization in other areas of my life. Instead of my home office being a comfortable place to work, it was a room with stacks of papers, white walls and furniture that was disorganized. For some reason I had a block of not getting this room together.
Kathy worked with me starting with the basics: (1) visualizing how I wanted my office to look and feel, (2) then taking care of the easy stuff first, and (3) taking more small steps that became easier and easier and turned into large successes. I am not a touchy feely/​visualization type of guy, but by Kathy working with me andy my personal comfort level, the experience and results really worked and were fantastic.
Now…I have an amazingly organized office — desk, small couch, shelves, new paint colors on the walls, papers and documents filed… even a cool plant ! I now walk into my office and feel very productive, which brings positive results in my work… it is simply amazing. On top of it all, this process that Kathy coached me through is applicable to other parts of my professional and personal life.
Kathy is fantastic at what she does and really seems to enjoy her work with her clients. Her strategy is deliberate, focused and planned specifically for each of her clients — this personal type of strategy brought quicker success and positive results for me. Thanks, Kathy!

I spent ten years struggling with pretty severe digestive challenges, and tried every traditional Western method in the book — and much to the consternation of my doctors, we found ways to relieve some symptoms but could never successfully identify a root cause.
I began a course of massage with Kathy somewhat reluctantly — I’d never felt comfortable in my body, and wasn’t too sure I wanted to feel into myself.
One of Kathy’s many talents is her ability to help you feel safe at home in yourself — and within a few sessions I was noticing tremendous improvements: for the first time I could eat all the foods I’d been avoiding for the past ten years.
It was nothing short of miraculous and yet made perfect sense:
Thanks to a combination of counseling, massage, relaxation, and visualization, I discovered I had been tensing muscles around my whole digestive tract for years without realizing I’d been holding them — and it was thanks to Kathy that I released all that (along with the psychological baggage coming along with it).
Kathy has a unique ability to unite the physical and metaphysical in ways I never knew were possible — and above all, she helped me see for the first time that my body is my friend, not my foe.
It is not remotely hyperbolic to say that our work has completely changed my life.

One of Kathy’s greatest gifts to me has been helping me to see myself with gentleness and compassion, instead of my habitual angry negativity. She has excellent and extensive training, many years of experience, and a vast repertoire of tools and methods of working — no «one-​size-​fits-​all» here! But perhaps even more important than that, she is highly sensitive and deeply intuitive, and I always feel that she is fully present and there with me — rare qualities, indeed. Contact Kathy! I cannot stress how creative her methods can be when it comes to opening up and resolving personal issues. I am a soon to be, graduate in Human Development and entering the field of therapy and I appreciate Kathy’s innovation and energy. One of Kathy’s many tools is a board game titled ‘Do Tell.’ I have already used this game in group settings, with the goal of strengthening relationships and opening communication. I saw Kathy again, and this time I worked on an issue re: writing my book. I’d been having trouble finishing my book, and after I saw Kathy, it’s become so much easier to finish it.
You might say I had some stuck energy around it, and she helped me to clear it up by asking me the right questions, and having me practice a very cool technique that tapped into my past success in winning a small and friendly Poker tournament (yes, I know that sounds strange, but it worked).
Anyhow, the bottom line is this: Kathy’s darn good at what she does, which is help people get through their blocks. I’m usually stubborn about asking for help and prefer to clear up my problems myself, but this time around I’m glad I asked for help. She saved me a lot of time and stress, really quickly.
