Juan Lopez Fitness

I have been training with Juan since December and highly recommend him. I started working out with him because his studio is geographically convenient, but quickly realized I stumbled upon a gem. He is a great coach. Juan has studied his craft and taught me the value of strength training. I used to run from time to time and try to stay in shape by simply being active. On the brink of my 37^th birthday that was no longer enough. i have never had a gym membership because all i really knew how to do was run on the treadmill and sporadically lift a few dumbbells. Now I have a methodical program and have steadily added weight and built strength. In the process my cardio (just pick up hoops) has actually improved dramatically.
Oh, and Juan’s studio space is incredible. Small (no fishbowl of a big gym), views of twin peaks, operable windows on those nice mission days.

Juan is an excellent trainer. He focuses on technique and form and takes the time to explain how to do the exercises correctly and what muscles you should be using to get the most out of your workout. He draws diagrams and provides demonstrations, which are helpful too. He has also mapped out how the work outs will go an what we are aiming for and what we will do next. Overall he is a pleasure to work with and the results have been inspiring. I would highly recommend working with Juan.

It’s been my pleasure to have been training with Juan for several months. He always pushes me beyond my limits and is incredibly detail-​oriented when it comes to technique during our strength workouts. Juan is great about giving me the right cues so that I can lift safely and properly. Our training sessions are complimentary to my active lifestyle (endurance racing, outdoor activities) and I’ve found my recovery time to be significantly better since I’ve started.
Juan is very accommodating — as my goals have evolved, Juan has listened and has made changes to our training regimen.
Juan also has a fun personality which is just an added motivator during my morning workouts.

I have worked with Juan for several months. His method of training is patient but rigorous. I have been steadily improving the entire time I have been working with him. On top of that he is easy going, professional, and punctual. What’s not to like?

Juan is the man when it comes to getting my butt in shape. I played soccer my whole life and as a result have an unfortunate history of severe knee injuries. Juan has been able to train me in a way that strengthens and stretches the correct muscle groups as preventative measures to compensate for my past injuries. He listens well and will fine-​tune a program specific to your individual needs. Would give him 6 stars if I could.

At the age of 44, I was resigned to growing old and fat. But then my wife intervened, and I found Juan. He has been training me for the past 20 weeks. Juan has a real passion for physical fitness. I wholeheartedly recommend him as a personal trainer. I have noticed a major difference in muscle tone, and strength. At my age, it’s hard to find the fire within. Juan brings an energy to training that is infectious and motivating. My wife doesn’t worship me yet, but I think that she will any day now!

Juan has been a great mentor. He’s helped me develop the right technique and habits to get into shape. His coaching style is a good balance: pushing you to improve but doing it in a respectful and supportive way. He’s been good about listening and understanding my goals and physical challenges and adjusting our workouts appropriately. I’d recommend Juan to anyone that wants to get fit.

Ok, so I’m cut now. Not «stupidly cut», but cut. :) I have been working with Juan for a few months now and my body fat is down significantly. When I see myself in pictures, I can tell the difference right away. Looking back, I think, «did I ever let myself get that soft?» Health is such an important part of life, it impacts everything, so given how busy I am, having a personal trainer makes so much sense. Juan pushes me just the right amount, keeping me engaged and on task. We do a variety of work-​outs that are tailored to what I need and have really gotten results. Juan is always flexible, looking at where I am in the short and long term, keeping my goals in mind. Above all, Juan is good guy to work with. He’s patient, and has a strong passion for what he does. This motivates me to work harder and I get so much out of the 2 concentrated sessions a week.

I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Juan over the past 5 years as a (more advanced) classmate and teacher to me for capoeira and salsa. He has a genuine interest to see his peers and clients improve. His attention to detail was frustrating to begin with, but later realized it was just painfully good for me. The way working out should be.
His fitness background is rooted in a unique set of activities (capoeira, tumbling, cycling, salsa, etc.) that makes him a knowledgeable teacher with good music and funny stories to keep you entertained. ;)

I would highly recommend Juan for both the everyday and more serious athletes. Juan continues to provide me with a holistic, sustainable, and practical approach to fitness. I’m an avid sport climber, and Juan is a key factor in helping me progress from intermediate to advanced climbing. Under his direction, I’ve incorporated balance and stability exercises that are also fun to do; beyond the basic weight equipment, I now know how to use kettle bells, bosu balls, and core exercises in ways that have definitively improved my climbing ability. Beyond his technical knowledge, he’s also a friendly and patient trainer; Juan’s given me confidence in navigating the weight room, which no longer intimidates me! Many thanks, Juan!

Juan asked me what I wanted to achieve (core strengthening), and I really appreciated the fact that he took that into account when designing the session. He took me through the exercises, and coached me on my form. He seems to have a lot of knowledge, and also a very encouraging demeanor. I appreciated the way he explained what each exercise was doing for my body, and why it was important to have good form. He gave me some great exercises to work on, and even emailed to check in on my progress! I will definitely be back!

I have to say that I was sore for about 3 days after my first workout day with Juan. Just goes to show that he makes you use muscles you didn’t know you had or haven’t used in a while! He is very patient and his understanding of the human body. What I appreciate most is that he develops a workout regimen that corresponds to your personal strengths and limits.
I play a lot of soccer and since I began going to Juan I have seen the results I wanted in my body and in the soccer field :). Highly recommend him to those of you who want to get back in shape or have that competitive edge.

I would highly recommend Juan for anyone who’s looking to get back into shape! He’s skilled, patient, and caters to your specific needs. He has a very diverse set of experience (salsa, capoeira, free weights, to name a few) that he pulls from which makes each session interesting and non-​repetitive. He also pushes you at just the appropriate levels and times to make sure you’re being personally challenged. The best part is that Juan is committed to each of his clients, he has a passion towards helping other achieve their personal goals and in building a long term relationship.

Juan is really great at making sure you get an amazing work out! But more importantly, Juan makes it fun and unique. Juan caters to your needs and interests. I hate using the regular machines at the gym, so we did a completely new workout regiment targeting all the muscle groups regular machines would. Juan is also nice and personable which makes asking questions really easy.
