Joseph did an amazing job! I got balayage highlights and a trim that turned out really well. The color looked subtle and natural, which is what I wanted. He even threw in a conditioning treatment for free. I’ll definitely be going to him regularly!

I had a fantastic first time experience with Joseph! I’ve been getting my hair colored by balayage for years and am pretty picky about it, but Joseph was very familiar with the process. He did a fantastic job, and when I decided I wanted to pink hair at the ends of my hair last minute he didn’t bat an eye. He walked me through my options color wise and what the maintenance and fading was going to look like for it. Found my new stylist in the city!

To the lovely guy that literally saved my hair from continuing to look like brassy/​burnt-​grass look, Joseph, you’re the best I went from «burnt grass», to an ashy brown/​silver ombré hair!!! I love it SO much.

I just had balayage, haircut and root touch up with Joseph today. He did an amazing job! I’m so happy with the results, I got exactly what I want and pictured! He’s such an expert! Booking an appointment is easy, it’s better if you text him! He replies in a few minutes ! His salon is on the 2^nd floor of the building. Going to his unit, you’ll see a bunch of other small salons, but his is located at the end of the hall. You’ll see it right away! It’s very clean and tidy. Overall, he surely knows what he is doing. I saw Joseph today and I was cashing in on a Groupon that I didn’t realize was expiring tomorrow. I called him last weekend and thought he was so kind to come in on his day off. I had a shampoo and style done and I have to say, I felt like a million bucks coming out of there. He is a master at what he does and made me feel so comfortable. I just think out of all the salons I’ve gone to this past year, JosephAlex is the place for me. He’s amazing and trust me, you won’t be disappointed.

I’ve been seeing Joseph to dye and style my hair since August and he is absolutely my one and only stylist now. He is not only ultra-​talented but also very sweet, understanding and wonderful to while the time away with. He’s given me beautiful balayage highlights, great layers, discrete colored extensions, and beautiful root touch-​ups. He’s also very reasonably priced and I appreciate that, too.
One of the best things about Joseph is that he really understands hair and coloring. He can look at someone and figure out exactly what colors would work the best for them. Joseph took me much darker than expected the first time I saw him but it took me all of 24 hours to fall in love with my new color. Can’t say enough great things about this guy. He’s both talented and a wonderful person to boot. :-)

I had such a great experience with Joseph. Let me start by saying, I was a terrible client from the get go. Rescheduled because of a last minute trip to Napa, then was beyond late for my rescheduled appointment coming back from Point Reyes so I had to reschedule again. It wouldn’t have been beyond reason for him to charge me for my ridiculousness, but each and every time he was so understanding and sweet.
I also didn’t give him a great starting point to work with. I had gotten regular highlights several months ago that had grown out several inches and showed up like, hey! you can fix this right? And he totally did. He blended some blonde balayage, trimmed up my ends and added some layers for me to walk out feeling so fresh and wonderful.
Not only that, we had the best time chatting and giggling and telling tales about love and loss and all the kinds of things you want to talk to your hairstylist about.
Finding a new hairstylist is hella scary. Joseph made me feel at ease and we had a great time. Highly recommend.

Joseph is an awesome stylist. He is very patient and took the time to understand what I was looking for. He’s very friendly and entertaining, the time went by so fast. I had color and cut by him and I am definitely coming back. Highly recommend!

This guy is more than a hair stylist, he is an ABSOLUTE ARTIST! He recently gave my girlfriend a hair cut that looks GORGEOUS on her. Even though he specializes in womens hair, he gave me a trim as well that turned out EXACTLY how I requested it to look. Very pleasant to talk to; definitely the type of person I like to give my business too. We couldn’t be happier! Keep up the good work Joseph!

I cannot believe I’m typing this, but this was by far and hands down the SINGLE BEST GROUPON EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD.
Communication/​Appointment:
— Joseph Alex has wonderful communication skills and I was able to get an appointment almost 3 weeks from the date of my reaching out to him. Voice-​mail is available but texting is best & most prompt. I told him to let me know if anything opened up anytime before then and he said he would, but (understandably) nothing opened up before my appmt.
Location:
Beyond accessible by Montgomery MUNI/​BART, and located on the 2^nd floor of the building right next to Ginto. I would highly discourage driving/​parking.
The Groupon:
Balayage & cut (regularly $ 230 but Groupon was $ 125) — don’t recall if it included a blowout or not but he was beyond nice and did that for me too. I communicated my color preferences (burgundy balayage on black hair & very modest trim/​addition of a few layers) ahead of time, so he was set by the time I arrived.
Time:
I had a 5:30pm appointment and walked out closer to 8:30pm.
The results:
Fabulous, stunning, sexy, sleek, elegant, and oh so freaking professional.

I was nervous to go anywhere since my past few attempts of finding a good hairstylist were not very good.
Joseph ombréd my hair to a great color with no brassy tones. He also listened to what I asked. I asked for my ends trimmed and that’s exactly all he cut.
I will definitely visit again! Great experience.

After a bad experience with a hairstylist who did my hair drunk, I went on Groupon to find my next salon. I Unilocaled all of the salons offered and decided to go with this one because: 1.) the reviews are amazing 2.) the pictures are gorgeous 3.) he seems like a great person (and that’s so important especially if you’re going to be spending 3hrs with him)
The salon is small but very comfortable. Joe works with his cousin, Raymond, and both are so warm and sweet. They have a mix of newbies (like me) and regulars, but the treatment does not vary. I felt comfortable the entire time. Joe is also a wonderful conversationalist. Funny, sassy, but also professional. I was exhausted on my way to his salon, but left with a pep in my step
I walked in with something really blonde in mind for my balayage. Joe looked at the pictures and suggested we go with a more toned-​down blonde. I was skeptical at first, but it turned out amazing! The haircut that followed was beautiful, but my friends have already told me that he’s a whizz with haircuts so I wasn’t surprised
All in all, I love Joe and his salon. If you’re on the fence about him, go for it. He’s incredibly talented, truly cares about your hair, and is an all-​around delightful person.

Joe is great!
I just said, «make my hair pretty again» and before I knew it, I was seeing exactly what I’d hoped for in the mirror. Thanks, Joseph! I’m back to liking my hair again!

First of all, the process of making an appointment is super easy and convenient. He sent a confirmation reminder few days before the scheduled appointment and there’s another reminder (sent thru text or email) one day before!
I got a haircut and ombré from Joseph. I had long hair and I wanted to cut it to medium length and make it light blonde. Joseph told me prior that for light blonde it’s going to damage my hair and it’s going to cost extra, so he suggested to do ash brown (dark/​medium blonde). I trusted him and let him do the coloring. The result is fantastic! The layers and the length of my hair are perfect and I really like how the brown color blends in all together creating different shades of brown!
I really recommend him, he’s super friendly and nice. Very welcoming. The place is super cute and not too big, but it feels very comforting. I would love to get back and let Joseph do the magic :)

I came in for a Keratin treatment, and it took only an hour for that and a haircut from start to finish. This was convenient for me, but I was suspicious because usually Keratin treatments have taken 3+ hours to straighten my hair section by section. Joseph went very quickly, didn’t take small sections with the straightener or separate my hair into sections at all when applying the product. Because I was nervous, I waited a full 5 days not to wash my hair, rather than the recommended 3. But because it hadn’t been meticulously applied, the treatment only lasted like 10 days rather than the 3 – 4 months it is supposed to last. I’ve gotten more than 5 keratin treatments over the years, and its never ever taken less than 2.5 hours. He gave me a good price, which was appreciated, but in the future I would definitely just pay full price to have the time taken to make the product last.
That being said — I gave 2 stars because Joseph is really nice, like everyone else has commented.

Joseph is awesome! I felt comfortable as soon as I met him. He knows what he’s doing. He recommends what he thinks is best, but he listens to what you want as well. He’s not afraid to be himself, which I love. No need for uncomfortable small talk, you can have a conversation with Joseph! I asked for a haircut and ombré and he did it perfectly. The color is vibrant and my hair doesn’t feel dead. He and his cousin work in the cute salon together and they’re both super fun. I highly recommend going to him!

Joseph did a great job with my hair. He took the time to understand what I wanted, listened to my concerns and made sure to check in with me periodically so we were always on the same page. I really appreciated this, as I’ve had too many haircuts where you sit down and they hack away without even asking what you want. I got a haircut/​balayage highlights, and I was quite nervous because I’d never had my hair professionally dyed before (only box-​dyed when I was 19). However, I’m very happy with the results. The color makes my hair look like it’s always in the sun, which is perfect for summer. It’s subtle and blends in seamlessly with my natural hair. Joseph also fixed the hack-​job of a haircut I had before!
The location is very convenient/​accessible and the ambiance is cozy. Joseph is also very fun to talk to! I never really understood how people could spend a lot on their hair, but after the way I felt leaving Joseph’s salon, I’d do it again! Highly recommend

Had my first appointment with Joseph last night and he is wonderful! Not only is he adorable and sweet as can be, but he does great hair. I had my first balayage and I love it! It looks very natural and Joseph did an amazing job on the color. I was not sure what color I wanted so I trusted Joseph to choose for me according to my current hair color and skin tone and I am so glad I did. The color came out great and the cut is perfect too (I can be picky about my bangs and he nailed it). I asked Joseph to make me pretty and he delivered, what more can a girl asks for?! Finally, a man I can trust!
I will definitely be back to see Joseph so he can work his magic on me again. If you are looking for a new stylist, Joseph is your man.

Joseph was awesome to work with– very friendly and accommodating and he really had my (and my hair’s) best interest in mind. He even came in on a Sunday (his day off) to do my keratin treatment so that it wouldn’t get ruined when I went out dancing over the weekend. He takes great pride in his work and it really shows.
My keratin treatment came out great! My hair is so soft and smooth and much more manageable to deal with after washing. I’m so happy and I’ll definitely be back to see Joseph!
