History

Established in 1999.

My life’s work came to me even though I wasn’t searching for it. As a former corporate executive and meeting facilitator, my job was to help businesses identify their motivation, vision and objectives and then build an action plan to get them to their goals. Without clarity, a company simply cannot reach its potential. By breaking apart elements of the business, examining each and then keeping what works and tossing what doesn’t, I have been very successful at getting companies on the right track.

It was a natural transition from business to personal coaching because now I get to use my skills in a very different and, for me, more important way. After 15 years as a life coach, my passion for it only grows.

Often, the answers a person needs to move forward are inside him or herself, not necessarily top-​of-​mind but waiting, yearning to be unearthed. What I do is ask questions and more questions to help clients organize their thinking, prioritize options and see a new path — sometimes subtle, sometimes far-​reaching to, simply, make life happier and more satisfying. Sometimes clients are struggling with business issues or have lost their passion for their careers. Other times, people come to me because they don’t have enough time, unfulfilling relationships, family difficulties, sadness, loss, or are not pursuing interests that give them pleasure.

My one word to sum up Joan is WONDERFUL. Joan helps you transform your life. As I tell everyone that I refer to Joan, she doesn’t tell you anything you don’t already cognitively know. Joan Fodor is much more than a life coach. She’s a fantastic collaborator, the kind we all need at some point of our lives. Joan asks great questions. She listens carefully to your answers. As your collaboration deepens, Joan writes key points down on big yellow Post-​It notes and puts them up on a wall. It helps both of you visualize what’s important, and it helps you to organize your thinking and, best of all, start to see patterns. She helps guide you toward conclusions that you couldn’t have come to on your own and yet, in hindsight, seem inevitable. Along the way, Joan is warm, funny, wise, and nurturing. You can get a lot accomplished with Joan in one session. But she’s so good, you’ll want to go back.
