Description

Specialties

I specialize in working with anxiety and stress. Symptoms of anxiety may include, self-criticism, unreasonable fears (such as phobias and panic attacks), stress, and shyness. I also work with couples who are having problems with communication and become stuck in painful and harmful cycles in their relationships.

My goal is to help you identify and move out of old stuck patterns of dealing with problems in your life. These, patterns probably served you a long time ago, but have outlived their usefulness.

My style is interactive and engaged. Therapy is your time to work with what matters most to you. I see my role as therapist as helping to untangle the stuck places and then help you in moving towards a life that is more rich, full, and satisfying. I have helped. Feel free to call me for a free 20 minute initial phone consultation.

Meet the Business Owner

Jim C.

Business Owner

Like many other therapists I came to the field of psychotherapy because of my own struggles with anxiety. While attending to my own care, I became very curious and interested in what works and what is most effective in therapy. I love seeing growth, change, and transformation happen in the people I work with.

I received my MSW from Portland State University and practice as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have studied I’ve had a private practice in in San Francisco since 1998. I am certified as an EMDR therapist. I’ve studied Hakomi (Somatic Therapy) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (A form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.) I have advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples.
