Um… So, what are the circumstances for you (karen I.) to say that Jesse Foster has a fake personality and a lousy attitude? Do you actually KNOW him? Did you meet him?, or simply over-​hear half a conversation in Ressales to form this narrow minded opinion of who YOU THINK he REALLY is as a person?
How completely obnoxious of you, and totally UNFAIR. You come flying over the bridge from Emeryville one night, for some little adventure in the city, and you think you have it all figured out?
I actually know the guy, and have known him for a 1 year and a half. I have actually sung at the Workshop with him for over a year. He definitely has a personality, and there’s NOTHING NOT FAKE about it – that is 100% all Jesse.
As a teacher and a performer, Jesse Foster, is excellent. He has a tuff personality, because he’s there to make you a BETTER SINGER. He doesn’t blow smokey up your a** with lies, or pat you on the head when you’re doing it wrong. You’ll never improve that way. (If you ever have a teacher who does that, leave immediately!)
I, myself, have improved 10 fold, because of his teachings. So much so, that I and several other singers from the group now have a real chance to singing at, Yoshi’s Jazz Club. An incredible opportunity that is not offered to just anyone.
You, (Karen I.), are clearly NOT a singer or a musician of any kind. You have NO IDEA what your talking about. The «Singer’s Workshop», was located in the Marina for 12 years, which shows what YOU know, which is NOTHING. The fact that you mentioned «American Idol», as some sort of comparison — just proves it. What a joke. No REAL musician ever mentions «American Idol».
As a REAL musician, Jesse Foster, knows and was friends with such greats as, Sly Stone, from «Sly and the Family Stone». He’s met and worked with all 4 members of «Manhattan Transfer». He has an excellent reputation with local musicians, local club owners, and up and coming new talent. So, NEXT time, please get your facts straight, before writing such «Slanderous Lies», on a subject that you know nothing about.

Jesse Foster is the only teacher that I know of in the Bay Area now who is offering jazz and rythym and blues singers both performance training and the opportunity to sing with a trio in an actual club setting. He does a great job of coaching the student through their fears, teaching them performance techniques from how to use a mike if you need it to a creative new ending or take on a song. He’s warm, real and safe. He has a nice studio too. It’s like a masters class in a real club environment which is also cool because you get to meet other up and coming local performers. By the way, Jesse’s moved the workshop to Rassela’s because Bistro Yoffi has closed. Rassela’s seems to have better acoustics.
