Jeremy’s did go out of business! sad news for sf. 5 stars for everything awesome this store was!

Ladies & gentlemen I regret to inform you that the once glorious Jeremy’s is now closed. I don’t know why they have forsaken us, but the displays have been removed & windows covered… Goodbye old friend.

Wait. Whaaaat happened to the 2^nd FLOOR?! BOO AND BULLFROGS!
I’ve always had mixed feelings about Jeremy’s, but last year after finding some great Anthropologie close out deals, I decided to keep coming back. My favorite part of the store was the 2^nd floor. Home goods, trinkets, gadgets and gizmos aplenty… fun stuff, right?
Well, imagine my S U R P R I S E when I showed up last week and the entire second floor was gone. GONE! Demolished I tell ya! They have what would have been on the 2^nd floor in the back now, and it’s a train wreck.
WHY, JEREMY’S, WHY? I’m hoping you’ve got something amazing planned!
Overall: come here for discounted past season designer goods. There’s always new merchandise, and you’re sure to find something cool. You’ll just have to dig.

I was pretty bummed to find the upstairs gone. That’s where I shopped the most. Now, the discount stuff is pretty disorganized in the «back room» and there aren’t enough dressing rooms.

–Good place to go to for designer clothing for a more affordable price.
–Make sure to check for tears/​rips/​stains on clothing (I dont understand why you’d wanna sell something even though it’s already ruined, but I guess a person’s trash is another person’s treasure)
–Regular priced clothing is actually pretty expensive. They carry clothing from Urban Outfitters and I feel like the sales at UO are more affordable and reasonable than the prices here at Jeremy’s.
This place is a far walk from downtown San Francisco. But, it’s a nice place to visit to see if there’s something for yourself. I guess one of the cons of this store is that you can spend so much time here looking through clothing/​bags. Would only buy from the clearance section from here.

Obsessed! I got an amazing pair of 1500 jimmy choos for $ 287 ! I need to stay away from this place, because I won’t have a paycheck after I go. AMAZING selection for women (smaller for men), but wonderful, great condition luxury designer stuff!

Great men’s consignment/​vintage/​overstock. The men’s selection is much smaller than the women’s, but the prices are very reasonable. I picked up some nice Bruno Magli’s for $ 200 (some wear) and some Blazers.
The return policy is worth asking about. My understanding is «all sales final.» Especially on the merchandise marked «salvage,» watch out for imperfections. I was lucky that my cashier (really nice blonde guy) would look things over and alert me to a hole or scratch. Sometimes I was comfortable with the damage and the price. Other times I changed my mind.
Once you become cautious about looking things over there are some very nice things here. They also have frequent sales.
Service is also very helpful.
Perhaps it’s just my taste, but I feel that the men’s selection could be better curated and bigger (asking for the impossible?). There are some really dinky-​looking jackets alongside winners. I found no 30−32″ sacks although I found great jeans. The attendants said that they get new stuff on the weekdays.

Yuck! This place is terrible! Incredibly expensive junk. Sure there are great names but everything is damaged/​stained/​falling apart/​etc. A Tory Burch wallet with the lining ripped off– $ 250. White Joie top with yellow armpit stains– $ 129. Get the idea? Even the non-​designer items were in awful condition. Don’t bother (and I don’t mind the hunt and find normally…). I had the urge to wash my hands vigorously and shower after coming here.

Laughable. I went for the first time today. I tried on three pairs of pants and two sweaters. All were priced WELL over $ 100, and all had HUGE HOLES in the material! I am not kidding in the least. One sweater had the bottom completely falling off! Are they buying factory rejects and selling them for top prices. yes, I believe that is totally the case.

SHHHHH! Jeremy’s is the best kept secret in the city.
I thought this was another consignment store, so it took me quite a while to visit this location since it’s a bit out of the way for me. I’ve been to Jeremy’s in Berkeley a few times and was not impressed (maybe it’s not my style).
BUT WHEN I VISITED THE SF LOCATION…
Holy moly, this location is the holy grail of designer goodies at a steal!
You should come to the store when there is a sale, but the regular price is not bad at all. It definitely beats the Rack with so many goodies at unbeatable prices. I once got a pair of Kate Spade heels for $ 15 and Choos for $ 60. Sometimes they have their fabulous 70% off marked down items & it is a dealllll!
THEY SELL PETITE SIZES HERE TOO! This is a MAJOR win for me. I’m not interested in paying a tailor more than the cost of the clothing item for alterations, so I often have a limited selection when shopping in stores.
I’ve noticed complaints about the workers in previous reviews, but I’ve never had a poor experience. Everyone has been friendly and/​or neutral. I can imagine it must be chaotic to have to arrange everything (since there are racks on racks of clothes packed into the building), so I don’t blame them for not being at their perkiest during sales (people get too crazy during a sale). They’re human too! As long as they’re not harassing/​discriminating against you, everything will be ok. It is a discounted store after all, so I don’t expect the Neiman Marcus experience.
TIPS:
— Some thing are slightly (some more than others) damaged. Be sure to look at the item in a good light to see if there are any flaws. Sometimes the «flaw» is so minuscule that it’s so worth it to buy the Alexander Wang dress at $ 10. It’s still a beautiful dress.
— TRY THE CLOTHES ON! I notice flaws more when I try things on. For example, you may find simple things like zippers or buttons missing/​damaged or something as extreme as a patch of sequins missing on a sequin dress.
— Visit regularly. Just because you didn’t see anything on your first trip, doesn’t mean you never will. I tend to purchase something each time I go here, but it’s generally a hit or miss.
— Sign up for their mailing lists or follow Jeremy’s on Instagram to get a peak of new products coming into the store and sales.

the loses:
— feeling watched by a hawk when i happen to come here wearing my admittedly adolescent backpack
— sifting through the things pretty much everyone knows nobody will purchase any longer (tchotchkes like entangled cell-​phone-​only cross body pouches, iphone cases that look like they’re from three years ago… meh. not the biggest deal)
the wins:
-$ 50 AG jeans that are the softest, sexiest ever and give me *that* ass
–pretty much brand new Frye boots 50% down from their retail price
–hawt Vegas-​appropriate dresses that don’t fall apart after one wash, and at a decent price point of $ 40 or less
-$ 10 burgundy corduroys that I wear: everywhere:
I could go on with the finds from here that made me feel like the best shopper in the world, but that would be boring. and time is of the essence!
If you need to buy one item reliably, within a small time frame, this may not be the first place I’d recommend, for women, specifically. But, if you are looking to browse, get lost in racks on racks (of clothing) and see what crazy things are offered here, and double-​check that your potential purchases have no holes/​stains/​rips prior to taking that ridiculously low price at face value — Jeremy’s can be a satisfyingly worth-​while stop for your sartorial needs and urges.

It’s a great looking store.

Oh Jeremy’s… how I hate you.
You make it really difficult to shop everywhere else now. I use to clearance hunt at H&M, but If it weren’t for Uniqlo’s quality and my need for underwear at Victoria’s Secret, I’d give up shopping all other stores and come to you.
Where were you in college?
As someone who shops the clearance rack at Urban Outfitters and wishes she had the paycheck bandwidth to afford Anthropologie and Free People clearance, this place is a gold mine. I can get UO tanks for 60 cents after clearance and their additional weekend discounts. Free People tops for $ 7? Cartonnier Charlie Ankle pants for $ 10? SOLD.
Keep in mind, what I just mentioned was what I got from the clearance racks + additional discounts. I once got a beautiful beaded/​gypsy Anthro tank top that was originally $ 168 (the Anthro tag was still attached, and it was on sale at $ 69 at Anthro previously), for only $ 15 after their 40% off all apparel sale. Still expensive IMO, but I bought that sucker because I may never see it again at that price. The same goes for another tank top from Motif — it was still $ 88 at the Anthropologie store in Union Square, but I bought it for $ 14 at Jeremy’s.
My bargain finds are on the 2^nd floor, where the Anthroplogie, UO, and FP brands are. They also have brands like Romeo and Juliet Couture, Diesel, and BCBG up there. This is a store where you have to dig to find the bargain — the racks are pretty messy and only slightly organized by size — the staff does their best. That’s mainly why I docked a star — you really, really have to dig to find something you’ll like. And make sure you keep tabs of what you’re holding… because the moment you put it down, someone else may just grab it. Not the store’s fault, but it’s the atmosphere during busy hours.
Which leads to my next piece of advice — you can leave your bags behind the counter, just ask the staff at the register and they’ll give you a security tag to carry. This makes it so you don’t accidentally forget your bag at the counter. It gets warm and crowded in there, so having a bulging bag out of the way helps the experience.
Weekends are the best time to go because they have good sales, like additional 30% off all womens clothing, INCLUDING CLEARANCE! You can look on the website for what’s the upcoming weekend sale through their newsletter.
I imagine others looking for REAL designer labels like Phillip Lim, Armani, and Valentino would be disappointed at their selection since a lot of their designers are damaged and still expensive. But for the rest of us, this place works.
Now if only I could drive up here to buy their home decorations… can’t really carry all of it on the Caltrain.

This place is a hit or miss — you can get great designer deals but you have to dig around. Make sure you inspect every item before you leave, especially if it’s final sale, since a lot of the stuff are returned items, floor samples, or overstock of past season. The only complaint is that for most designer shoes, they usually only get bigger sizes.
They always have great sales on the weekends, and the staff is somewhat friendly.

I debated not writing a review for Jeremy’s, because I would hate for it to be crowded once more people catch on, but in reality this little store has earned it.

I’m in love. Why ever shop at Anthro when you can come here just a few months later and find all the stuff you foolishly bought full price? I literally have seen 10 or more items that I’ve bought in the last six months, pieces I paid at least $ 158+ for now $ 20 – 59. Crazy. And the upstairs home goods section is just incredible. The deals you can get up there are better than anything I’ve ever seen. Forget eBay. Again, Anthro beauties like King size normally priced $ 400 duvets for $ 60. Steals! Ahhhmazing…
The couture items downstairs are more limited — size runs are iffy and unpredictable — size 0 or size 14 is common and there are not as many 4, 6 or 8s and my shoe size isn’t exactly available in the shoes I really want either. But… overall, this is an amazing place. Great for gifts, quick accessories, fun (no name but cool) and unique handbags, belts, and jewelry.
We had some fun token gifts to buy recently and came across some great deals. $ 30 bracelets for only $ 5. Load up and gift away!
The men’s section boasts some beautiful clothing and accessories. In need of a rich, supple leather bag? Some classic Raybans? A gorgeous tie? Beautiful shirts that belong at Neiman’s? Get on in here and get dressed men! From conservative-​style studs to creative, expressive sexy artist types, there’s something here for anyone.
Need delicious Votivo candles? Some sweet letterpress stationary? Done!

I’m simply shocked by the negative reviews.
People, this is Jeremy’s, not Neiman Marcus. The same place some idiot walked out with a pair of jeans that had an undiscovered hole in it, I walked out of today with a $ 4000 Bruno Cuchinelli leather jacket for $ 300 and a pair of Fendi platform stiletto heels for $ 150.
Past triumphs include:
— 2 additional leather jackets — these were Chloe and retailed for $ 3500 — for $ 300 each
— a $ 2000 red Valentino cocktail dress for $ 125
— a pair of $ 1300 Celine boots for $ 100
— a $ 3000 black satin Nina Ricci coat for $ 250.
This place is for people who see each killer deal as an accomplishment — a little trophy.
If you’re one who’s going to bitch about having to check something for flaws before you buy it, or that the sweaters aren’t folded in neat little piles like the Gap, then you’re missing the point.
And you’re missing the 90% off retail I consistently score when I walk outta there.
All the more for me.

This is place can be a holy grail for some and «WTF» for others.
Let’s define «holy grail» first
1) designer after designers. I am not talking about BCBG designers, i am talking about McQueen’s, Balenciaga, Chanel, Dior. Household names with few less zeros than you would find at normal retailers
2) They are not afraid to put out on a peacock feather dress and convince you why you need it. But as you walk out, you can’t help but stare at across the street full of «techies» munching on their $ 13 grilled cheese sandwich with a hoodie on.
NOW, where can i wear this peacock dress
3) The staff knows their shit and they are not afraid to tell you that «, mm it doesn’t look good on you» They will be your best friend, the Jewish mother you wish you had but never had, your bf, your nemesis. Their job is to make you look good and they will do everything to convince you that gold snake number is a must half for a night out in town
4) They are honest. «will this stain come out» NOPE, don’t think so– but its $ 8 bucks for Michael Kors Sequence dress. Wear it once and if someone notices the stain, politely smile and say «HOW did that get on there»
Now for WTF’s
1) WTF are some of the «Designers» they carry, well if you look closely KIMCHI Blues is not a korean girl without kimichi, its a sub brand from Urban Outfitters
2) Make sure that you are comfortable with wearing a hot pink feather number over lame gold tights and 7 inch platform shoes, and NOT Feel like a clown, if NOT This place will have you scratching your head… «WHERE ARE the neatly stacked sweaters like the gap?»
3) Staff knows right away if you are someone that loves fashion or «looking» they are eagles in the sky, and they will prey on those poor fashion victims
4) Look closely, then look again. If you look too much then you probably already missed the gigantic ink stain around the butt area of the jean that you just put on the counter to purchase. Found one pair of the shoe you liked that looked decent? look again… oops sorry one is 9 and the other 5. Better call your foot doctor for either a quick lipo or injection of some kind.

Saddens me to say, but it’s not what it once was. Once upon a time, Jeremy’s was THE go-​to place for discounted high-​end couture. They had variety, they had style, it was a combination of old-​world tailor shop, cutting-​edge fashion, high-​end and yet affordable (ish) to the common (upper middle class) man.
My last two visits have simply been uninspiring. The prices seem to have creeped out of reach for the most part. The selection doesn’t seem quite as impressive. I’ve left empty handed twice, which never would have happened «back in the day».
Add astronomical parking in this neighborhood to the equation, and it’s just no longer on my radar. Pretty sure it’ll be a few years until I try again, hopefully by then they’ll be back to their former glory. I’m hoping this is just a lull or a blip and not a pattern. I don’t think they’ll be around in a few years if they don’t revamp and get back to where they once belonged.

I’m not a slave to fashion.
I am content wearing my Giants, Niners and Warriors gears, which make up at least 75% of my wardrobe. The other 25%, the wifey insist I wear nice clothes so I can look halfway presentable and decent.
She’s not talking about the suit and tie I wear to work, but stuff when we go out. Funny how women think men don’t know how to dress after getting married. Well… maybe they’re halfway right since we start wearing comfortable clothes and we no longer have to impress you.
If you are impeccably put together, you are either A: cheating or B: Gay.
Jeremy’s is not my first choice when it comes to clothing as most of their men stuff are designer clothes made for skinny models and not real men. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mean to offend anyone by my definition of «real mean» but my simple observation is that most (if not all) of their clothing are tailored towards different body proportions as opposed to the general male population. Their clothing might as well be tailor-​fitted for aliens.
I tried on an Armani shirt over the weekend that was sized XXL and this shirt wouldn’t even button across my chest. C’mon now, I’m not that big a guy and I just wondered what body type they used as reference when they determined the sizes. And don’t even get me started on skinny jeans. Certain body types and age shouldn’t wear skinny jeans just because it’s fashionable. I’ve seen some bald, old, fat, gay (no offense) guys wearing skinny jeans and they look like an ice cream cone ready to burst on top.
To date, the only things I have purchased from here are two ties and one dress shirt. The other times I’ve been here is because the wifey dragged me here for their 70% off sale so I can carry her shopping bag. I will admit, she has found some nice designers clothes at bargain prices, but I don’t have her patience when it comes to shopping as I always end up at the 21^st Amendment right across the street for some reason or another.

Bargains, not galore, but they are there. I recently got a pair of Diesel jeans for $ 59 bucks. I could have easily gotten a new leather Jacket or two, too.
I check in here every couple of months or so… not looking for anything, but often, finding something special.
