JC Tattoo

Got a purple lotus from Chris a few weeks ago, and I am so in love with it! This was my first trip to the shop and all the staff were extremely friendly and professional. I chose the design from Chris’ flash; he was good about talking me through the entire process and making sure I was always comfortable. I love how it turned out! No issues healing. I’ll definitely be back!

Obtained a tattoo of a rose on the side of my left calf. The artist was Chris Kempton. He did an excellent job. The detail and artistry came out better than I expected. As for the shop and staff, the shop was clean and the staff was professional and engaging. Very nice group of people. I absolutely endorse this tattoo shop.
Please note that the shop is a 10 – 15 minute walk from Glenpark BART and is accessible to public transportation.

Luis pierced my belly not too long ago on April 14, 2014. He’s super nice and talking to him made me not nervous at all. He made sure it was straight before he pierced it too. After getting it pierced, he explained to me how to take care of it and all. Four weeks later (May 13, 2014), my piercing is still in great shape! I changed the belly ring a few days ago. No problems whatsoever. I recommend this place if you want a navel piercing!

Just left JC tattoo my experience was pleasant. The staff were friendly, helpful, and professional. I enjoyed small talk with the tattoo artist Eric whom tatted me. Overall I would recommend this place.

Had an awesome experience yesterday getting a small cover up done. I had my tattoo done by Alex who was super nice and was willing to work with what I wanted. Everyone that worked there was super nice and very helpful. Definitely going back for more! Thanks Guys!

I got my belly pierced here today. I was scared shitless, but the guys who work there were so nice and helpful. They made me feel welcome and safe. I’m underage so I had to bring my mom with me and they made sure that I knew it was going to be okay. I freaked out right before actually getting it pierced but Luis knew what he was doing and started striking up a conversation with me and before I knew it, the pain was over. The price was great too. I love my new piercing, thanks JC!

These guys suck, no true talent at all. I got a tribal done here and the dude tore my skin apart. Dude said he had 20+ years of experience, my ass! Many artist agreed his work was garbage and he got me for 250. If u want true artist go to Al’s Rock of Age tattoo shop in San Mateo.
JC tattoo should stick to piercing only!

For my 42^nd birthday I decided to get a tattoo. I was in the city for work and decided to go to JC Tattoo! When I first walked in I met Alex and Luis. They were with clients. I ended up meeting My tattoo artist Addison. I was so happy with his work! And the shop! Addison listened to exactly what I wanted and even suggested various things– so I felt it was a great creative process. It was such a great experience. I was skeptical going into a shop that I didnt know… But so happy with my decision! This place is TOP NOTCH! All of the guys were so nice to an old lady like me :)

Great business! I got my tat done by the artist Addison. Fucking great work I am very please with my tattoo! This is the place to go for great quality and great hospitality.

In response to Felicia’s post… This is total bull. I was one of the first customers to get tattoos by Addison the head tattooist next to JC and have since frequented the shop often; and the staff there are there are by fart the nicest most laid back guys you could ever meet. JC always goes out of his way to strike up fun conversation and makes you feel extremely welcome. Not once in the past year have I ever noticed unprofessional towards customers. I don’t believe for one second that this comment is true. Its obvious that this person has no sense of humor which is important when making the decision to get pierced or Inked. JC tattoo is like home to me, take your fallacy elsewhere!

First I’d like to start off by saying the staff and owner were very accommodating ! My tattoo artist Addison, was first class, I actually got to watch a movie, via a serious stereo system, while I received my tattoo! The work was top notch to say the least! The owner Louis was very easy to talk with and the price was very right! I most definitely recommend this joint to anyone looking to have fine ink work done!

I truly feel that no one should ever go through what I went through… My experience was HORRIFIC (as I would describe it in one word). In the beginning was fine, managed to maintain a civil close friendship with the owner John (good guy) and somewhat of one with Dave whom was renting a space in the shop! I work in the area and pass by the shop quite frequently during my lunch breaks and would stop in to say hello. It’s been a few years since my last tattoo; and ever since my son was born in 2008 I’ve been really wanting to get some thing special that really expresses my love for him.
So the owner and I really worked good together, he was helpful, he knew what I wanted, how I wanted it, where I wanted it; etc; etc; etc!!. Hesitant, I changed my mind several times because I wanted my tattoo to be perfect… it’s expresses a special meaning, it’s permanent and it’s FOREVER!!! I made my final decision and made appointment. Sadly, it wasn’t with John… It was with Dave. I should have stopped right then and there when I had the chance. So Ok, Dave… fine!!! I come in the of my tattoo; was a few moments late, waited on Dave to get his lunch for about 10 minutes… He comes in and begins to eat his lunch. I was like, Ok no biggy the man needs to eat! I’m a pretty understanding person. So he shows me the blown up example of my tat that I had discussed with John over a period of time. So I figured John went over all the details with Dave! When he showed the photo copy of the picture, it wasn’t at all what I wanted (somewhat)!!! So I did the best I can to describe what I wanted!!! Again, I should have stopped right then and there when I had the chance… I didn’t think about all the mishaps until way later, thinking of what an idiot I am for putting my trust into this man. We get started, HURT LIKE HELL, Dave was on the phone most of the time handling some personal business that I have no right to discuss on here (I will at least keep that private). Never did he ask for me to take a look at the example on my back before tattooing me, which is my fault for not catching it sooner. Any way, he had some where to be and was in a hurry, RUSHED through my tattoo, did a horrible job, looks like I’ve had it for years… The position of it was off balanced (on the top center of my back)… Was bigger than orginally planned. I never got a good look at it… he didn’t take a completed photo like he was suppose to do. Cleaned up and left the shop so fast! Now like I said what he was discussing on the phone while tattooing me could have waited!!! When I went home I had someone take a photo of my tattoo to get a good look at it. I CRIED! It was horrible… it didn’t look professional at all (coming from a guy who’s been tattooing for over 30 yrs), my son’s name was messy… and he tried to cover up a mistake he did in the spelling (when he was on the phone). It turned out to be a night mare. However, when I had confronted the owner John, he was attentive to my feelings, agreed that the tattoo was terrible. He did what every good man/​owner had to do… In days to come when John confronted Dave, thru the grapevine I was insulted by Dave, calling me names out of spite. MY SOUL IS THICKER THAN MY SKIN BTW!!! I was sitting there getting a needle drilled into my back, (HELL YEAH it hur) … The man wasn’t at paying attention and just really didn’t care. So thru all the pain, all the discomfort; my tattoo was overall SLOPPY, John did what ever he had to do to stay out of it; which was the right thing for him to do. John was nice enough to refund his cut of what I paid his shop and Dave. Dave on the other, signed an agreement (as well as the owner did) that he would pay back the entire amount I paid him. That being said, what I paid wasn’t at all worth the price!!! Dave still owes me money but I just got word that he no longer works there! LIFE MUST GO ON… AND SO IT WILL!!! I’d like to also add that this review isn’t directed towards the shop or the owner.

showed him what i had in mind for my tat & he automatically threw out some more ideas! love it

I AM SCARRED FOR LIFE BECAUSE OF THIS PLACE
Honestly I really do appreciate the people at JC Tattoos and their prices are reasonable.
My first tattoo here was ok, the tattoo artist didnt speak english at all and wasnt very communicative but he got the job done in an hour and the tattoo healed great.
When I went back for my SECOND tattoo was when I lost all hope and faith in this place. The owner is Louis and he’s a cool guy to chat with but his tattoo’ing capabilities were terrible. I requested him to do my personal piece because i thought to myself «Hey, he’s the owner, he must be a good artist» I was wrong. It took him 2.5 hours to finish my shoulder piece and the entire session he kept assisting his coworker in his client because she was a squirmer.
He would stop for minutes on end and when he returned to doing my piece he would re-​re-​retrace the parts he already colored. I didnt think anything of it until my tattoo began to heal, well that’s not the right word.
Since he pressed so hard and kept changing needle mags from 3 to 5 at least 3 times and he kept retracing, he dug SOOOOOO deep that my half my tattoo ended up falling off and scarring into a keloid!
Ever since that traumatizing experience and inconsistency, I have gotten a third tattoo but i chose Mom’s Tattoo in Haight instead and they were great
JC Tattoo is ok in a sense of price, entertaining people, and ease of getting a appointment…
But I would warn to PAY A LITTLE MORE AND GO TO HAIGHT
Oh and I never confronted Louis about the messed up tattoo because I rather not hear his reasons or excused to why my shoulder is now covered in scars and how i am responsible from the moment I sign the release

I need a tattoo on my butt. Just Joking. I was just there to check out the place because I was with a bunch of girls who wanted to all great friendship tattoos. Let’s start with the location, it’s a pretty small shop. Not a lot of tattoos to look at. 3 books to look at, nothing special. The small wall display of art barely show anything worth trying. There were limited seats, and some type of cheap rope separate the guest from the tattoo artist. Not only that, some small girl was running around back and forth. I nearly thought she could have knock into the artist and somebody could get stab. Dangerous, really dangerous.
If you don’t have a appt you’re screw, and if you do, you still have to wait in line. 3 to 5 hours on a tattoo is too long. I know it’s got to be ok, but 3 to 5 hours. Come on!
