Jane Anderson was a fantastic pediatrician, but unfortunately, she retired this past November.

Both of our children have been very well cared-for by Dr. Anderson. She involves other specialists in the decisions about care. Her practice has a strong focus on young mothers and low income mothers and people from a wide range of patients including high income earners. We were introduced to the practice by friends of ours; a lesbian couple with children. If you take your child to this practice you will receive thorough, caring and efficient medical attention. She follows up by phone and makes herself available at all times.

Dr. Anderson is a great pediatrician for my family. I have two children who go to her. She is supportive and takes her time with you when you come in for appointments. She even fields questions via email.

Jane Anderson is a WONDERFUL pediatrician. I had made the decision to choose another physician because of her conservative views and immediately regretted it. I called her from the PICU at CPMC and asked her if she would please take us on. Despite our dumping her, she graciously took us back. Jane loves babies. She is great with them and supports the parents, especially the mom. She understands how hard it is as a new parent, especially for a mom that used to be focused on her career, and encourages you to get out and have a little break now and again. She’s supportive of the parent’s right to choose alternative therapy and alternative vaccine schedules. AND, her conservative opinions NEVER come up during a visit. I love her group visits. She organizes a small group of families with babies about the same age. She then facilitates a discussion on a topic appropriate to their developmental stage. It’s so helpful to hear from both her and other parents. After the group discussion, each family has individual time with her, not rushed. Jane is extremely supportive of breast feeding. At 6 days old, my son was rushed by ambulance to the CPMCPICU. We had to switch him to 100% formula for a couple days, and the consultants miraculously saved my supply. I left the hospital feeding him a combination of breast milk and formula; Jane helped me to wean him off the formula. She was never alarmist, and she never blamed me. Jane is a breath of fresh air. Anyone who judges her based on her conservative views is no better than someone who judges us for our liberal views.

I have had Dr. Jane Anderson as my children’s pediatrician for more than 5 years. She has, quite frankly, been a great pediatrician. Thus, It is with real sadness that i feel i must choose another doctor for them. Dr. Anderson has truly helped us in what was a very trying time for our family(our children were born with severe health issues). She was caring and kind, and always called back to check up on us. I was therefore SHOCKED to find out that she supported Prop 8. I frankly could not believe the pediatrician of my children, whom I felt supported me and my family in very trying times, could support discrimination against other families. Moreover, in an explanation of her support for Prop 8, she explained how gay marriage could lead to incest and bestiality(???). It is very difficult to find a new pediatrician in this city, but I cannot reconcile myself to have a doctor that wants to deny families the protections and rights that heterosexual families have. Also, while we are a heterosexual family, we know we must express our solidarity with families that are different – if we believe gay families deserve the same rights as any other family, how can we stay with her? In some ways I feel guilty for leaving her after her support of our family, but in a much greater way, I feel betrayed by her inability to rise above her prejudices.
