Jam Out With Your Clam Out

Can’t believe that I never thought to Unilocal this day. It was gorgeous and I had a great time, and it was all for a good cause. We ate too much, we drank too much, and I got to meet some lovely new folks while I chatted with old Unilocal chums.
5^th star withheld because I didn’t win anything in the raffle and I’m just bitter like that, but really it was fantastic, and the organizers earned my highest regards for putting on a great event.

A great time for a great cause! Four days later, I’m still full!

So, I think another special shout out «thanks» wouldn’t be too much praise and deserved kudos for– Mastermind, Euge L., the logistical planning of Graceypoo, Bernadiva, and Cindy K, Sooj O., the cooking of Nance W., Hen A., Jeff T., A.J. Steph P., Arnold G. and, all that helped in big and little ways that we may have gone «officially» unrecognized… thank you!
And, we must not forget to give thanks to the powers that be for a beautiful sunny day!

Alright, this is a biased review from one of the committee members of the Jam Out With Your Clam Out (JOWYCO) 2007.
What can I say: with the inspired thinking of Euge L., the logistical planning of Graceypoo, Bernadiva, and Cindy K, the cooking of Nance W., Hen A., Jeff T., and A.J., we managed to pull off a pretty good amount of great food for a great cause.
Thanks to all the Unilocalers who came out to eat and who bought raffle tickets (including those who couldn’t come but still bought raffle tickets).
Also, thanks to Steph P. for helping a lot in the prep and the clean up, and for sacrificing some skin to a dungeness crab. And Arnold G. for helping cook the burgers. A special thanks to Omid for his amazing logo which was on our raffle vouchers. And many thanks to the businesses who contributed prizes for the raffle tickets (here, I admit to being very biased because somehow I managed to win 3 times).
The food: amazing.
What the committee provided:
50 pounds of shrimp
50 pounds of clams
50 dungeness crabs
10 pounds of mussels
potatos
corn
hamburgers (some of which were fried later in butter! just too insane for words)
bread, including some very good garlic bread
Unilocalers graciously provided some of the following items which I saw:
brownies
peach cobbler pie
watermelon
a large pan of macaroni and cheese
beer and other alcohol
cupcakes
zucchini muffins
KFC
cookies
brownie bites
fruit
there might be more I missed.
Atmosphere:
a perfectly lovely warm day at Lake Merced. We lay down in a stupor on our blankets after feasting. Some people were actually able to play badminton… I wasn’t one of them.
Service:
feast at a table and continue eating, eating, eating… A.J. made the rounds of the tables cutting the crabs. What more could you ask for?
