Great little park hidden away in the Forest Hill neighborhood. Cushy ground cover and enough structural challenges to make it both safe and exciting for my 2.5 year old. Two sand pits, swings, and a cool spinning/​climbing structure, too! Contained to the point that you don’t have to helicopter over your children, and there are public restrooms available. Yay!

This is a great neighborhood playground. With new play structures and a nice clubhouse, it’s definitely a draw for Inner Sunset families. When our son is older hopefully we’ll take advantage of the tennis and basketball courts. I also like the international crowd — on any given day you can hear 3 – 5 different languages spoken. Coming here reminds me why we live in the city.

Cool well cared for little neighborhood park with some fun playground swings and slide. My kid loves it. Be careful at night as there are a lot of places to hide in the bushes. Ive been coming here since I was 7 years old and it hasn’t changed much.

They redid the park from when I use to go there as a kid. It looks great! The clubhouse is great for birthday parties.

The playground is for ages 3 – 6 at best after the remodel. I used to be a latchkey kid at this playground, but they can’t really offer that now, as there’s no place really for 7 – 12 kids at this park, besides tennis or basketball.

This is a great playground for keeping your kids entertained AND keeping track of them. It is walled in and the exits are all on one side. They can still get away, but it is much easier than open playgrounds. Plus they have clean bathrooms.
Only thing I don’t like: The big circle swing. (I think those are dangerous.) And the shadow in the winter from the buildings next door. Makes it colder earlier in the shorter days.

Tennis courts, childrens playground… not super exciting.
I find myself walking through while wandering around my neighborhood, or watching a tennis match. Nice area but not as good as a big open patch of grass to read a book in

great playground for all ages! Clean and well maintained. Not too crazy, some playgrounds are too overwhelming, this is a wonderful park! My favorite so far.

The small playground looks so much nicer since the remodeling as well as the small rec building. They have a walkway now which extends from the children’s playground, up to the rec building & back down the other side to the playground. A couple of new structures, no more of those swinging tires where if your child’s bum was too small, they’d disappear into the hole and on the floor. The single basketball court has been repainted, as well as the 4 tennis courts which makes the place look so much nicer. Alas, my kids no longer play here but it’s a nice jaunt down memory lane to see what the remodeled playground looks like and watch the new and younger families create new memories.

It is a beautifully remodeled playground. Unfortunately, graffiti is already on the slides. I hope they will keep it nicely maintained for the kids.

JP Murphy is a wonderful park for families. Growing up, my mom wanted the kids to have fun in the sun while she could also get her workout. She played tennis in the multi tennis courtyards. The kids climbed the trees, spun on the merry go round, played sand tag, solo-​tennis against the basketball court walls. The park is sort of in an alcove so we always felt safe as children. It’s a great way to make memories and a place where I took my daughter the first years of her life. :)

I grew up playing in this park, played everything from games in the rec room, to the sandbox, the trees you could climb and look out over the basketball and tennis courts. I haven’t been to a lot of parks that were this green and had this many activities in such a small space, especially in the city, where there laughter always seems to compete with the traffic. J.P. Murphy is a great neighborhood park.
